I don't know if anybody posted about this, but Patrick Dever from Britain won the 10,000m (also broke a record) and Conner Mantz came second.

I heard the commentator (in the 200) mention Fahnbulleh's average stride as being 2.90m versus 2.69m of Bolt. An 8" longer stride.

Borzov ran wind legal 10.07 and 20.00 times back on tracks that were far slower than todays surfaces. Not to mention the advances in shoes/cleats, strength training, dieticians, etc. Guys
today would be alot slower if they had the same conditions that both Borzov, Wells and other past sprinters had to deal with.

So chipsnsalsa left the board and missed great moments by Ramil Guliyev, Adam Gemeli, Richard Kilty, Jan Volko, Emilie Erasmus, Filippo Tortu, John Teeters, Devin Quinn just to name a few off the top of my head. I hate
negative nancy type people in life and on message boards. The negative attitude puts everyone in a bad mood. Not gonna continue to debate but we are positive here. We have more and more of our
sprinters and athletes in general about to make major break throughs. The glass is half full despite your view of it.

Yes that is like a moon stride. Amazing to cover that much ground that you would make up ground on even Bolt it his turnover was good too. Fahnbulleh has a very bright future. The only think that may
stop him is the dinner table. Lmao. He is built for the 200 meters without a doubt.

about to make major break throughs.

Always "about to", for the last 25 years (ie as long as I can remember). Yeah Kilty and Guliyev did OK, but the 100m in major championships is where it's at. That is the blue riband event that everyone watches. And after all this time there's never been one of our guys even come close.

I thought Boling might just be the guy. Watching him come 6th in a college meet is a tough realitypill to swallow.

Fahnbulleh is a beast.
I watched the semi-finals and this guy had the best closing speed. I thought he might win.
Unfortunately he is a freshman, so Boling is going to have to go up against in his conference for the next 3 years.

You have to give Boling credit for going to an SEC school. He put himself in the most competitive conference for sprinters.
But hopefully, it just makes him better.

Yeah he has an astonishing style, like he has springs on his shoes. His top-level speed reminds me of Lemaitre 10 years ago. His start is comically bad. If he gets some serious training and strict diet he could be seriously fast. With that basic speed, the only thing holding you back is yourself, which is unfortunately what happened to Lemaitre.

I wouldn't give up on Boling yet.
He had a lot of hype - which was deserved - but at the same time, it was always a stretch that he (or anyone) was going to come out of high school and immediately dominate at the college level and make the Olympics.
I'm a realist, and I still believe his best is yet to come.

Ok to say no one did anything again is not true. Fillipo Tortu was in the 100 Meters Finals at the 2019 World Championships. He finished in 7th place running a 10.07 so Tortu was one
of the 8 fastest guys in the world just two years ago. Tortu will continue to improve. Just watch and enjoy the ride. Here is the video. The winner Christian Coleman already on a ped ban for 3 missed
tests. You have to realise that many of this guys are not running clean. I still enjoy the sport regardless even though I wish they could catch more of the cheaters.

Here's the NCAA 200m final.
It's obvious to me that Boling was spent. He had nothing left for the final straight.
But that's something that can be corrected with training.

Tortu ran his PB 3 years ago aged 20. You say he will continue to improve but he hasn't gone faster in 3 years. And that's not what we saw with Shirvo, Lemaitre and Pickering.

A hundred guys can run 10.07 on a good day. I was looking for someone to blow away the field, run 9.8 or lower, and win championships. I thought we had this when lemaitre ran 9.92 aged 21, but that didn't work out. Again with boling's incredible career up till 6 months ago, but now he's well off the pace. Boling is 21 too - will he improve when the others couldn't?

I'd like to say yes, but I fear that would be the triumph of hope over experience.

He's 21, not some skinny high-schooler. And he is already well-built and clearly well trained. Unlike say Fahnbulleh, who has a terrible start which can be massively improved, I don't see where huge improvements are going to come from for Boling.

Henrik Larsson will be running on June 13th. Hope he can throw down a little better time to start slowly getting back on track.

Also as jacknyc said Filippo Tortu will run tommorow. Let's see what he can do. Hope the conditions are good and he goes sub 10.10 at minimum.

Ok you clearly are here to argue. Your walking a fine line. Be careful as we do not want people coming here to cut down all of our guys we root for. No room for that here as every other message board is anti white. This is the
one place we can be positive talking about the sports we love. To say Boling will not get faster is the dumbest thing I've heard all year. You are bordering on being a troll and you will be banned if you continue to talk down about
these guys. You have no idea how hard they train and what they go through. Boling will go sub 10 and sub 20 by next year 100%. You can hold me to that statement if your still around.

I will admit I'm much more of a novice at analyzing track and field athletes than some of the other members here but I have to disagree. He set a PB in the 200 this year and ran a windy 9.97. He's a sophomore and has 2 years of college track left, possibly more if he runs as a professional. In my humble opinion, there's no way to know yet if or how much he will improve.

Agreed WL. How anyone can say a guy isn't going to get faster who set a PB in the 200 and ran a windy 9.97 as a college sophomore. Almost as ridiculous as the guy who was here saying Boling has african genes because of his curly hair.

Jakob Ingebrigsten won the 5000m in Florence in an incredible time of 12:48.45!!

I don't follow the longer distances too much, but I know anything around low 13 minutes is fantastic.
It turns out that this is a European record!
This kid is an incredible, amazing talent!!!

It was incredible to watch. So for all of you who haven't seen the race. Here you go! :)

ok ... watching all the to and froing here........ there may not ever be another white 100 metre champion (I'm not a prophet). It remains a sport dominated by very fast black guys and there are many, many more of them competing in this event so it seems. There are thousands of them all over the world who hope sprinting may their chance for a lifelong meal ticket.
Most fast white guys I have followed are studying something for a career choice and won't ever put their all into becoming a professional 100/200m sprinter - I think we are culturally different this way. Guliyev did that and it worked out for him but I'm not certain many have that mindset.
But I'm here, have been 15/16 years, to bone up on future and present white track talents and have had many reasons to be satisfied - Kilty's world 60m title, Guliyev's World 200 title, Lemaitre's bronzes for 200m in both the Olympics and the Worlds...... plus the sub 10s that have come and are always just around the corner giving hope for next season.
We may well see more and more Asian sprinters making sub 10 common place and this makes for huge interest. We saw a Chinese world 100mH WR holder, both China and Japan have/had some great 4x100 teams....... and I'm not anti-anyone in sprinting so I don't see it as a slap in the face if black sprinters continue to dominate as long as good white kids aren't led away from the sport because their skin colour persuades others, others who often have incentives to recruit stereotypically for the best chance of success, to push them into other events.

I'm expecting weird results in Tokyo in all track events, so many athletes won't be as race sharp as they should be. The Diamond League schedule has been shortened this season and was shortened last season too. So that's two years running where runners have had spotty racing schedules and that has to affect racing abilities of various athletes.

Then you have a possible John Rahm situation and that could force a withdrawal of a clear favorite even hours before a final or gold medal match. Tokyo could be talked about similary to Mexico City with weird results because of the altitude and protests.

Yes his better event and his legs looked gone in the final 100 where he normally is the one storming home.
