Here's another article praising Cooper. Even Jason Avant gives him props, good to see:
<H1>Cooper making good impression with Eagles</H1>
<H2>The fifth-round draft pick is getting plenty of action in camp</H2>

Riley Cooper had at least one fan even before he arrived at Lincoln Financial Field for Thursday's Eagles Flight Night.

When the rookie got behind the secondary at the Thursday morning practice at Lehigh University and took a Kevin Kolb pass to the end zone, a female voice cut through the soft applause of a generally inaudible crowd.

"Good job, Riley," the woman screamed at the 22-year-old whose brown locks hang out of the back of his helmet.

Cooper, a fifth-round draft pick from Florida, is getting increased time with the first-team offense as receivers DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin are sidelined with injuries. Cooper caught six of the seven passes Kolb threw his way Thursday, with the other sailing over his head.

"He's been down the field deep behind the defense a lot," receiver Jason Avant said. "I think he's doing a great job."

Avant also thinks Cooper brings something different to Philadelphia's receiving corps: size and strength. Listed at 6-foot-3 and 222 pounds, Cooper is five inches taller than Jackson and three inches taller than Maclin. He's listed as the heaviest receiver on the team.

"And he's fast," Avant said.

Cooper's performance in training camp comes as no surprise to Eagles coach Andy Reid. He said the expectations for Cooper are higher than the usual fifth-round pick and that the Eagles couldn't believe they got Cooper so late in the draft.

Now, it's up to Cooper to prove he can perform in more meaningful action.

"I think he's going to be a good player in this league," Avant said. "And possibly great."

Cooper has/had the talent, success, speed, size, hands and upside to be a 1st round pick but we here know why he wasn't as do DWFs deep down but they just don't care and will never admit it...

Yes, first the doubt was, "well he has a good chance of going the baseball route" Then after he didn't show up for his physical, nullifying the baseball contract, they were grasping at straws. I believe Cooper was the best receiver out this draft, a guy that could be a team's number 1 receiver. I think that is why they were hoping he pulled a Samardzija. Another knock on him was playing Florida's system, that their route tree isn't that complicated and they claimed Cooper wouldn't be able to adjust to an NFL offense. I know other Florida receivers have struggled a little bit with grasping an NFL offense but Cooper is very bright and a quick learner which his performance in training camp is proving. Cooper actually had the most receiving yards for a season at UF since 2003, it could be further than that but ESPN stats only go back to 2004, he also had the highest yards per catch at 18.8. Other receivers that had lesser stats like Andre Caldwell and Louis Murphy went higher in the draft than Cooper. Cooper actually caught about the same number of passes as Caldwell but had about 200 more yards, and yet we are supposed to believe that Caldwell is faster on the field.

I think that's a pretty solid analysis. I had a conversation w/ dwid on Youtube about whether Cooper or Blair White were better receivers. I picked White because I thought he had impeccable hands where Cooper's were average and that the Florida routes weren't that complicated. I have watched more footage of the two and I started to notice how much awareness Cooper has of where to run. He reads defenses very well and plays faster than he times in pads. White is a good route runner with good hands, but his instincts aren't quite as good (Cooper is more creative and adjusts to defenses better). I ranked White as my 7th WR and Cooper as my 10th, but I think I underestimated Cooper a bit.

From Rotoworld:

Eagles rookie WR Riley Cooper took reps with the first-team offense in four-receiver sets during Sunday's practice.
<div ="s_pNewsTextMain">
Jeremy Maclin wasn't a full participant in team drills, so it's not
like Cooper is pushing for a starting job. Still, he's generated
positive reviews so far in camp and should make the team as a fifth or
sixth wide receiver.

Should make the team as a 5th or 6th receiver? Are they serious?

I was going to say the same thing. I mean he should AT LEAST bechallenging for the3rd receiver spot, its not like Avant is anything special. In a fair world he would get a chance to start at one of the outside spots.

Here's the source article from the Philly Inquirer that Rotoworld used to fit its blatant anti-White agenda: http://www.philly.com/inquirer/sports/20100808_Eagles_injuries_create_opportunities_at_wide_receiver.html

BTW, did anyone else notice that a commercial for Rotoworld ran during the Bengals-Cowboys game? That's the first time I've ever seen an advertisement of any kind like that for Rotoworld and it was on NBC's national telecast, which had to have been expensive.

I believe NBC owns Rotoworld, which is probably just the run-of-the-mill Net site stillrun by a few guys. They've been airing these ads during the pre-season for quite some time. I don't think NBC is very proud of Rotoworld, as they don't constantly hype it like they do Pro Football Talk. Roto seems to just get a few early pre-season ads (when DWF's are concered about roster cuts?), then they go away.

I think Rotoworld's post story commentary used tocome from Gregg Rosenthal, a 20-something dweeb, who looks like the kid that used to get his kicked in class and is looking to get even with the Tebow and Cushing types. He's since moved on to Pro Football Talk, but I would not be surprised if another "Rosenthal clone" took over for him. It's NBC, which employs Olbermann and Maddow, do we expect anything less than this bias from a couple of there lowly paid (or perhaps working for free?) peons doing commentary for a fantasy football/ubber-geek site?

Did you see one of the writers for Rotoworld? I forget his name but Don mentioned him before. He looks like he's 16 years old.

Has anybody heard yet where Cooper is going to be on the depth cart? I'm hoping that Coop will get a chance to start or at least be used often off the bench as a rookie. The dude is a STUD and (IMHO) is probably the Eagles best WR or he will be when he gets experience and time to shine. GO RILEY!!!

Cooper's fourth on the depth chart. He won't start unless Jackson or Macklin are injured. Macklin's already been beat upin training camp but is supposed to be ready for the regular season.

Avant is the slot receiver. Cooper would step in there if Avant is hurt, as being White, Riley automaticallyis assumed tobea possession receiver no matter how deadly his combination of size and speed for the outside.

Based on that, Don, Cooper has a pretty good shot at getting quite a bit of playing time, since Macklin in particular is one of those perpetually-injured black players.

This is especially impressive since it was written by veteran Caste hound Brian Baldinger:

It will become very difficult for the Eagles not to get rookie WR Riley Cooper on the field. Cooper is big, fast and does everything well. He can play outside or inside, and before the season is out, I'm betting Cooper will be the second-best option â€" behind DeSean Jackson â€" in the Eagles' passing game.

Hopefully Cooper's concussion has improved enough that he can play Sunday. This would seem to be an ideal time for him to get some significant playing time, with DeSean Jackson out and Kolb likely starting his last game before Vick returns.

Eagles WR Riley Cooper (concussion) is expected to return to practice Wednesday. Cooper began practicing last Wednesday but had to shut it down after concussion symptoms returned. He's missed the last two weeks. The Eagles could use him with DeSean Jackson likely out, but it's not a given he'll be ready. Chad Hall could be in line for increased snaps again.

Maclin and Cooper could very well start on the outside, with Avant and Hall playing on the inside. Hall did play both outside and inside positions during the pre-season, so perhaps he'll only see the field during four WR sets.

As Don noted, with "Dog Assassin"Â￾ also out of Sunday's lineup, Kolb will finally have a more "diverse"Â￾ set of offensive options (Celek, Hall, and Cooper).

This could be the perfect storm. Fat Bastard's feeble, gargantuan heart may finally detonate after decades of circulating his lard-infested, negro-smitten lifeblood. Edited by: Thrashen

It would be nice to see Cooper make a big play or two. With Jackson out and this likely Kolb's last start until Vick's next injury, this would be the game to do it. But Fat Bastard may put Avant outside and not even use Cooper, or use him very little.

Owen Schmitthas been gettinga few passes thrown his way as well. The Eagles may look a lot like the Colts and Patriots on offense on Sunday -- except for their awful sumo dominated o-line.Edited by: Don Wassall

Rotoworld calls Cooper athletic. What is the world coming to?

pixel.gif

Riley Cooper caught three passes for 51 yards with a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Titans.
<div ="s_pNewsTextMain">
Cooper came back from his concussion and served as the No. 3 receiver.
Kevin Kolb showed supreme confidence in the tall, athletic rookie by
tossing up some jump balls for him. As long as DeSean Jackson
(concussion) is out, Cooper will be on the radar as a desperation play
in deep formats. He has upside, especially in the red zone.

Here's an interesting blurb from Weenieworld. Here's hoping Maclin's mysterious disease lingers and lingers. What's ridiculous though to be expected is Weenieworld's opinion that even if he starts on the outside, Cooper will still be only a WR 4 (in fantasy football), whereas Maclin is generally considered a high ranking WR 2 borderline WR 1. If Cooper starts and has that lack of success, it will be a reflection on Michael Vick, not Riley. Brent Celek went from close to a superstar level when Kevin Kolb was throwing to him to average at best when Vick replaced Kolb.

Cooper has more talent than Maclin in every department, including speed, and of course he has huge size for the NFL and great hands. He's an All-Pro in waiting, but Fat Bastard, even though he collects some interesting White talent, has tilted his team ethos more towards "street football" than ever this season. From Weenieworld:

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer suspects Riley Cooper would get the starting nod if Jeremy Maclin (illness) missed regular season time.
Based on what he's heard, McLane also believes Maclin won't play at all this preseason. Rumors have spread like wildfire on message boards about Maclin's "illness," but the Eagles haven't confirmed anything. He's been on an exercise bike in camp. Cooper could be a sneaky WR4 if Maclin does miss games. At 6'3/222, he'd immediately be Mike Vick's best red-zone option.

In all the video I've seen on ESPN from Eagles camp, it seems like Cooper, Hall, and Celek are in each play. It could be a coincidence, or hopefully it means Reid is planning on using them a lot as receiving options.

Good find gentlemen. Cooper is just as talented if not better than Andre Johnson of Houston. He just needs a chance to show it. Avant is mediocre at best and Maclin is tough to root for because of the TNB syndrome. I think Cooper could easily go for a thousand plus with the right quarterback. Look for Nelson, Shipley, Collie and my darkhorse is Kris Durham to reach that 1,000 plateau as well.

Cooper's only playing a lot because DeSean Jackson was holding out and Maclin has some mysterious illness. Avant is idolized by the DWFs and media above and beyond the usual worshipping of black football players for reasons that escape me as in his five NFL seasons his career highs are 51 receptions and 587 yards, or less than half a season of production by a healthy Wes Welker.

As I've mentioned before, I think Cooper has superstar potential, but he will need injuries and luck to play regularly this season.
