Joe Pawelek to Seattle.
Ryan Wolfe to Atlanta.

It's unconscionable that Pawelek didn't get drafted. He was probably the best gameday linebacker in college football.

They're updating that list about every five minutes. So that's the best link to visit.

One white drafted for the Packers. They started off the draft good but quickly back tracked to cover their butts. I can't believe Mariani and Toone were drafted over Blair White and McGaha. Go figure, neither of them attended the combine but were picked ahead of guys who went to Arizona State and Michigan State? Someone mentioned before that the NFL deliberately cuts out the best white players and signs lesser known\skilled white players on purpose. It may have some truth..

Hopefully some of our guys can catch on as UDFA, if they want to play in this league they'll have to be persistent as hell and go through a lot of highs and lows.

You mentioned before how you met some NFL players, and that they weren't "larger than life" - they weren't giants. You said that you were next to a Center that was short and had a fat stomach, something like that?

Do you have more stories?

I saw Hines Ward at a baseball card show. He was average sized, and he's regarded as maybe the toughest wide receiver in the NFL.

Saw a bunch of black Steelers once at a club. Very unimposing physically, other than the 400 pound blubberball Casey Hampton. RB Duce Staley was short and chubby, the d-backs were short and scrawny. Certainly didn't look like the "world's best athletes" to me. Or does that honor go to black NBA players?

I agree with that, I mean, how are guys like Lance Long in the league? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's there, but how does he get a roster spot when guys like Pat Simonds probably won't? The NFL is delibretly keeping some of our best guys out of the league.

I sure hope Toby can succeed and open some doors and, more importantly, some minds.

I usually buy all the draft mags well before the draft and go over them. I didn't bother this year. I guess I had an inkling.

I've already bailed on MLB baseball and the NBA. I can bail on the NFL too.

Yeah it's definitely fishy. I can't remember who first mentioned it, b\c i would like to give them the credit for noticing that!

Also the Falcons had a GREAT draft! I just saw they picked up Shann Schilinger who I think very highly of. I saw him in the Semifinal game agaisnt App St. and man was he flying around.

I've noticed for a long time that some of the most athletic specimens, especially tall and rangy wide receivers with great hands, get screwed over the most. One of the NFL's many unwritten rules is that there are to be no white all pros at WR and RB. Welker broke through, but it was only by overcoming a lot of adversity, and just about no one knew somone that size could be that good.

Blair White not being drafted was perhaps the biggest outrage in a draft filled with them. And I don't like him signing with the Colts because they already have 3 white receivers (and Dallas Clark) to go along with Reggie Wayne and Garcon. Looks like White is doomed to follow the John Standeford/Mike Hass path of years on the far fringes of the league with no opportunities to shine.

The Colts are almost always coal black on defense. I wonder what the means for Pat Angerer. Their draft was disappointing with only 2 out of 8 players being white.

The Colts started Rob Morris at LB for a number of years so Angerer should get an opportunity, especially being drafted as high as he was.

Here is a great article (written by a black guy I believe) about Gerhart and the racism he faces as a white running back.
It also calls him the 21st century Jim Brown!
Also a Great! highlight video.

jack, that link is giving me a "cannot be found" message, at least now. Don't know if it's giving that message to others as I have 5 pages to go in reading this thread (at this typing).

Some old caste whore on Sirius, Gill Brandt,

Brandt was the Girls' "director of scouting" from day 1 in 1960 until JJ axed him about 5 minutes after canning Tex Schramm, which in turn was about 5 minutes after axing the man in the fedora. I know Brandt early on signed Don Perkins out of NM State (before the Dallas franchise was even granted) and later on converted Bob Hayes and Cornell Green from track and hoops, respectively, to football, but other than that, was Gil always so caste?

It was almost incomprehensible to watch the never ending parade of black DBs, LBs and sumo offensive and defensive linemen. Not to mention all those underachieving, underwhelming WRs, who will ensure that the league continues to be filled with marvelous affletes with hands of stone, bodies full of jiggling flubber and gay, diva attitudes.

Is there no doubt what race that gay Transvester, er, Transformer is who dances around during the "brought to you by"s on Fox's NFL telecast(e)s? I'm surprised his hips aren't as wide as the rest of him (they're so narrow he has to be transsexual iykwim!).

Broncos 5/7 draft picks were white. They signed 5 white UFAs.

Cowboys 3/6 draft picks were white. They signed a white QB, center, and fullback UFA.

Were any black quarterbacks drafted? I didn't get to watch today. If not that's a victory.

Jets god rid of Alan Faneca and Leon Washington. It sucks for Alan but the the Washington trade may benefit Woodhead.

<a href="http://www.northjersey.com/sports/042510_Jets_look_younger_without_Alan_Faneca_and_Leon_Washington.html" target="_blank">On
the third and final day of the draft, they jettisoned two Pro Bowl
veterans in a busy day of transactions. Left guard Alan Faneca, who has
made the Pro Bowl the last nine seasons, including two with the Jets,
was released. Running back Leon Washington, who made the Pro Bowl as a
kick returner in 2008, was traded along with a seventh-round pick to
Seattle for a fifth-round selection.</a>

When an unheard of player from an unheard of school signs a free agent contract with an NFL team, that must mean that he was on somebody's radar before the draft.
Jordyn Jackson is a former star runningback from the state of Washington who ended up at Eastern Oregon after a stopover at Western Washington. He was a multi-spot player at EO. 5'10", sub-4.5 speed. Signed FA contract with the Chargers.
Here's some video footage of him. link
I'm thinking that he has a fan somewhere on San Diego's coaching staff. I'll be watching his status as the year rolls on. Hope he sticks.

Honestly, yesterday was the first time I ever heard ofthe guy so I have no idea. They were calling him "The Godfather" so I figured he was someone with credentials.

Biggest suprise of the day: After all is said and done, the Eagles bring 4 white WRs into training camp! Curtis must of made an impression on ol' Porky Reid.

Anybody think Jake Sharpe has a prayer getting signed?

Speaking of meeting Pros, I met Stewart Bradley in a Center City Philly parking lot 2 years ago, HUGE, cut, tall...if the most DWphillyF met him they would have to say he looks like an athlete!!

And for my last non-sequential rambling, I meant to add this a couple days ago. Sorry if someone already did:http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcsouth/post/_/id/9116/carolina-panthers-turn-down-dan-connor-trade-trade-talk
