Is Jeremy Wariner still running? Sadly, Lemaitre's trajectory reminds me a lot of Jeremy's so far -- burst onto the scene as a rare White sprinting superstar, only to become slower when he was expected to improve.

Wariner is running but he is around 30 now and he has really slowed down.

While Christophe has had some minor setbacks due to training, coaching, injuries, etc, he is only 24 and he should get back to where he was soon. He still has a top end speed that few on earth can match. He just needs to get up to that speed quicker. His body has changed a bit in the last few years and hopefully he is slowly adapting to it.

WARINER

I've heard that Wariner wants to run 800m.
This year his best is 46.01.
400m are for young men because when you are 25 or older your recoverytimes (?) get longer.

To be fair he would have had a descent time if not for the wind. Christophe was the only one with a negative wind and -3.5 at that!

Let's see what he does in his next race. My guess is around a 10.15 - 10.19 or so. I think he has to get in alot better shape still as he is not in even close to top shape yet. I do see a high sub 10 wind legal but not too much more than that. In the deuce probably around a 19.85 - 19.90. Hopefully alot faster over both distances.

I think Wariner had a really good career.

He spent a few years as basically unbeatable in the 400 and he has the #2 all time mark for the 400 (I think, unless I'm missing someone), second only to Michael Johnson. Maybe Wariner was on the stuff, but it's pretty obvious Johnson was 'roided like a motherf*cker.

As for LeMaitre, he's still young enough to make some noise in the short sprints, but I think he's suffering the same thing as Pickering and Shirvington and Nagel and Wariner—he shows up and no one thinks he will do anything, then he shocks a lot of people and gains notice, then the pressures come in.

Anyway the racial component of sprinting doesn't seem to be such a huge thing, because ASIATICS are running competitive times (many times superior to Whites) and there's clearly NOTHING physically unique about them, so it's probably mostly a psychology thing, since the Japanese are hard workers and don't give a f*ck and are racist as hell.

Probably Whites are our own worst enemy, because of COURSE dumb a-holes from other races are going to talk sh*t—that's to be expected.

But it probably really galls on a young White sprinter when so many people of his own color are telling him to give up, that it's pointless, that he doesn't belong, etc.

The Japs don't get that from their own kind, which is why I think eventually more of them will crack a ten second hundred meter run than ours, until we stop shooting our guys in the foot.

All this is tongue in cheek however, since the best BLACK records for the hundred will be faster than ours.

I accept that in general the average Black sprinter might have a FRACTION of an advantage over the average White sprinter (just as Whites are in general superior in core and arm strength though no one will ever admit it), but at the elite level, there should be Whites in the mix, and there aren't (unlike in the past) because Whites psych their own brothers out.

ALL elite sprinters are physical anomalies, and as such, it should be no surprise that there will be a few Black ones, White ones, Yellow ones, etc that are "special" from the general population.

The racist media likes to act as if some a-hole like Usain Bolt (whom I believe is juiced) is representative of the Black race in general, which is just a tacit admission that the Black race is in general mediocre and has to really "reach" in order to troll for signs of success.

I'm not a great believer in the Basic Time approach because there are so many other variables that affect performance on a given day - nature of wind, temperature, humidity, competitors, track surface, etc. But comparing the 2014 performances of Vicaut (9.95) and Lemaitre (10.31) (assuming Aix altitude of 250m) there is only a 0.02 second difference using: http://myweb.lmu.edu/jmureika/track/wind/

I admit the 20.30 is more impressive considering he was on the outside lane 8 which is difficult to run especially for taller runners, and no one to push him. his legs look very muscular

Actually Lane 8 is better for tall runners because the curve is less than the inside lanes.
The disadvantage is not being able to see any of the other competitors.

Line 8 is not that bad that is true, but a good line for Christophe is line 6, cause line 8 means you run without having someone to catch and we all know Christophe like that.

I don't think he will have a career like Pickering or Shrivington, those guys were starters guys while Lemaitre is a finisher.

He has gold in his legs cause keeping the top speed is the hardest thing to do in a sprint and it is defintely his strong point. That s why I think he will keep running in the 9'95-10'05 range for a long time.

In the 200m, he has the european record and will probably beat it some day.

Even if people think he did not improve, he did very good things in training, now he has to do it in races, but last year he was insanely fast on 200m and remember that he did a nice 10'00 to make the final in Moscow.

Anyway, in 1 or 2 month everyone will become supporter once he will have make a sub 20'00 and a sub 10'10 100m

Yes, but I still think he is a 9.8 100 guy and possible 19.6 200 guy. Shirvington and Pickering were strong starters (and weight room strong, Shirvo Front squatted 400 pounds and Pickering was cleaning and pressing over 350), not Elite Speed like Lemaitre. Again hate to repeat myself but Strength is very important and much easier to improve for the start, thats why I am baffled why Lemaitre who ran sub 10 a few times 3 years ago, with a very weak body as far as strength/musculature (in comparison to other sprinters) has not improved his starts. Hopefully I will eat my words and he shocks us all, but it has been 3 years.

Gatlin confirmed that he is in big shape, but that -3.5 en Tokyo is very very doubtful.
Probably would be around -2.5 maximum and 9.90 real basic time perhaps.
It is my opinion.

I dont think that Gatlin and Rodgers get their best basic time in their lifes and that few minutes before the wind was -0.8 m/s in 100 m women, and -1.2 m/s in 200m men before too.
And Gatlin travelling since Kingston to Tokyo, half world, and with jet lag

If Lemaitre want to get sub20 or sub 19.8 he should to be getting several sub10 this year too, 9.96 ,9.98,.. something around it

Regards

Gatlin 9.87 (0.0) today

Yes but the wind in that event was very doubtful in my opinion.
In his next races Gatlin was always near 9.90 basic time(9.92 and 9.87), and probably his real basic time in Tokyo was around it.
It would be around 10.20 basic for Lemaitre in that race or perhaps being optimistic 10.10-10.15 with average wind, it is not bad time.

I imagine that Lemaitre soon will be 10.0-10.1 in his next races, and with luck , in good shape and with good wind, some 9.9 high in this season, it is very good time

In 200 his options are a lot of better, he is really talented in that event :icon_wink:

I doubt so much that Lemaitre gets 9.8 in 100 in his life.
It is not impossible, but it would be something style, perfect race with good start(he will never have great start) with near 2.0 m/s wind.
And it would be 9.8 high, 9.88,9,89,...
100M is not his best event sure.

Dammit. Another disappointment by LeMaitre. 20.24 for second place behind a no-name. I had my hopes high after reading an article about LeMaitre this morning in which he seemed to be expecting a 20-flat time. But, as in every race for the past three years, he simply didn't have it this time. He actually ran a decent first half for a change, but didn't have the huge acceleration in the second half that he used to have.

Yes, you are very ignorant.
Alonso Edward has big talent, he had several hard years with injuries recently, and he was silver medal in Berlin 2009, with great time 19.81
And this year he is the best runner in this moment in 200m, with 20.00 and 20.07, very good shape.
NO NAME????

Lemaitre made good race, good time although i waited a little bit better.
Again his bend was weak.
Probably he is the best runner 100m between all these runners and it is not logical that he arrive to 100m in not very good position...

By the other hand, i must in Lemaitre
Soon sub20

"Alonso Edward has big talent", yes you're right

"Lemaitre made good race", so-so his finish is very bad (last 100M = 9.84 basic time) Christophe can run btwn 9.50 and 9.55

"Probably he is the best runner 100m between all these runners and it is not logical that he arrive to 100m in not very good position..." his position is not so bad and alonso edward ran 10.02 (+1m)

Every time Christophe doesn't run the time he wants he says his legs feel heavy. If that is the case, he is either over-training or not warming up properly. Do his coaches realize this?
