Someone mentioned Welbeck played great. Other than a couple of nice early runs, he didn't do anything.

ESPN commentators just said Ballotelli was the reason Italy won, and Michel Ballack took it a step further, saying his play was the reason Italy could attack. Yeah right... Candreva's easily the Man of the Match. A lot of the guys on Big Soccer can even see through that.

Like I've said, EVERYTHING Italy does WILL be credited to Ballotelli. Listening to Van Nistlerooy, Ballack, and Roberto Martinez spew this BS about him is just confirmation of that. Although they do give credit to Pirlo and Candreva, etc.

I want Spain, Germany, or Russia to win it... Argentina with their great white players like Messi, Higuain, etc. would be great as well. If Italy were to play any other team other than those three, than Italy.

Of course the ESPN headline is "Super Mario Powers Italy."

It's so ridiculous how he's being worshiped by the media, especially when they tell his story and how he has to fight so much waycism in Italy throughout his life. For example, when asked what impressed him the most today, Alexi Lalas from ESPN just said, "Mario, Mario, Mario." Even when the Italian white players do all the work, and he just finished a great ball in by Candreva, he got that much praise heaped on him. Ian Darke said during the goal "It just had to be him." I'm sick of hearing about this overrated punk. If Italy advance deep, it WILL be all him.

Like I've said, I won't cheer for Italy unless they play a team not in the group I'm about to list, like France or an African team for example.

Teams to root for (8 or more white starters): Russia, Bosnia, Croatia, Spain, Germany, Argentina (I think), Holland, Italy (maybe Portugal, but probably not).

Japan vs. Ivory Coast... 11 Asians vs. 11 blacks, two teams representing their nations. This is what the WC should be with ALL the teams. I guess Western Euro teams need not apply...

It was a fairly lousy 2nd day overall, with both Colombia and Ivory Coast winning, and of course "Super Mario" hype reaching disgusting levels. I wonder how Italians feel about him and whether they are proud of having this African represent their country.

The fact that they call him "Super" Mario is laughable. I think he's more of a Goomba. When I first heard about this guy, it was by name and he was known as this great "Italian" player. I searched him on Google, saw what he looked like and just laughed.

Throughout the buildup to the World Cup, all the media outlets were reporting Lallana was the most likely guy to start on the right. Then, all of the sudden, Sterling was "looking great" in training, and he was a "must-start" for the media, all within the last week, putting Lallana undeservedly on the bench.

I think Switzerland will have 8-9 white starters!*

*It's more than likely going to be the most multi-kulti mess I've ever seen; 2-4 of them will be Albanians, the striker will be from the Balkans. I think they'll only be about 5 actual Swiss starters. But, going up against Ecuador, I'd rather see the team wearing the Swiss uniform win.
