With Washington injured and likely out this Sunday, Zenner is getting some positive fantasy buzz, likely aimed at people playing FanDuel or DraftKings and hoping to buy low and get a nice result from a RB...
"Zach Zenner, DET – Obviously, this is contingent on Dwayne Washington being out, and in fact, if Washington plays, you can swap him in here. The Lions need someone, anyone, to be the early down and short yard option. Theo Riddick just doesn’t have the ability to be that guy, and it was never more evident than when the Lions tried to run him up the middle at the goal line."
"Zach Zenner: Zenner is the next man up in the Detroit rotation as Dwayne Washington went down with an ankle injury. To this point Theo Riddick has proven he can’t be the lead back as he has averaged 3 yards per carry when given the chance. Zenner’s college career screams bell cow runner as he produced 3 seasons over 2000 yards. Zenner may only be the deepest of plays, but he does offer the upside to get the job done."
"Zach Zenner: Dwayne Washington left Sunday’s loss with a foot and ankle injury, and while it won’t be an extended absence it seems unlikely he’ll play against the Eagles on Sunday. That opens up a role for Zenner, though it’s a miniscule role behind Theo Riddick as the Lions will continue to go pass-happy. As I’ve written in this column a few times and keep repeating aloud as I walk down the street, confusing and terrifying onlookers: The Lions want to go no-huddle as often as possible, and when you go no-huddle you don’t substitute often, even near the goal line. Zenner actually got a single shot on the goal line, just like Washington did in Week 3. And, just like Washington in Week 3, he was stopped behind the line of scrimmage."
With a plethora of injuries, I'd love to see Zenner have his "Peyton Hillis Breakout Moment" against the Eagles, who have had a great defense this season. With Abdullah on IR and Washington injured, fumbling, and underachieving, it could be Zenner's job to lose. I wish him the best.
