Here's video of the 200m race.
I found the 2nd commentator's remarks at the very end of the clip, quite interesting.
The 1st commentator says excitedly, something like, 'Lemaitre was really having a go at Edwards almost chasing him down at the end, wasn't he?'
And the 2nd commentator sounds not excited at all, saying something like, "well if he could ever learn to run the turn, clean-up his technique, then maybe he could win a race". But the tone of his voice was saying, "but we know that's never going to happen".
He sounds as disappointed and fed-up with Lemaitre as most of us here.

Everyone knows Lemaitre is not being trained properly....except for one, who shall not be named, thinks otherwise.
Lemaitre=the most talented athlete that may never show his full potential.

"Alonso Edward has big talent", yes you're right

"Lemaitre made good race", so-so his finish is very bad (last 100M = 9.84 basic time) Christophe can run btwn 9.50 and 9.55

"Probably he is the best runner 100m between all these runners and it is not logical that he arrive to 100m in not very good position..." his position is not so bad and alonso edward ran 10.02 (+1m)

Sorry but Lemaitre only can to run 9.50-9.55 in a great race and in very good shape.
Yesterday he did not run very good and he is not 100% yet, ok?

In my opinion his level is superior to all other runners yesterday in 100m, so his position should to be better yesterday when he began last 100m

When he gets good bend, he will get sub 19.7, not before.

and in the 100m, 'when he gets a good start, he will run sub 9.90'.

The problem is that after several years now, Lemaitre never gets a good start and never runs a good bend'.
So it's not a matter of 'when', but 'if he ever'.

In my opinion in 100m he will never get a good start, only an average start
But in 200m it is very possible that he gets a good bend and in great shape and with good rivals i see him running sub 19.7

I have done track (middle distance, not sprints) and several other sports throughout my life. One thing I have learned that almost nobody outside sports understands is that overtraining is much more common and destructive than undertraining. Almost nobody at an elite level in sports undertrains.

His already training for ~8 years... how much longer do he need to finally run a good bend ?????? :tsk:
When he goes a different direction and cleans up his house...the only way the body breaks a plateau is to do a 360 in training and methods. He needs a different approach...then realistically 9.8 and 19.5 He is built to do it, but dosen't have the right 'guidance' now that he is at the elite level...Im not the only one who believes this. The French media have even questioned Lemaitre's guidance. They all know he is not being handled properly.

No question in my mind he can improve on his start. NO QUEStION ABOUT IT! The people behind him, just don't know how to do it or refuse to follow methods that is not native to their culture/language etc.

fault

Christophe himself is partly to blame.

He could use his own common sense. For example, he could look at Jimmy Vicaut and say, "I used to be able to beat this guy, what has changed?" "Hey, his body is more muscular, and he's more explosive." "What is he doing that I'm not?"

The Savoyard, 2nd in the 200m in 20'' 24, improved his best time of the season but was beaten by the Panamanian Edward yesterday in Rome.

Pierre Carraz was right. We have to wait two weeks to see the great Lemaitre on track. Savoyard coach, with his long experience, also knew that chrono around 20'' 10, the ambition of his protégé, would be excellent last night in Rome. The four-time champion of Europe, driven by his desire to do well, had set the bar a little high at this stage of the season.
"I had heavy legs"

The times around 20'' 00 will be for later. In Roman Olympic Stadium that sounded a little hollow in the absence of Usain Bolt, Christophe Lemaitre, yet placed his favorite corridor, finished second in the 200 m, in 20'' 24 behind the vice world champion 2009 The Panamanian Alonso Edward (20'' 19 wind 0.9 m / s).

Upon arrival, the Aix pouted. "The clock is disappointing. Normally, with the finish that I have, I thought I would catch up. But I had heavy legs. I felt finished a 400 m. I have no explanation. Even in the Interclub, I did not have this problem. However, initially, I was, I quickly caught up with Martina. "

Nevertheless, the Savoyard sprinter continues its chronometric progression this season, with six hundredths better than his first outing of the year on the half-lap (20'' 30 in Aix-les-Bains on May 18). It is also the 9th Global performance of the year and the first European.
It will be developed in early July

Next week, Christophe Lemaitre should in principle play the 100 step Oslo Diamond League, where he would find Jimmy Vicaut, impressive on the right line this season. Then it will be the European Championships for teams in Germany, on 21 and 22 June, theoretically a new 200 m program Big Blonde. Before his first major appointment in 2014, the meeting in Lausanne on July 3, another stage of the Diamond League where Savoyard find the Jamaican Yohan Blake and arrows Nickel Ashmeade. There he will be ready.

from T&F News today

French sprinter Christophe Lemaitre has pulled out of this weekend's European Athletics Team Championships in Braunschweig, Germany, because of a thigh injury.
Lemaitre, who had been picked to compete in his favoured 200m, will be replaced by Jeffrey John.
"While doing a speed session on Tuesday eventing, Christophe Lemaitre felt a pain in his right thigh, high on the quadriceps, when crossing the line in his last 150m," the French athletics federation said.
A scan showed there was no muscle tear but as the pain conintued, the sprinter's doctor Fabrice Descombes and French team doctor Jean-Michel Serra decided Lemaitre had to rest up until a second scan next week.
The world 200m bronze medallist, who is also reigning double European 100m champion had also pulled out of last week's Diamond League meeting in Oslo.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but I just found a youtube video of Lemaitre training with weights. I don't have the savvy to post it but the video is under " How bad do you want it " which also features Usain Bolt. I thought it has been posted here many times Lemaitre does not weight train. I don't know how often he does do it but the video clearly has him working his legs while holding on to a bench press bar and he is also seen bench pressing as well. Just my 2 cents.

Lemaitre and weights

Yeah, I've seen the vid of lifting a few light weights in the headphone ad.

It's looks like he's doing squats with 135 pounds (high school freshman weight at a late stage in his development).

Check out the vid of Teddy Tamgho the triple jumper lifting weights. I think that's what the people here have in mind for Lemaitre.

Very good race for Lemaitre in 20.11 but again very bad bend
Uff he only needs to run better 1st half for to get sub20.

Good luck for Paris, perhaps he is very near 10.00

people are so immature and hostile.

Your comparison with jimmy and Christophe are stupid, it's not the same morphotype :huh:

I just missed the race by a few minutes but was very happy to see Lemaitre put up a nice time. I wasn't expecting him to run that fast coming off an injury but I'm happy he did. It will be a good test to see him race over 100 meters in Paris with only 2 days of rest. I hope he
can recover efficiently and get around 10 flat or even a sub 10. I can't remember the last time he was sub 10. It would do so much for his confidence. He needs to know that he is getting into better shape as the French and eventually European Champs approach. Keep up the
good running Christophe!

An account of Lemaitre's race from the T&FN message board:

"Even the 200 is starting to look too short for Lemaitre. He looked easily as good down the home straight as Van Niekerk, he just wasn't in the picture after the first 100. It would be interesting to see him try a 400 this year."

That is a stupid quote. They wanted Wariner to go up to the 800 and they only do that with white sprinters. I go to that message board all of the time. Some of the posters are ok but too many use caste speak and they are great at putting down white sprinters.

Lemaitre ran 20.11 in his first race back after injury. He hadn't raced in three weeks. He is number one on the european season lists for the 200 meters. I'm sure his coach said to take it easy on the corner. This wasn't for a championship so there was no need to risk injury but running all out on the curve. I'm very happy with his time and his closing speed. This is only the beggining. He will go sub 20 without a doubt again soon. Anyone that doubts that doesn't know track. A sub 10 in the 100 would be alot more difficult but he is still by far the best white sprinter on the planet. No one else other than Gemeli(who some don't count as white) can do what Lemaitre does. So we need to support the kid and not always bash him.

Good race today. I'm excited for Saturday in Paris. A sub 10.10 at this point would be a good starting point with only 2 days rest and coming off an injury. Come on PepeLeFlew!:becky:
