Damn, I played tennis during the race :icon_mad: :icon_mad: :icon_mad: :icon_mad:

9,92 ! I'm really happy. He's near the 9,8x !

The wind is strong ok, but that's great.

And saturday ? Maybe 19,9x ?

Beautiful time. He definitely runs better when he doesn't have to worry about the competition. I think running behind Bolt and Powell distracts him and forces him into bad habits. He'll go sub-20 this weekend as long as the wind cooperates.

If anyone finds a better video, with slow motion or better angles, please post it.

Anyone have the reaction time ?

Vicaut is now officialy the second french runner in 100m. The French team will be great in the future if we found one or two other fast runners.

Edit : well, 9,92 at 21 age... damn, what is the best time of Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell at 21 ?

Unflipping believable!! I'm so proud of this kid. I missed the race because I had to work but I have watched the video sevaral times. I'm so happy he got the new record. He did have a mediocre start but damn did he show off the wheels. He had great lift over the last part of the race. He almost looked like he was going to take off. Haha. Congrats to the real "White Lightning".

Next up is a sub 20 as long as he didn't reinjure his groin. Way to go Pepe! They don't call him the "Master" for nothing!

I'm not a follower of track but according to Wikipedia is Christophe runs a 9.85 or better he'll be in the top 12 all time for 100meters.

Twinsen, here is the list of the twelve fastest athletes in the 100 meter of all time from Wikipedia. Since he ran a 9.92 he's only .07 seconds away from cracking this list which would be incredible. I'm hoping by in the next few years he gets down to 9.7.

When he hits 9.85, what will make me the most happy will be the fact that Carl Lewis was never able to run as fast as a white guy. On a side note, I just checked IAAF.org and only 31 guys have ever run faster than Lemaitre! He is headed up and up! I really believe there are many others out there like him.

Wow, I love this kid. So much to talk about. As much as I hate showboaters in sports I like when Lemaitre sticks his tongue out when he wins like this. We need a few more white athletes to show a little backbone and celebrate their accomplishments.
The bad news is that Lemaitres other sub 10 times with maximum wind would all be around 9.92. Hes not getting any faster which scares me. I understand hes probably never going to run 9.75 but I hope he can squeeze another 10th of a second out in his career. At least we know hes not juicing which cant easily be said for many other sub 9.9 black runners.
The other good news is his stat wasnt even mediocre. With a killer start and maximum wind he could run a 9.88.
What kills me is every sprinter I have ever known or seen runs about 65 to 70 meters and hits maximum speed. Lemaitre seems to hit 60 and then actually accelerates. Other than Carl Lewis Ive never seen people actually run faster after 60 or 70 meters. Im wondering if Lemaitre was 2 inches taller and a longer stride what could he really run. If Bolt isint roiding I think Lemaitre is his equal speed wise but not stride length. Well viva Lemaitre and I think a top 4 in Daegu is possible but 7th is probably more likely.

Thanks for sharing this video Twinsen9. What stood out to me was the considerably small builds of the black "French" sprinters. Noticeably smaller than their Jamaican counterparts (both of which share West African genes). This is a good point to make to those that argue that Jamaican dominance is solely due their cultural affinity for track. In a first world nation with first world testing facilities, these "French" blacks have normal builds. In a third world nation with third world testing facilities, Jamaican sprinters have hyper-muscular builds.

Jamaicans are more muscular than all the other sprinters competing in the 4 x 100m. They still, however, loose to Italy :)

Nice.fasest white guy leamitre is running away from the fastest others non ******** records lol.
Its good that in events we whites are 'horrible' whites are even second place.
You can see the big wind from a positive side and say the times he runs he can run consistanly, the netto running so this is why his fasest race is very likley to be with a big wind.So it doesn't always say it is relatively less then a guy with a pr of 0.4 wind, that can never come close again no mather the wind.

Time to change this thread title again, 9.92... yeah!!!! :high5::high5::high5:

He had quite a bad start, but enjoyed a maximmum allowable tail wind (+2.0 m/s) to set his new personal best.

He needs to continue working on his reaction time, and he could go as low as 9.80-85 if possible.

For the record, Christophe Lemaitre (9.92) is now the FASTEST Non-West African sprinter EVER. Patrick Johnson of Australia (9.93) is the former record holder.

First off, I hope someone will post a link to today's racing, although I don't know if I'll be in to watch it live (like most people, I missed yesterday's).

Secondly, I want to underscore the importance of the 200. A couple of weeks ago, after his 200 v. Bolt, I pointed out that the 200 was clearly Christophe's best event; he completely buried the field in that race (not counting Bolt). Yesterday, Bolt ran the 200 in Stockholm. He won by a wide margin, although his time was only 20.03. After the race, Bolt had to squat down and breathe heavily. Two years ago, when he was massively roided, Bolt could run a completely dirty 19.19, and he didn't even slow down after the race, but just kept galloping for hundreds of yards, celebrating without the slightest need to draw an extra breath. I said it before (and received little support), but I'll say it again: If Bolt, Powell, Gay, Blake, etc, run without roids, Christophe can and will beat all of them for the Olympic 200 gold in 2012. He is ready to blow past 20.03--and he does it clean.

we will see what bolt will do at daegu and at the olympics
he said that this year he only wanted to win but didn't plan to run as fast as in 2008-2009 (less drugs)
but he said that in london 2012, he wanted to beat his own record (up the dosage)
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/more_sport/athletics/article6721118.ece

as for tyson gay, nothing allows me to think he will be cleaner than he was in 2008-2009

and we can expect also a lot of guys that come out of nowhere like alonso edward in 2009 (19.81)
or like nesta carter this yaer

but in daegu in the 200m, lemaitre has a great opportunity, with bolt being less drugged-up and gay not here

Yeah, I have to agree with you, Frederic; we never know when a new roider is going to pop out of the shadows and steal a medal. Let's just keep our fingers crossed that the testers are getting better.

Meanwhile, here is an unusually detailed English article on Christophe:
Another national record for Lemaitre

And here is a characteristically shorter French article (why are French notices always so brief?). The highlight is Christophe's coach saying there is nothing left for him to do but "Travailler, Travailler, et encore travailler!" (Work, Work, and Work some more!!) He calls yesterday's performance "pas mauvais" (not bad). Neither Christophe nor his coach seemed to think it was a really great run for him, despite the time.

The wind was +3.5. I imagine CL didn't work very hard in the semis, though. Yesterday, he ran a much faster time in the finals than the semis. I'm hoping for the same today.
