Yes pretty much all of our big physical/fast outside receivers are buried on the depth chart, hopefully Nelson can get a shot after his Superbowl performance, but even that isn't guaranteed to start every game as a number 1 or 2. Collie will probably be moved around and Shipley is destined for the slot it seems.

DeSean Jackson is really fragile, so Cooper may get a shot. There is a trend among affletes that hold out, they usually get injured soon after they sign. Who knows what kind of shape he has been keeping himself in. Durham might be our best shot this year since there isn't much talent on the Seahawks roster but you never know with some coaches.

Unfortunately I now see Durham being forced to serve a significant racial apprenticeship. Sidney Rice was signed to big money so he's entrenched as the number one receiver. Durham is a much more talented version of Mike Williams, but of course Williams is a great "feel-good" story. Golden Tate will likely be the slot receiver. Add in Pete Carroll and the signing of "T-Jax" and it doesn't look good for Durham right now.

But of course, Rice was hobbled almost all of last season, and Williams is still unproven. The propensity for injury among the fast-weakening pool of black athletes is proving to be one of the Caste System's worst enemies.

Kris is 1"+ taller, faster & just as good hands as AJ Green. However, with the caste system soundly in place at UGA, he didn't get near as many passes thrown his way.

As for Cooper, I think he has Pro-Bowl potential but (as Don alluded to) will need some (other WR) injuries + luck in his favor (to get the reps he deserves).

Eagles HC Andy Reid said on Saturday he "doesn't know" when Jeremy Maclin (undisclosed illness) will return to training camp. This, after Reid said Thursday the Eagles remain optimistic that Maclin will be ready for Week 1. The details remain vague, but the circumstantial evidence strongly suggests Maclin is going to be anything but ready for the regular season.

Cooper looks to be the beneficiary if Maclin continues to miss time. I found this on a fantasy site and it's hard to argue with the logic. I don't think even Fat Bastard would move Avant outside and make Cooper the slot guy: "On a sneaky level, second-year wide receiver Riley Cooper is a winner because the Eagles didn't offer Randy Moss a free agent deal and now he has a chance to start if Jeremy Maclin doesn't get healthy soon. Even if he does, Maclin has some weight to regain and Cooper could pick up the slack."

Could be Hepatitis B if they think he can get better at some point. Says he has "weight to regain", so it is probably something sketchy. I have a friend who lived in a poor part of town and some thug tried to rob him with a knife, he managed to beat him down. Several months later he looked like he was dying, thin, jaundice etc. He got hepatitis I guess from when he punched the guy must have been blood to blood or something. It took him a while to recover, he looks fine now but not sure if he is still technically a carrier of the virus or what.

It's just disgusting that every year we have to count on injuries to blacks for our guys to become starters or get significant playing time. When does a white receiver ever get drafted and is automatically considered a starter? Almost never.

That's definitely true on Long. Carimi's a Jew right? I don't remember Shockey being promoted by the media until he ran roughshod over that dude in the middle of preseason. Gronkowski I don't know about.

Well, Young has never been good at throwing deep so Cooper's deep speed probably won't be used that much, he usually likes to throw short to intermediate passes, if he gets a good pass he could take it the distance. DeSean Jackson doesn't like going across the middle, or anything other than a go route so at least Cooper has the opportunity to get something thrown his way. He also knows how to play with a scrambling qb. DeSean Jackson has been lost this year. It sucks because Jackson would be perfect to line up in the slot ande Cooper on the outside when Maclin got back. He is good at getting yac because he is small and quick, but they tried running him on underneath stuff and the first time he got hit hard he decided he wasn't going anywhere near the middle. Instead they will probably keep Maclin and Jackson on the outside, despite Jackson not doing much this season.

I was looking all over YouTube for a reel on Jason Seahorn. Couldn't find one, only some crappy commercial/eye-candy? Just wondering do you have access to any film from him college or pro that you could use to make a hilight reel? My nephew is currently planning on switching to play S rather then CB, and FB instead of RB in his words "there are no white CB anywhere." He is going to be in high school next year and I need to help him get his mind right. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated, also if anyone knows of any white friendly training facilities in S. Nevada I would be very interested. Thanks in advance.

Cooper got 12 targets, so Vince Young knows something. On the corner route where Young was intercepted he threw to Cooper even though he was covered. I bet he makes that play over the DB in practice all the time. Interestingly, in the pre-season, Young was throwing to Chad Hall all of the time.

Jeremy Maclin hasn't practiced all week and is listed as doubtful on the team's injury report, so Riley most likely will be starting again this week.

And with DeSean Jackson being even more of a bonehead than usual this year and pouting over not getting a new contract, there's a pretty good chance he won't be on the team next year so Cooper could be starting in 2012.

I saw that ridiculous Weenieworld analysis as well. When Cooper had the 75 yard game they also claimed that a game like that is his ceiling. What a bunch of bull! If a guy finally starts a few games and puts up nice numbers is that all he's capable of? Oh yeah, I forgot. Cooper is white so he doesn't have the "upside" that all the bruthas have.

Yes, but we need to take Weenieworld's wise words into consideration. Cooper's maximum potential is 75 yards receiving in a single game.

The game started out about as good as Riley Cooper could have imagined.
On the third play from scrimmage against the Patriots, Cooper caught a 58-yard pass from Vince Young, which set up the Eagles first-and-goal from the four. LeSean McCoy punched in the touchdown.

On the Eagles’ second drive, Young threw the ball to Cooper again, this time a seven-yard strike.

"I was maybe thinking ‘Shoot, I might be a big factor of the game,’" Cooper said. "I was pumped, I was ready to go."

The next time Cooper caught a pass?

The Eagles’ last possession of the game, when the team was already trailing 38-13.

"I don’t know [why I didn’t get the ball]," Cooper said. "They weren’t doing anything we weren’t expecting. I don’t know what changed. The ball wasn’t coming my way and that’s the way it works sometimes."

Cooper made his second consecutive start of the season when the Eagles played the Patriots on Sunday. He caught three balls for 71 yards and was targeted five times, according to ProFootballReference.com.

In his first start, against the Giants, Cooper caught five passes for 75 yards and a touchdown and was targeted 12 times.

Cooper said that he and Young have a very good rapport, which stems from training camp. Ever since, the two have gotten plenty of work in together as backups in practice.

It looks like they’ll both get another chance to start on Thursday with Michael Vick and Jeremy Maclin both missing practice again on Tuesday.

"I don’t know Maclin’s deal but I’m willing to step up and help this team win as much as I can," Cooper said. "There are so many aspects of this game I can get better at. Have I done a decent job? I’ve been decent, but I need to get better."

I posted this in the Week 13 thread, but without the Weenieworld slam.

I was on the phone and had the sound off when the ball bounced off Cooper and was intercepted and Seattle ended up scoring a touchdown. What was interesting to watch without the sound was how many times they cut to a shot of a contrite Cooper, right after the pick, during Seattle's scoring drive, and after they scored. It would have been noticeable anyway with the sound on, but the sheer number of repetitive soundless shots of the "white goat" was startling, even for the CM media.

Like Jordy Nelson, who had a great Super Bowl but had a couple of drops that are still mentioned in most articles about him, Cooper will be repeatedly pinned with the bad hands label even if he doesn't drop another pass for the next year.

And right on cue, Weenieworld weighs in, declaring that he's not a starting caliber receiver despite leading the team in receiving in two of the three games he's started (maybe all three, I'm not sure). Because we all know black receivers never have costly drops: Riley Cooper led the Eagles with five catches and 94 yards against the Seahawks in Week 13. Cooper's 10 targets were five more than any other Eagles player, but this was a subpar performance overall. He lost at least forty yards on a pair of back-breaking drops, including one that led to an interception in the red zone. Cooper is a WR3 possibility if Jeremy Maclin (hamstring) can't return for Week 14, but he's proving that he's not a starting caliber NFL receiver.
