"Funny", because a lot of the 60's and 70's movies I used to watch as a kid would have this theme in it...a conspiracy of a satanic cabal running a town, city, country or the world. If you go into this link you will see numerous examples of Argento looking with one eye through her fingers. This is apparently some sort of occult symbolism.
I recently picked up, from the library, rock musician Keith Richards' autobiography. On the cover of the book is a photograph in which Richards does the exact same thing. He peers through his fingers with one eye.

Man allegedly threatens to chop up Rand Paul and his family with an ax

A man is accused of threatening to chop up U.S. Sen. Rand Paul and his family with an ax.
The man has been arrested. He allegedly called in the threats to Paul's Bowling Green office.
Paul mentioned the attack publicly at an event in Leitchfield, Kentucky, on Monday.
"Capitol Police have issued an arrest warrant for a man who threatened to kill me and chop up my family with an axe," Paul said. "It's just horrendous that we have to deal with things like this."
Capitol Police declined to comment because the investigation is ongoing.

This marks one of several threats and attacks Paul has had in the last year. More than a year ago, Paul was on the baseball diamond when James Hodgkinson opened fire and shot several congressional staffers as well as Rep. Steve Scalise, a Louisianna Republican.
Paul was unscathed.
The Kentucky senator also is involved in criminal and civil litigation against his neighbor, Rene Boucher. In November, Boucher tackled the senator while he was mowing the lawn of his Bowling Green home.
Boucher claimed he "had enough" of Paul's unsightly tree branches, sticks and leaves that were piled up along the property line, and he has consistently denied that the attack was politically motivated.
Boucher is a registered Democrat, according to the Kentucky State Board of Elections.
"It's been a year where we're becoming more and more aware of these threats," Paul said.

United States delegates sought to weaken a World Health Assembly resolution encouraging breast-feeding this spring, the New York Times reported Sunday, backing the interests of infant-formula manufacturers instead.
The Assembly resolution was based on decades of research that concluded mother's milk was best, and that countries should strive to limit the inaccurate or misleading marketing of breast-milk substitutes.
Hundreds of government delegates had gathered at the United Nations-affiliated World Health Assembly in Geneva in May. Ecuador had planned to introduce the breast-feeding resolution, according to the Times.
U.S. delegates pushed for removal of resolution language calling on governments to "protect, promote and support breast-feeding."
According to the Times, they also issued an ultimatum:
Ecuador backed down.
Fearing retaliation, several other countries backed away from the measure as well, according to the report.
Russia was not dissuaded and introduced it.
The final resolution largely reflected the original wording. But the U.S. insisted on removing language calling on the World Health Organization to offer technical support to officials trying to stop “inappropriate promotion of foods for infants and young children,” according to the Times.
Patti Randall — who, as policy director of the British advocacy group Baby Milk Action, has attended meetings of the assembly — said the group was "astonished," "appalled" and "saddened" by the behavior of the U.S. delegates.
The State Department would not answer the Times' questions. A Department of Health and Human Services spokesman told the Times the initial version of the resolution "placed unnecessary hurdles for mothers seeking to provide nutrition for their children."
