AN excerpt from Scout.com on Dan Connor's Pro-Day linked via Draftdaddy:

Like Ryan, Penn State's Dan Connor elected not to work out at the Combine, instead saving his audition in front of scouts for Tuesday's Pro Day. Considering his performance, it is hard to fault his decision.

The 6-2, 231-pound Connor was clocked by scouts in the mid- to high-4.6s in the 40-yard dash. His 40 time, three-cone drill (6.76), vertical jump (35 inches) and 22 repetitions of 225 pounds rank among the elite scores of inside linebackers tested this year.

When asked to grade his own performance on a scale of 1-10, the Bednarik Award winner characterized the performance as a "13."

Pittsburgh was heavily represented at the workout, with head coach Mike Tomlin on hand. Other teams thought to be considering Connor had strong representation at the workout, as well, including Philadelphia, Detroit and Arizona.

Kurt Hout sounds like an ideal 3-4 DE. He is an intriguing guy. Connor is just an animal, he is one of my favorite players in the draft.

"Louisville QB Brian Brohm ran a 4.61 forty at his Pro Day Monday, according to NFL Network's Charles Davis.

Second fastest quarterback in the draft. Brohm ran a 4.83 at the Combine, so this is marked improvement. We'd still be a little wary of what type of track he ran on, but it's impressive. Brohm is a superb athlete."

RB Peyton Hillis (6-1, 237): Ran the 40 in 4.57 and 4.58, had a 35-inch vertical jump, 4.24 short shuttle, ran position drills and kept his numbers from the combine for everything else. He looked good but dropped several passes.

Excellent speed for a "slow white fullback". That VJ is a half-inch under McFadden and a half-inch better than Felix Jones. I'm not sure who greased up the ball during the passing drills. Peyton has the best hands in the SEC. I hope the scouts remember to watch actual game film instead of using one mediocre practice day against him.

my comment: great shuttle time, although according to nfldraftscout there are 3 other players that run it under 4 seconds, including 2 white guys: Justin Beaver and Luke Swan!

Personally, I've always felt that the short shuttle is the drill that most defines a player in terms of quickness. Whereas a drill such as the straight-line 40 means little-to-nothing other than the mintue possibilty of...."what if he breaks away from every defender?" or "what if he has to chase down a running back in the open field?"

It's nice to see Lynch (the Applician State DB who block AND returned the Michigan field goal) putting up some superior numbers. I doubt he'll get drafted, but I'm almost positive he'll at least get a few calls after the draft.

The combine and pro-days are just another way to weed out good football players.Edited by: Thrashen

They say he'll be drafted between rounds 4-6, and that his stock is rising. I think he will be drafted, and probably be given a chance to make a roster. The NFL no matter how racist will always have room for a play maker like Corey Lynch.

"J.J. Pesavento, of Next Level Scouting, reports University of Iowa CB Adam Shada worked out at his school's Pro Day. Shada ran between a 4.57 and a 4.62 40-yard dash, had a 36 1/2-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot, two-inch long jump, a 6.70-second three-cone drill, a 4.08-second short shuttle, a 11.11-second long shuttle and completed 16 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press. He measured in at 5-foot-11 1/4 and 195 pounds."

Great workout except for the 40 times, best case scenario at this point is that he gets a training camp invite somewhere to play safety.

That Houston DB with the ridiculous pro day I mentioned a couple days ago, Rocky Schwartz, apparently has a visit scheduled with the Titans as well.

I would like all those on this site to post Jacob Hesters pro day numbers as soon as we learn them I have a feeling he runs 4.5 or less. I am very interested in what he does today. As I beleive he can maybe have a shot at getting drafted as a running back if he can run as fast as Brian Leonard did last year.

I see that Jacob is listed at 225 pounds now, may have lost that weight in order to run that sub 4.6 40. He can do it. GO JACOB!

I'm also curious to see if Steltz work out.

You beat me to it Gi-15. Results are just starting to trickle out, the broad jump and vertical jumps were just posted, Steltz is working out, so is LB Luke Sanders and Hester.

DD.comment: After registering a blazing 4.32 on a fairly slow track, running back Steve Korte Jr. has to be considered the unsung hero of L.S.U.'s Pro Day. But who is he?

Korte, who was heavily recruited coming out of high school, is the son of former N.F.L. offensive lineman Steve Korte. He sort of got lost in the shuffle in Baton Rogue due to injuries and the Tigers' plethora of talent at running back, so he announced he would transfer to Southern Miss in the summer of 2007. But according to one of our sources, Korte was suspended by both the N.C.A.A. and L.S.U. (due to an academic issue) and has decided to turn to pro, instead of sitting out another season or transfering to a lower level program.

KSU's pro day is on the 28th. I will definitely be on the lookout.

This Steve Korte Jr. guy didn't get any playing time at LSU, but is a heck of an athlete. I would hope that he gets invited to an NFL training camp and given a shot to impress at HB. If he were black he certainly might, with a 40 time of 4.32, get a shot. Wow is that fast!

The problem is that white guys who are productive at RB have to run at least a 4.5 40 and guys like Korte who run a 4.32, but have no stats to show for are cast aside. A white RB has to do so much more. It's ashame it wasn't Hester running that 4.32 40 yard dash, maybe he would have gotten a shot at RB then. Hester's 80+ yard TD run this season at LSU proves he has the game breaking ability, but the scouts will harp on his 4.6 flat 40 time. However, Mike Hart running a 4.67 is still a top HB to them!

Well, I know it won't happen, but Chris Henry got drafted in the 2nd round last year without any good production to back him, and he had similar measurables, so there is hope for at least an UDFA contract.
