thanks for the link, charlie. sadly, you were correct about it only being viewable in the UK.

excellent spot, spectator. and that is a very simple, yet poignant question ...

FYI, Versus Network on Dish, probably on Direct Tv and cable too, shows 2 hours coverage from Berlin everynight. They show most heats.

Ok so the 200 semis are tomorrow. Heat #1 contains Robert Hering, and Heat #2 has Ramil Guliyev and Paul Hession.

Hering may have a spot in the finals if he can replicate another 20.41. He cannot beat Bolt, Crawford, or Alonso Edward, but he may beat out Brendan Christian for that 4th spot (top 4 qualify). It will be close.

Guliyev may lose to Spearmon and Steve Mullings in this heat, but nobody else is close to him. Hession should qualify 4th.

There may be 3 whites, most likely 2 whites, in the 200 final. Pretty darn good. I still am shaken after Lemaitre's DQ, because he would have made the 100 final. It would be great if Guliyev breaks 20, and even medals!

In the 400, I see Wariner and Gillick at least making the finals. We may have one more guy in the final between Borlee, Rooney, and Tobin. We shall see.Edited by: StarWars

I am hoping Ireland gets a 200 and a 400 guy in the finals. What a feat that would be! I want Hession to get 20.2ish and Gillick to go mid 44s and medal or at least do well.

I agree with you StarWars on everything you said. I'm rooting for your avatar(Hession) in the 200. He is a long shot but I wouldn't count him out. We both know JayConn got screwed. I want Guliyev to p.b. but the odds are probably not in his favor after running muliple rounds in consecutive days. I hope I'm wrong. I do see him making the final at the very least. Even that would be a great springboard for his young career and help him to get invited some bigger meets where the money will be better. Hopefully he can pick up some sponsors as well. Herring has a shot but he is in a very tough heat. He will have to p.b. tommorow.

I feel confident that two of our guys can medal in the 400. I hope it plays out that way. Wariner needs to get the gold. Either Gillick, Borlee or Tobin could grab the silver or bronze.

What a joke about Stewart. They even protect the sprinters from Jamaica when they go into other lanes. We can't not let them have a medal can we? They probably figured a riot would break out as rowdy as their fans are. She should have been disqualified 100%. Poor JayConn. Maybe if he were from the island, he would still be running.

I just looked up the results of the decathlon 100 just run and was surprised to see a white american as easily the fastest time. Trey Hardee.
His bio shows he's a top athlete at lots of events, but a 10.45 in the same conditions the 100s guys had shows him beating Unger and perhaps making the 2nd round.
Can't wait to see his other results.
Who knows? this 25 year old might well be the fastest white American if he only trained to sprint.

Hardee is a stud and the most gifted athlete in the decathlon. He has had injury problems which has kept him from becoming a household name. If he can put it all together in one meet, he can break the world record, he's that good.

If Hardee was in the NFL he would be considered a "heady player" as opposed to an "afflete" like TO

Are you for real?Anyone who knows anything about trackknows you're allowed to accidently step out of your lane in the 100 as long as you don't impede another runner's path. Fraser was already past her.

You can't cross the lane in the 200 curve because you'll gain a competitive advantage by shortening your race. Did being black and/or from the islands save Churandy Martina and Wallace Spearmon from getting DQ'd from the Olympic 200?

Good call. No way Connaughton would've beat Hering, Hession, or Guliyev to make the finals so I don't care that much, just feel bad for him.

He's the next Tom Pappas. Definitely has a chance at Sebrle's record, although it's a long shot.

When you go completely out of your lane, you can get a dq. I've seen it happen. It has nothing to do with her color obviously. She almost fell down she was going sideways so much. She is lucky she went into the left lane and not the right or it would have been a sure disqualification.

Congrats to Wariner and Gillick. They should both finish in the medals barrring something weird happening. I predict Wariner will win the gold.

Ireland could have three athletes in the sprint finals..men's 200m/400m and women's 110 hurdles. I'm impressed!

When you figure there are no Russians/Germans/Chinese/Nigerians/etc in those sprint finals it's even more impressive.

Is she really a HE? Women's 800m gold medal favourite takes gender test hours before World Championship race

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1207653/Is-Doubts-raised-sex-womens-800m-gold-medal-favourite-hours-Berlin-World-Championship-race.html

The gold medal favourite in tonight's women's 800m World Athletics Championships race is today facing claims that she is really a man.

South African Caster Semenya, 18, is set to race in tonight's final in Berlin after sailing through a semi-final on Monday in her first major international sporting competition.
She will run at 8.35pm UK time.

But the teenage sensation has sparked controversy over her strikingly muscular physique.

Herring finished in 5th place in a time of 20.52! He missed the finals by one postion. I'm still proud of him. A great showing by a 19 year old. The future will be bright for Robert.

Ramil Guliyev did it. He ran a 20.28 to finish 4th. From 2nd to 4th was separated by an eyelash. I'm very proud of him to keep his composure and form through the rounds. For a teenager, he shows alot of confidence. He is mature for his age in how he composed himself. The final is loaded tommorow. Guliyev just needs to go for it. No matter what happens, he has represented his country well. I'm hoping for a p.b. if he has any strength left. A medal would be incredible.

Hession fell short but to be fair he was stuck in lane 8. It's rare that someone in the extreme inside or outside lanes do well. You can't tell where everyone is at. It's just very tough to deal with. He still ran descent. It must be hard for him to come this close to a final two times in a row.

If only Herring could have made it. We would have had two teenagers in it. So close.

Come on Ramil. You can do it. One more race!
