The injury report this morning says Reddick is out, Washington practiced all week but is questionable, Z2K is healthy, and no mention of Justin Forsett. It's looking good for Zenner.

And, the Redskins have a horrible run defense.
 
Last week Zenner only had a few carries for a couple of yards and one pass catch that he was close to breaking but got taken down in the open field. It was interesting he played at all because Washington had been cleared to play. But was inactive. Perhaps they were giving Washington another weeks rest, he was ahead of Zenner on the depth chart previously. Everyone is healthy now, Riddick, Washington, and they have added Forsett. This week will give us a better idea of the pecking order.

Not going to mince my words I'll be rooting for some of the other backs to get banged up again if that's what it takes for Z2K to get an opportunity.

Not to worry, someone is going to get hurt. Hopefully Zenner can take advantage (and gets a chance) when it happens. That is why the depth chart is so important.
 
Zenner needs to pick it up a bit more in his limited opportunities or any chance at having any type of NFL career will evaporate. He can't keep counting on a barage of injuries to other running backs to get playing time. He needs to get everyone's attention with his playing ability. The zenner from preseason last year needs to show up. He was very good against a tough Rams defense. Mediocre against Washington and not that good in limited opportunities in other games.
 
The Lions oline blocking is so bad it may be for the best that Zenner is not in there. Hopefully he can stick around long enough to get a shot if one of the two guys ahead of him get hurt.
 
Glad some comments were made here...some pathetic stats for Washington....13 carries for 6 yards ?? Rotoworld said "Washington did not help himself with his upright and frenetic running style, but there was not anywhere for him to run most of the game. That will likely be the case again Thursday against the Vikings".

True the O-Line has been sub-par(sounds like 1/2 the NFL)....Still it would be nice to see Zenner showcase his skills with the early Thanksgiving national spot-light....he did manage 58 yards rushing on 14 carries vs the Raiders....Frustrating!
 
Oh for God's sake, just when Zenner gets an opening with Theo Riddick hurting and Dwayne Washington getting an ankle injury and Justin Forsett released, the Lions go and sign another old retread, Joique Bell. Bell, if he is able to play will take snaps from Zenner as Zach is used as the inside and short yardage guy. In the two games that Zenner has gotten decent amounts of carries he has led the team in yards. Reports said the Lions would NOT sign Bell as he cannot contribute on special teams, a must for 4th string RB's. But true to form, an NFL team HAS to sign some old retread lest they be dependent on a white guy to tote the rock.
 
I hope he torches the SeaHags this Saturday! Go ZZ!
 
Bennett (both of them) have the gift of spewing whatever they want due to black privilege, dwf adoration and a free pass from the media. If he really gave two shits about white RBs he would be asking why there aren't more of them. He just took advantage of his privilege to bring up Zenner's race because he knows he is protected and won't face any sort of repercussion.

Let's hope Zach has a big game vs Plantation Pete and his loud moufed affletes this weekend!

It was tongue in cheek to me . I hope Z2 takes it as such and taps into the speed force vs sewerhawks. It would help make the league notice if he ran all over Pete's Planation.
 
During the Packers-Lions game, "Weird Al" Michaels was so dumbfounded by the fact that both teams were employing a white running back and that both were flourishing (they scored 3 TDs between them in the 1st half), that he quipped: "If you would have told me at the begging of the year that we'd be talking about Zach Zenner and Aaron Ripkowski as feature backs in Week #17, I wouldn't have believed you." The elderly, Casteon Jew then reminded the viewers as to why the white RB's were playing by uttering something like: "That's what happens in the NFL after a rash of injuries."



With Zenner, Burkhead, Woodhead, and presumably McCaffrey (along with heavily-used FB's such as Ripwoski, Juszczyk, Kuhn and Janovich), next year should be much improved over previous seasons in terms of white RBs/FBs touching the ball.
 
Woodhead was on the verge of having a nice season.....89 yards/16 carries in season opener vs Chiefs & 3 carries for 27 yds in 1st qtr. vs. Jaguars before injury; at age 32 wonder how he's healing up & how many more seasons he will play raising a young family?

Burkhead's 119 yard performance should be an nice audition for a NFL Team needing a RB...frustrating the Bengals want to re-sign him...WHY? To waste away AGAIN waiting for an injury? He will be 27 next season..in his prime to produce ; shelf life for RB's is too short

Today on NFL Live...Seahawks D-End Michael Bennett just called Zach Zenner the "Best White Running Back; any body that can rush for 2,000 yards in college is impressive at any level" then Bennett said "he couldn't rush for that 2,000 in a PE class" (something to that effect) ... Announcer Trey Wingo said "the sample size of white RB's is small...so do Fullbacks count like Ripowksi & Kuhn ?"....Bennett said "Yes".....he thinks they're "are like 13 in the NFL" ...Wingo said "i'll take your word for it"..there was a little more to interview ....it was light hearted

It would have been nice to go into that subject more...but we know it takes a black athlete to bring it up so it's not racist /or at risk of losing your job....
 
You can bet just about every black player in the NFL is aware of what Zenner and Burkhead (and even Ripkowski) have done of late. Doesn't mean that they're all opposed to the league having White RBs, only that they, having been absorbed in racial awareness from their earliest breaths, keep close tabs on what is going on in the league. Probably many blacks don't mind a few token Whites here and there at the now-many "taboo" positions, but if too many start popping up they'll start griping like some NBA players did a decade or so ago when a lot of European players were being drafted for a couple of years, following which the percentage being drafted "coincidentally" went down the next year and has stayed down since.

Not that black athletes drive the Caste System; they don't at all, only that they're used to its benefits and won't quietly step aside if they see too much of a reversal taking place. And the "White" plantation owners are only too happy to use their concerns to keep the status quo in place. The Caste System in the NFL is nothing if not consistent; there's only tiny deviations permitted on a yearly basis from the long-established racial black quarterbacks for each position.

Wingo is a caste dweeb of course he won't question it.
 
Zenner has to take it as a compliment and Bennett knows it. Bennett can get away with being racist because if Zenner complains about the fact that he didn't get picked up by a major college due to being white, went undrafted due to being white and is sitting so long not being used in Detroit due to being white. He would be labeled a problem and quickly be discarded. I mean if you recall Hillis never got a shot in Clevland until a prior black RB that was working in a grocery shop turned them down leaving them no one but Hillis......

Unless Zenner stuns the world against Seattle...........his best chance of getting playing time next season is elsewhere. Because Detroit will have Abdullah back and other healthy bodies to shove in front of Zenner on the depth chart next season.
 
Anyone who called Russell Wilson the "best black quarterback" would immediately be crucified as a horrible racist, yet the "best white running back" is not considered racist at all. Would Wilson take that as a compliment? Has Bennett even thought about something like that? We here know what the answer (it's the same for both questions) is.

Lions OC Jim Bob Cooter said he is open to the idea of continuing to use Zach Zenner as an every-down back.
The Lions' use of Zenner as an every-snap player avoids substitutions and allows them to play faster, something they've tried doing in consecutive games. Zenner played all but two snaps in Sunday night's loss to Green Bay, handling 24 touches. "Zenner’s in phenomenal shape," Cooter said. "As the game wore on, kind of felt like he could keep going and felt like it made sense for us to do that. ... He held up well I thought, so who knows what could happen in the future. I’ll keep it open-ended."
 
Lions GM Bob Quinn, who was hired from the Patriots organization did an interview on Sirius sports radio. He had some interesting things to say about Zenner. He mentioned that the Patriots had their eye on him which is good going forward for when the Lions draft some affalete to replace him.

From the interview:
Quinn is a big Zach Zenner fan. He said the Lions running back caught the attention of the New England Patriots staff last preseason, when he led the NFL in rushing. Since becoming the general manager and getting to see Zenner up close, Quinn has been been impressed by the player’s work ethic, toughness and instincts.

Still, Quinn will be looking to improve the position this offseason.

“We’ll definitely try to get better at the running back position, and all the other positions,” Quinn said. “As everyone knows, that’s a position where you need quality depth because the durability with those guys sometimes doesn’t last through the whole season.”
 
"Quinn has been been impressed by the player’s work ethic, toughness and instincts." no mention of his speed, athleticism(a word I hate) ability to cut outside, catch passes etc....then he goes on to say they need to get better at that position and all other positions....typical left handed compliment
