Kansas City Chiefs General Thread

How many more NFL lives will this thug receive?

TMZ reports Rashee Rice was accused of “violent and abusive behaviors” in a lawsuit filed by the mother of two of his children.
Dacoda Jones this week reportedly filed a lawsuit accusing Rice of “choking, strangling, scratching, hitting, and headbutting” Jones over a 19-month period. The lawsuit also says Rice broke furniture and punched holes in walls during arguments with Jones. Much of the violent behavior occurred while Jones was pregnant, according to the lawsuit. Rice’s alleged violence caused “bleeding, swelling, bruising, and other pain and physical injury to her neck, face, mouth, arms, legs, chest, and shoulder,” according to the lawsuit. Jones had previously accused Rice of abusive behavior in social media posts. This is Rice’s most recent run-in with the law after he fled the scene of a major automobile accident last offseason and was suspended by the NFL for the first six games of the regular season.
I'll actually be surprised if he is still on the team this year, whether incarcerated or not. In addition to his Tom Iron issues, he was a non-factor on the field after he came back from his 6-game suspension. Thug is the correct word for this fellow.

Drue Tranquill's "reward" for another solid season is to continue to be grossly underpaid by NFL standards.

Tranquill had his base pay for 2026 lowered from $6 million to $3.5 million, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Analysis: The move helps Kansas City save $2.5 million in cap space, per Garafolo, who also said Tranquill could have been a cap casualty if not for this renegotiation. Tranquill finished with 103 tackles (55 solo), including 2.0 sacks, a pass breakup, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 2025.

Perfect example of White Man’s Discount. A guy making 6 mil shouldn’t be expected to take a pay cut.

Not that I’d ever be in that position, but I would laugh in someone’s face if that were suggested.

So KC is in cap space trouble because they are paying an aging, non-impact sumo DT 45M, 34M for an injured QB and about 70M to 3 overrated sumos. Then they have another LB making 19M who you could argue isn’t much better than Tranquill, if at all. So do any of these guys have to take a payout from their bloated salaries, or just WT as usual?

PS - with all this money virtually wasted, I’d be shocked if the Chiefs were anything other than terrible this year.
