    My take on this site

Great give and take fellows. Here is a personal anecdote that I think sheds a little( maybe very little) light on the RB question. In August of '73 me and about 150 other guys showed at Eisenhower Junior High School in Lawton, OK for 7th grade football practice. The racial breakdown was...

    2005 NBA Playoffs

Reminiscent of Rodman's remarks regarding Larry Bird don't you think?

    Jeremy Wariner

Apparently, Wariner felt some tightness in warm-ups and decided to withdraw from the 300 in Lille. Disappointing but he can't risk injury with the World Championships coming up.

    Troy Bergeron

Bergeron was named the arena league's Rookie of the Year. At 21 he is the youngest player in the AFL. I heard an announcer say that he nevcer played a down in college.

    2005 NCAA Nat’l Championships

Jesse Williams of USC won the high jump with 7'6". I saw his USC bio and it had him listed at 6' and 155 lbs. A white-American Stefan Holm?

    Decline in music

Guess I'll chime in. I enjoy anything from any genre that is good. That said though, what I spend( spent, I haven't shelled out any cash for an album oops, I mean tape oops again I mean CD in quite awhile) would be classed in a subset of rock. Top 10 bands for me would be(and in no particular...

    Jaxson Appel

I saw maybe one A&M game last year and he really stood out. Seems there wasn't a play he wasn't involved in.

    2005 NBA Playoffs

Loving the Spurs and Ginobili! My memories of him as a player are a little fuzzy but might Manu remind anyone else of a taller, better Paul Westphal?

What is this supposed to mean?

Don I was just getting ready to say almost the exact same thing. We've had to put with vermeilspeak here in KC for too long. As soon as he starts to say something that might be construed as praise about a white player--watch out, that poor schmuck's playing days are probably numbered.

Blacks and Sports -- Lifeline or Noose?

If one finds one's self unable to gain admittance to a system of education that offers claptrap such as a doctorate in "leadership" then maybe another path in life should be considered. Harry Edwards is one of the cadre of blacks that make handsome livings reporting on the injustices that...

    2005 NCAA Nat’l Championships

Trey Hardee, Donovan Kilmartin and Andrew Levin are doing well in the decathalon. Like you WL, I thought it weird to see a false start in the 400.

    Jeremy Wariner

Wariner is set to a run a 300 on Sunday in Lille, France. For post-race comparison purposes, Michael Johnson has the best 300 meter time at 30.85.

    Kyle Turley

I've always thought Turley a bit of a wahoo but certainly not a brutish thug. The guy throws his helmet(up, not at someone) in the heat of the moment and HE'S the pariah of the league. Yeesh! It galls me to no end that whenever a brother gets into a "situation", a huge support party breaks...

    400m hurdles

The winner of the silver in '76 behind Moses was Mike Shine a white sprinter from, I believe, Penn State. Harald Schmid of Germany ran in Moses's shadow his entire career and was the last man to defeat Moses before the streak started in '77.

    2005 NCAA Nat’l Championships

Steve Mullings the SEC 100 champ has been suspended by the Jamaican amateur athletic association for having a little too much testosterone in his system. He has subsequently withdrawn from the NCAA's. Too bad.

Not all 40 times are created equal..

It is arguable but I think CB in the NFL is the weakest most poorly played position both in terms of coverage and tackling. SteveB's example of Mickey Washington helps to explain why in that NFL coaches today have an almost slavish devotion to 40 times as opposed to a more well-rounded...

There have been fast white sprinters.....

This isn't exactly on thread topic but I didn't think it rated its own thread. Utah is dropping track and cross-country--for men. The womens teams are intact. The men of Utah are getting title IX'd to death. There are 18 sports programs--7 for the men and 11 for the gals. The chance( slim...

    High School Junior David Klech

    High School Junior David Klech

Mr. Klech had a decent California state meet. He won the 300 intermediate hurdles in 36.06! Was runner-up in the 110 hurdles at 13.98 and took third in the long jump at 22' 5.75" into gusty winds. He scored 24 points for his team which placed 5th with, you guessed it, 24 points. Maybe next...
