Can we get a sub 10 in the 100 please!

With the success of Wariner and Rock more white kids will maybe at least give themselves the benefit of the doubt that that they can compete in sprinting. I'm sure that most every white kid that sprints in Texas is well aware of Wariner and the success of Ryan Varner and his team might just...

    110 meter hurdles

Liu Xiang blistered a 13.06 at the Prefontaine. Trammell was second at 13.12. Allen Johnson was DQ'd on a false start.

Travis Diener works out for Jazz

Hornacek was one of my favorites too whitelightning. When Reggie Miller announced that it would be his last year Barkley said that Miller, Steve Kerr and Hornacek were the three best shooters he'd seen in his playing days. Hornacek made some of the craziest circus shots I've ever seen.

    Andrew Rock

Rock got third at the Prefontaine in 45.58. Michael Blackwood of Jamaica won in 45.48 and LaShawn Merritt was second in 45.57. Does anyone know what the conditions were there? Times seem a little sluggish.

There have been fast white sprinters.....

Again, I agree that blacks might possess an advantage and the influx of blacks would disadvantage white sprinters on the whole(the so-so white sprinter) but that doesn't explain the disappearance of great white sprinters. You seem to be implying that fellows like Sime and Morrow weren't...

There have been fast white sprinters.....

What you say is all true but these black sprinters you cite were being beaten at least sometimes by white sprinters. I never said the black sprinter came from nowhere, my question is why the white sprinter went to nowhere.

There have been fast white sprinters.....

Sorry about the Robinson goof but that underscores my point all the more. You are right about the emergence of black sprinters in the 30's but black sprinting dominance does not begin until the '60's. Why is it that blacks only pull away from white sprinters on a time basis beginning in the...

There have been fast white sprinters.....

"a physique tailor made for sprinting" Just what would that physique entail? You could compare for us less observant types, say Frankie Fredericks with Justin Gatlin or Carl Lewis with Leroy Buurell. From your other posts one can infer that you believe white sprinters probably can't get...

Vermeil is bringing in Freddie Mitchell for a workout! Anything to keep Boerigter and Horn on the bench.

    Joe Namath vs. Johnny Unitas

Riggins still holds the 100 and 220 records for his high school, Centralia, KS. 9.8 for the 100 and 21.7 for the 220. He also won two state 100 titles.Edited by: surfsider

    Conference Championships

Dirk Homewood ran a great 45.34 for third place at the Midwest Regional today.

    Dusty Stamer

Stamer took third in 10.38 behind teammate Oliver Williams and DaBryan Blanton who won in 10.21 at the Midwest Regional in Norman.

Nebraska won the 4 x 100 relay in 39.19 tying the Midwest Regional record.

Poor Crouch probably overextended his "inflexible" hip.

    Andrew Rock

I see that Rock is on the start list for the Prefontaine Classic on June 4. That will be a deep meet talent-wise. Anyone know Wariner's next meet?

    Craig Pickering

Good find whitelightning! I guess you probably know this but he runs for the Milton Keynes Athletic Club and can be kept track of through them. This is off topic but I just have to say it was great seeing Wariner and Rock perform so well yesterday.

    Conference Championships

My thoughts exactly JD074 & whitelightning. I thought he looked so much better in the relay where Nebraska with three whites crushed the field. It was a replay of lst years Big 12 championships where he was great in the relay and an also ran in the open 100.

If you get fox sports look for the Pac-10 and Big-12 track meets. I just watched the Pac-10 meet and the Big-12 is just starting. (4p.m. central) They usually show them several times.

    2005 NBA Playoffs

Walton is a fool. The only commentator I've heard praise Nash's athletic ability was Steve Jones on the broadcast last night. Right after his comment, Walton followed up with the brillant assessment that Nash could jump over two pieces of paper. Jones countered by saying that Earl Monroe...

    The Average White Fan

The academic, ethical and moral erosion continues speedster and your post is a good example of how it works. An exception here an excepton there and soon one program is just like another. Selling out for "revenue", shoe deals for coaches blah blah blah. What gets me about Gonzaga and other...

Exactly right Bart. If Iverson gets a bunch of points in the paint that is expected because he is soooo athletic. It's another thing entirely when a stiff-hipped type does it.

    Weight Gain

The senior citizen angle has to do with the muscle they have lost. Elders respond quickly and gain quickly but that is only the body trying to get back what was there and has been lost. Many of the old folk that go to the gym have never exercised before. A 70 year old lady that can't do a 2...

    MVP Award

Nash had a triple-double with more than three minutes left in the third quarter of last nights game! I certainly can't add anything to support Nash as MVP that hasn't already been pointed out by so many on the site but it is just maddeningly outrageous the crap that some of these columnists are...
