The McNabb deal is terrible. He was once a good (not great) QB but now he is simply too old. I thought Dan Snyder's tribe was supposed to be good with money, but apparently that goes out the window at the chance to throw money at a black QB.

In related black QB news, Vick is admittedly pretty good this season. But he's not 45-points-in-one-half good... it's our affletic defense that is making him look like a HOFer. This is a horrible day to be a Redskins fan.

Vick has been impressive. The McNabb deal doesn't make sense even whenn the talking heads try to claim "he can help groom any quarterback they decide to draft."

From what I could tell, Mike McGlynn dominated Albert Haynesworth the whole night.

Near the two minute warning at the end of the 2nd Quarter, Haynesworth crashed to the ground! McGlynn was handling him, but I couldn't entirely see what transpired from their limited angle... I wanted to see a broader view of the action.

Galloway, as I've mentioned many times on here before, was a starter earlier in the season for the Blackskins. So far this year he has a whopping 9 catches for 181 yards. Even though he's no longer a starter, he's still the teams number three receiver. I could think of dozens of white receivers who aren't even in the league that could produce much better numbers.

The Redskins could cut ties with McNabb next offseason for a maximum of $3.75 million. If they opt to keep him for another year, they will end up paying him a maximum of $19.25 million in new money through 2011.

My son and myself tuned in to the game briefly when it was still "manageable" at 21-0 and they started to do their normal worshipping of Haynesworth. They rolled out his "highlight film" of the Blackskins last game, complete with music, that showed a whopping TWO good plays that he made the entire game. It was a good laugh, and made the agenda so patently obvious.

The MSM wants Carson Palmer to retire already, but, in the case of McNabb, they treat him with kid-gloves. And they are so concerned with McNabb's "legacy"...

Shanahan benched a sumo, Hicks, and put in a third white player, Montgomery on O-line in yesterdays game. It will be interesting to see if this stands, as Shanahan may be trying to recreate what he had in Denver, with a mostly white O-line, white tight end and QB, and token white or two on defense.

It's interesting to watch a team being blown out and leaving the starting QB in right to the last down. Why not see what one of your other QB's looks like late in the game? Why continue to watch a guy like McNabb throw short range underneath passes right up until the final gun? I know blacks would be upset if a black QB is pulled, but there have to be limits to what a coaching staff has to watch I think.

From the look on the face of the Redskin head coach, I don't think McNabb will be with the team next.

Now Shanahan has picked Grossman to start over Mcnabb this weekend. With this move, the Redskins actually go to 7 white starters, up from 3 at the start of the year. There are very few white backups on this team, but its still amazing that they are up to 7 starters, the biggest jump of any team this year.

</a>The ongoing soap opera in Washington took another twist on Friday as the Redskins announced that their $40 million quarterback, Donovan McNabb(notes),</span> will be benched for Sunday's game in favor of Rex Grossman(notes).</span>
It was just eight months ago that McNabb was hailed as the team's
savior following a trade from Philadelphia and only 32 days since he
signed that massive contract extension to stay in Washington.

Now,
he's a third-string quarterback, playing behind a guy who's started one
game in the past three seasons and a 29-year old who has thrown one
touchdown pass in his NFL career.

Redskins players are not happy.
"The guys are extremely pissed," one player told NFL.com's Jason La
Canfora. He reports that Redskins players think offensive coordinator
Kyle Shanahan is using McNabb as a scapegoat for his own failures.

It's
a valid point. Shanahan's ego seems out of control. (Head coach Mike or
Kyle, take your pick.) The father-son combination seems intent on
placing the blame for the Redskins' failures on anyone but themselves. Albert Haynesworth(notes),</span> Hunter Smith(notes)</span> -- it's always someone else's fault.

Why
point the finger at yourself when it's easier to point it elsewhere.
Distract everyone by benching McNabb and that will take blame away from
all the coaching, personnel and execution failures that have tripped up
the team this year. (That's the theory, at least.) Even though going
with Grossman will draw Mike and Kyle a ton of heat, the criticism will
be about this decision, not the dozens of other ones that have
backfired. They're using the tried-and-true D.C. trick of getting out in
front of the story and creating their own narrative.

What's going
to be lost in all of this is that McNabb has been a thoroughly mediocre
quarterback this season. His numbers are pedestrian (3,377 yards, 14
touchdowns, 15 interceptions) and he constantly misses easy throws that
can be the difference between wins and losses. The 2010 season has
proved one thing: Andy Reid knew what he was doing when he traded McNabb
within the NFC East.

Still,
anyone who thinks Rex Grossman gives the Redskins a better chance on
Sunday than Donovan McNabb is out of their mind. To that effect,
benching McNabb only makes sense if the Redskins have no intention of
bringing him back for the 2011 season. Yes, the QB signed that huge
extension last month, but it was written with enough out clauses that
the 'Skins could cut him in the offseason and only have to eat $3.75
million as a result. If this hastens that process, then Redskins fans
should be all for it. The team needs to start over. An aging,
injury-prone quarterback isn't the cornerstone for a rebuilding effort.

Shanahan
acknowledges that. He says he told McNabb that he can't guarantee he'll
return to the Redskins in 2011 and that his benching is part of a trial
run for Grossman and John Beck(notes),</span> who goes from third-string to backup.

But
things aren't always what they seem at Redskins Park. The last time the
Shanahan boys benched McNabb, they signed him to that contract
extension before he set foot on the field again. I doubt even they know
where the Washington Redskins go from here.

John Beck has been promoted to second string QB. McNabb is now the Blackskins' third quarterback and will be released after the season as he has a $10 million bonus due in March otherwise. With all the trouble with Albert "The $100 Million Crybaby" Haynesworth and the Blackskins being a bad team again, will be interesting to see what direction Shanahan goes in the offseason as far as the team's demographics go.

Gotta love McNabb's agent whining about the demotion, as if a black player who "handles himself with class" therefore can never be benched no matter how poorly he's playing:

The player rep for Donovan McNabb lashed out at the Redskins Friday, calling the decision to bench the veteran "beyond disrespectful." "Disrespectful is probably not strong enough of a word," the agent said. "Donovan has handled himself with nothing but class, not just in Washington but as an ambassador for the league."

Expect the Redskins' already awful offensive line to mail it in the remainder of the season with Grossman and possibly Beck playing, along with the rest of God's Chosen Athletes on the team.

Just compare this situation to Favre in Minnesota. Favre is a legend, something McNabb will never be. When he arrived in Minny the bruthas weren't too happy that Tavaris Jackson would lose his job even though Favre gave them a much better chance of winning and possibly reaching the Superbowl. McNabb is average and they still are upset about his benching.

Offhand, I can't recall players on a team with a losing record complaining when the QB is benched. It would seem possible if the QB had made the team a winner in the past, but McNabb hasn't even been on the Redskins until this season.

The Blackskins are a mess. Shanahan locked horns with Fat Albert and tried to get the pudgy McNabb into playing shape. Uphill battles all the way. I'm sure his kid was was frustrated. Offensive coordinators have to rip out half the playbook to keep the afflete QBs from shorting out their circuitry.
