Well, after just his first game action on defense, a lot of people are already mad at Justin Blatchford for even being on the field with NU's nickel D against UTC today and calling for him to be replaced by someone with speed.

The best player on Notre Dame right now is Harrison Smith, he has been all over the place. If it wasn't for that muffed punt return by that black guy and the fumble on the one returned for a TD Notre Dame would have won that game.

Portland State's AA hire coach yanked Cory McCaffrey after the first quarter because he said they needed to get the "young guys" some work. I'm not aware of any coach who would bench his starting runningback so early in the game when he's got a chance to win major awards on the season. It's not like he couldn't mix other players in throughout the game. But Cory's day was through. And he finished with only 69 yards. Not much chance of him leading the conference (or all of FCS) in rushing this year if his coach is going to be an ass.

In other 'Screwed Over' news:
As expected Derek Lawson was just a token cracker for Arkansas State. He was listed #1 on the depth chart and he was on the field for the first snap, but his day was mostly over after that. He finished with 4 carries.

Jonathan Warzeka only got one carry for Air Force.

It looks like we're going to have to wait for SMU's game for any FBS white runningback to possibly gain 100 yards this week. Matt Perez for Indiana had to split carries in their miserable loss to Ball State.
I'm not sure FCS was much better. Jonathan Hernandez for UMass had 151 yards. Other than that...?

I'm lovin' the Boise St vs. Georgia game. Moore and his receivers are shredding Georgia's 'D', 28-7. I heard it a couple times, once to my face, that Boise St wouldn't be as good this year because "they lost all of their good receivers." Well, they can guess again.

Hopefully, Georgia will have another poor season and they'll get rid of Richt.

LaMichael James:
15 carries 36 yards (2.4avg), Long 11yd

So much for Luh-Michael's Heisman campaign. I'm sure ESPN is heartbroken.

I worked at the bar today. Everyone was cheering for Boise State at the bar I work at, unfortunitly BSPN only show DWF on there channel. Just like they refuse to reveal that Danny Woodheads jersey is selling second to only Tom Brady for New England Patriot sales.

Does anyone know why Sam McGuffie isn't playing against Texas? Thanks in advance.

McGuffie hobbling: Rice running back Sam McGuffie, the team's leading rusher last season, was kept out for most of the game as a precaution because of a nagging leg injury.
McGuffie had one carry for four yards and also completed a 15-yard pass, both on the Owls' first second-quarter possession.

"We looked at the big picture and didn't want to get him hurt for the rest of the season," Rice coach David Bailiff said.

Anybody notice that Oregon State lost to Sacramento State?

At least Jordan Jenkins got on the field in the passing game (4c 55y).

Yesterday, BYU’s offense was even more putrid than it was for certain portions of last season. Their black flankers, particularly “Apo,” appear to run in super slow motion. Replacing those turtles should be Bronco Mendenhall’s first order of business. They didn’t deserve to win this game, though, of course, I’m very glad they did. “Ole Afro Miss” will be a truly awful team this season…as will BYU if they don’t make the proper changes offensively. Jordan Pendleton, Daniel Sorenson and company can't win every game.

Boise State shredded Georgia’s eleven African’s with superior speed, agility, quickness and athleticism. In typical black fashion, their “highly conditioned” defense was struggling for air, hands on their hips, making substitutions every 2-3 plays, etc.

Matt Miller, for instance, could fly past defenders whenever he pleased…

LSUs toughness defeated Oregon's finesse, 40-27. And, in this case, Oregon was the team that was being billed as the "more explosive/unstoppable/speedier team..." :icon_rolleyes:

It's not that LSU has "all the talent in the world" -- but they do have an innate toughness that Oregon (and several other West Coast schools) don't possess. Thus, it becomes a match-up problem. And, Darron Thomas is a guy that the media built-up that we might see "trend" down the path of Jacory Harris.. similar stick-figure builds - too.

At this point, I'm hoping that Oregon suffers at least 2 more losses on the season.

Even though it was a very ugly win for BYU, I'll take it anytime! Blake Sorensen's comments were vindicated by the win and the affletic SEC looks bad, so I'm happy! Glad to see the Broncos stuff the Blackdogs of Georgia as well. My wife and I had a great time watching those two games with the Dixie Destroyer family!

The Boise St and BYU wins were both a great way to kick off the season. I was glad to see Oregon lose as well.

JJ DiLuigi had a solid start to the season with 88 yards from scrimmage. Quezada looked like crap so I don't think there will be much of a rbbc, just split carries between JJ and Kariya. If they could get McKay Jacobson more envolved the offense would be better, they didn't seem to get him involved until the 2nd half.

Martinez will be the best dual threat qb this season, he already is the best running qb imo. I know this will disturb the media, Martinez and Burkhead running wild. Both have a chance of rushing for 1,000.

Unbelievable, the announcer just called Line a feature back.

Line has 7 carries for 74 yards and a TD!

He has a shot at 200 tonight at this pace. I like how Jones doesn't stick to his scheme just because its his scheme, some coaches are stubborn like that and will keep passing, but he sticks with Line.

The announcer also said he had very quick feet on that td run!

number 70 is a big sumo, Beachum

Ryan Swope having a great night as well. Too bad he is playing his racial appropriate role of slot receiver rather than runningback, where excelled in high school. I remember thinking he was one of the top backs coming out that year.
