Ivy League football is an American institution and last night every major network outlet pretty much led off with the story that they cancelled fall sports. For years the Ivy was seen as an antiquated low level league. But that has drastically changed over the past five years. The jump in the level of talent is obvious. NSNBC sports was televising games for the past several years and in 2018 ESPN signed a ten year contract with the Ivy League. Usually a game or maybe two can be watched on ESPN networks every week and they have rights to the Harvard Yale tilt, a game that I thought was the best and most exciting game last year. It has already obtained mythic qualities since so much was on the line for Yale. And that crazy halftime not too mention it was getting dark during overtime. Ha.

The Ivy of course features the most white skill players of any college football league and not only do they play good football some have wondered where exactly does the Ivy League stand in relation to other leagues? I feel they could be competitive against low and even mid major FBS teams.

[Late edit. Players like RB Zane Dudek will be allowed to work out and keep himself in shape at the Yale workout facilities.]

Now I am going to jump forward. I am not predicting they won't play college football this year. But as a hypothetical if they don't play here is what I think should happen if they are able to safely play in the spring.

There are obstacles but I think everyone of them can be overcome with careful planning and most importantly the NFL adjusting to the situation. I will go on the assumption that the coast is pretty clear with the virus and teams can travel freely etc.

While it would buck up against college basketball most football games are limited to mainly Saturday games. Best case scenario is the season starts as early as January but one can fit in a pretty full schedule starting as late as early March. If they have to chop down anything I would prefer they lop off the conference championships and keep the non conference games.

I keep hearing that the Combine is in February and the draft is in late April as if it is set in stone. Well hell move those damn dates NFL.

Players need a few weeks off to prepare for the combine so I would push the combine to three weeks after the final game. And then allow another few weeks for non combine players to have their pro days. They should move the draft roughly 5 weeks after the combine date.

That is how I think they should do it if they have to move the season into the spring. Of course I am sure there will be some idiots putting up stumbling blocks.

That said let's hope for a fall season. Some are cautiously optimistic but no one would be surprised if it doesn't happen either.

As for the NFL playing this fall if they do things right and follow all the protocols I see no reason why they shouldn't play. If the (now completed) German and still going English soccer leagues ( and the Italians are playing now too) can pull it off there should be no excuses for the NFL. Hell they even have their own private airplanes.

Ivy League cancelled is a bummer. I suppose it makes sense seeing as how NYC was a hotspot. Ohio State and lesser extent UNC following along doesn't bode well for a season.

I noticed they've ramped up their scamdemic again. This time using pawns like Harbaugh begging the masses to wear masks so we can have sports back lol.

Meanwhile Urban Cities have become killing zones. Just about every major city in the US I have looked up is on pace to surpass last year's murder rate. Not even going to be close when it's all said in done. A Toledo player was just gunned down in Toledo outside of a pizza restaurant.

Big 10 is going “conference only” for all sports this year

It comes down to being on top of the situation and playing something close to a real season. What we don't want is some half ass affair that gets interrupted in season that forces cancellations and disruptions. If they can't play a solid type of schedule then I am all for waiting until the spring. The Ivy League has not ruled out spring football.

That said I can live with the Big Ten going "conference only" if it insures true stability. It fills the requirements of a solid set up in these extraordinary times. If that's what it takes I can live with that. Other conferences might want to follow suit. I suspect if the Big Ten is doing this most others will follow suit. The Big Ten and the SEC are the two big boys on the block. The most important thing is to get a nice season in this fall and not frig it up by getting too cute and taking on risks that makes them give up before it all starts.

Here are the big games we will miss out on though:

Michigan at Washington

Ohio State and Oregon

Miami at Michigan State

Notre Dame at Wisconsin

Stupid just cancel all sports. Covid-1984 has ruined 2020 and you know they'll keep it going until elections and there will be riots regardless of who wins.. Sick of this **** lol.

I know many will be pissed about Wisconsin Vs Notre Dame being cancelled. I personally know of people who bought tickets 5 years ago when they first announced Lambeau as the location!

I wonder if the Ivy League players will be allowed to stay for a 5th season. Pretty sure they are normally not able to redshirt - could be wrong though. Their were quite a few good ivy league players that are getting hurt by this decision with Zane Dudek being the poster boy for this bad news.

I read an article about ZD willing to play spring ball or transferring for his last year to another school.....Either way, cool......

I agree 100%, but would prefer to live in denial for a couple more weeks before they make it official.

Unless a guy is going to take a graduate course I can't see too many doing this. This is the Ivy Leauge and most students will graduate and seek employment in the post pandemic employment market.

Even a fringe free agent type would probably have enough good tape for a camp body type invite. The player I would feel sorry for is a senior who is under the radar and ready to break out and become this guy or a late round flyer type.

The Deep State played the virus theater card too early because I assume this is to rid us of Trump and while it sounds good on Twitter by the election time even Suzy Soccer Mom will be mad as hell at virus tyranny. Even low IQ democratic voters will be mad as hell especially if their baby boy can't play ball and he is sitting on the couch at home.

The SEC is already planning on playing football, Columbia, Missouri already exempted the campus from the mask theater so that is proof that virus theater is just that. I think the virus tyrants will come up against their own people soon enough then buckle. Are they going to cancel SEC ball, IMO nope.

But if they do at least start I think the ACC and Pac -12 will announce shortly they are going the only conference play route too. Followed by the Big 12. The SEC will likely be the last holdover of the Power 5 but I suspect they will reluctantly go along with that plan too.

They do have plans to keep the 4 game playoff title determination. But that leaves a few more questions.

And lastly there are the Independents most notably Notre Dame. Even though I grew up Catholic I have never loved Notre Dame. They are arrogant and deeply obnoxious and have always felt they are above the fray which is why they have remained an Independent all these years. Keep in mind though the rest of Notre Dame sports teams are a part of the ACC now. So chances are pretty solid the ACC will welcome them in this season. You can bet on it. And I imagine the Pac-12 will welcome in BYU for this season as well.

That probably leaves the other free lancers out to dry. Army had a cute game scheduled with Princeton which is gone now. There are a few others including UMASS and UCONN ( who just this year became an Independent) who might be hung out to dry?

It is rather obvious pulling off college football is a hell of a lot harder than pulling off pro sports like the NHL ( which should have been up and running 2-4 weeks ago in Canada), the NFL (chances are very good they will play) and tennis ( which has slowly but surely started up now). Being proactive like the Big Ten at least is a good sign. In contrast think of MLB.

MLB had no plan. And the one they have now is half ass. Why one may ask? Well the owners don't give a rat's ass if they play this season that is why. They have made big bucks the past few years and baseball to them is just another side business with a portfolio. They added up the lost revenue anticipated without fans in the seats and just said the hell with it. They have no passion for the game and disdain their players. Want proof see what they initially offered Mike Trout to play this season. At the end of the day they could care less if they end up destroying baseball. Not the kind of attitude to keep a sport going.

A shame because baseball is such a great American institution. This is what happens when you have the worst commissioner in all of pro sports in Rob Manfred. The man is a nightmare.

But money is a huge incentive for colleges to get their football going and they are going to try their hardest to see it through. And who knows maybe they can put a few fannies in the seats as well. It may not work out but it won't be from lack of trying.

Agree with you but must say this. The sport is dying no matter what. Anything played outdoors is dying, football included. The younger people just don't care. If young boys don't care, then it's over. When I see young boys play around here, I'm struck by two things. One is their obvious lazy manner of play and their overall weakness. It's obvious their parents care more for the game than they do and when you watch them field they're very much fearful of the ball, plus their arm strength is extremely poor. The third baseman and shortstops can't reach first base on the fly with a thrown ball and the catcher can't reach second base on the fly with a thrown ball. As to the coaches, they either don't know or don't care enough to correct a player who does something dumb right in front of him. If I were one of these owners, I'd be looking to get rid of my team PDQ.

On that theme ( sort of) a recent study showed a 32% decline in children head injuries during the 2012-2018 time span.25% of the drop occurred in young football players. They estimated a combination of new safety rules and a decrease in participation are listed as the reasons for the drop.

Since 2010 there has been a near 25% decrease in youth participation for football. I do not have racial data on these stats but my best guess is White children more than black children are more likely to refrain from playing. Again without data it is hard to say how much of a gap appears between the two races but once again my best guess is that drop in number is mainly do to White drop out.

I figure blacks are much more likely to take on the risks associated with football since the possible rewards outweigh the dangers. I think many lower to middle class class black kids come from an environment where sports are encouraged above all because the alternatives aren't as attractive. The emphasis blacks put on sports cannot be underestimated. It far outweighs White interest in my estimation.

Meanwhile I can envision a White family sitting around the kitchen table with anxious mothers steering their athletically minded sons into less dangerous sports like baseball, tennis and soccer. Maybe basketball too although that culture might scare off many White suburban families. Although it should be pointed out studies are showing repeated heading of the soccer balls is ringing alarm bells for young boy and girl soccer players. I think they are making adjustments in youth soccer now and it appears girls are more prone to head injuries than the boys.

The point being we could see an even more caste football playing field down the road as Whites continue to flee at an even greater rate while blacks continue playing football at an unabated rate. The last thing we need is an even more caste set up in college football and the NFL but I am afraid the trends might lead in that direction.
It seems to me overall five to ten years from now we could be watching an NFL game with even less White players than we see today. What an ugly thought.

It is difficult to interpret these studies as anything but bad news for people who want to see a more racially balanced NFL in the future. Meaning substantially more White players. Will it result in more White players in other sports? Hard to envision that given what we have witnessed over the years but one can hope something positive comes out of this?

I can't see this as anything but a bad omen for the future in football and White participation. Things are tough enough with the caste barriers in place now. This only adds an extra toxic ingredient.

My local powerhouse large HS contender is 1/3 Asian and not a one goes out for football, and from what I hear they are basically insular sticking with their own kind so their parents and community must absolutely be ruthless in steering them away from black culture and its idiocy. If I would have had a son I don't think I would want him playing past youth football where weight and age are factored in, my genetics while it looks like a football player I have light bones and ligaments I don't have that football or rugby toughness.

I agree with Tomiron if I were a goy NFL owner I would have sold on the rebound in 2019, now I have no doubt the jewish owners will get rescued from their bad bets and perhaps even blow another sports franchise bubble but the goy owners must know in their hearts they have a target on their backs regardless of a bubble to be created to bail them out. Witness ESPN/ABC/Disney the transfer of stock bubble money to ESPN to the NBA.

WR Brandon Legendre who turned down offers from Arizona State, Kansas, Kentucky, Notre Dame, SMU, TCU, UCF, Utah, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, and more to go to Louisiana has left the program after one season. There was no reason listed for leaving and he isn’t in the transfer portal. Let’s hope he hasn’t given up football.

Georgia redshirt sophomore QB JT Daniels has been grant immediate eligibility.
Daniels transferred into Georgia in May, and instead of having to satisfy transfer requirements by sitting out the 2020 season, the former five-star quarterback for USC is eligible immediately. Now the question becomes whether or not the redshirt sophomore will. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound signal-caller will have to beat out Jamie Newman for the job; who also transferred into Athens from Wake Forest. This will be one of the most interesting quarterback battles in the country -- assuming, of course, there is a season -- and we'd say Newman has a slight leg up just because of his dual-threat ability.

Rice picked up a transfer from BC, WR Christian McStravick. Should have two years left. He is a big receiver at 6'4" 205.

But I noticed something while glancing at the Rice roster. They probably have the most White WRs on their roster in the FBS.

Starters Bradley Rozner and senior Austin Trammell have write ups in the 2020 Wide Receivers thread. Both are very good players.

Speedy Zane Knipe is likely their third receiver so expect to see him get plenty of playing time. A bolt of lightning.



Other White wide receivers include:

Caleb Chappelle
Casey Tawa
Austin Conrad
Chris Boudreaux
Michael Haack
Ryan Wallace ( pretty sure he is White)

In case you are wondering ( ha) teams won't be following Rice's lead. It doesn't help that Rice usually never wins although they are very competitive. They have very high academic Ivy League like standards. Naturally I will be on the frontlines rooting for them win or lose.

Iowa has standards under Ferentz and they don't fall in line with what the black players who CHOSE to attend Iowa wanted. Iowa remains as one of the very few programs that have been better than average in terms of fairness to white athletes at most positions. Ungrateful black players are whining and trying to get Ferentz out and destroy the Iowa football program.

Yep exactly. These entitled ******** think everyone should cater to them instead of having to fall in line with a program. Why would they even want to go to Iowa in the first place? Iowa has been my favorite team since I have became aware of the caste system and even though they produce a decent number of white athletes that make it to the NFL the black athletes from Iowa still get more attention. Look no further than last year when Jake Gervase who was a very good safety (had one of the best bowl games vs Florida I have seen) gets cast aside during the draft process while Amani Hooker was a 4th round pick. Gervase was the better player but of course goes undrafted in 2019. The caste system can surely blow the lid off this BS Iowa story and destroy college football if white athletes would band together and tell their stories - from being neglected as recruits to their treatment by black teammates, the discrimination from their coaches etc. I wonder where that Josh guy is from USA Today - here's his story :rolleyes:

I got news for these guys even jobs viewed as lowly ie McDonalds workers have to have a corporate look. I remember working there for 6 months and seeing the employee hand book and men couldn't have hair longer than their collar and no beards or counter culture facial hair.

I remember one incident where a line cook who could grow a beard in high school faked a shaving laceration and wore a bandage so that he could sport a few days growth of beard and he was ethnic Italian. I would be willing to bet Iowa coaches would bust the balls of a Nordic looking guy who wanted to look like Conan the Barbarian with wild flowing locks too.

Also if you want to play for any of the military academies and maybe Notre Dame you have to look like Iowa players. There is no way that this rule of being clean cut only extends to Blacks.....
