That was not my impression at all. Especially when Fowler decided to butt in and demand agreement that Goodwin was faster (again, not true).
Perhaps someone else can watch the rebroadcast later tonight and cast the tie-breaker.

ESPN's official recruiting page for Swope also calls him a tough-running fullback. So pardon me if I'm less likely to give any of them the benefit of the doubt.

Great game by Rex Burkhead, who ended up with 100 yards and a TD on just 18 carries.

Toby Gerhart and Luke Lippincott with 1000 yard seasons is great, but I'm also holding out hope that Joe Martinek can get there, too.

It's going to take a huge game in the finale against WVU for him to do it, but I'm not sure the team will give him enough carries no matter what happens.

Anyway, let's cheer him on!

Luke Lippincott hasn't received a carry in the entire first half. Nevada has been getting pounded by Boise State. Vau Tau has carried the ball 16 times. When Luke has been on the field it's been in a semi-fullback role. He's started on the last drive, but just to block. He did leave the field for one play so they could throw a screen to Tau on which he promptly slipped behind the line of scrimmage. Luke is coming off a week where he rushed for 162 yards and two scores as well as eclipsing the 1,000 yard mark. Hard to fathom.

At least he eclipsed 1000 yards last week and that is the 2nd time in 3 years he has done this. He was hurt and missed all of last year so in a sense, it is his second year in a row to break 1000 yards! Maybe they will turn Luke loose in the 2nd half. I sure hope so. I want to see him get an NFL Combine Invite!

Nice picture Highlander, and welcome to Caste Football. Here's another one of Rex from today's game.

I do hope Luke gets some carries tonight, but it doesn't look good as he only has a couple of kick returns so far.

Rex looks like the real deal. It was disappointing to see Brandon Wegher really struggle in some of the games from mid-season on- and to have two of his best runs called back on BS holding calls (a 70 yarder and a 19 yarder). Without those runs called back, Wegher would be at 4.2 YPC and have had a solid season for a true freshman- instead of somewhat of a let down one. I'm glad Burkhead looks to be really impressing. The guy consistently raises eyebrows each time he gets on the field and has made up for my worries on the future of Wegher. Go Rex! Beat Texas- who only wanted you as a safety!

Kaepernick is awful.
And Taua might have cost Nevada the game with that fumble. I don't blame him, though. I blame the coach who chooses to stick a RB in a cast on the field instead of a healthy 1,000yd rusher that you have sitting on the bench.
And I'm pretty sure Mike Ball runs a 6.2 40. Slowest kick returner I've ever seen.

John Goebel was the leading rusher for Cincy today!

I am a huge Nebraska fan, and it looks like the program is going in the right direction. Burkhead looks to be a feature back for the Huskers for a couple of years, now. I think a lot of Nebraska fans like Burkhead as well. I am really excited about Rex, and so is the Nebraska coaching staff.

Also, it was nice to see Goebel getting carries again.

Sorry Riddlewire, that honor would go to fat fullback Carey Davis of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Link He returned kicks last year, one of Mike Tomlin's genius moves.

Hey, it's something.

Yep, it is something. I didn't even bother checking the Bearcats' stats, figuring John wouldn't get any carries once again. Glad he got a few scraps.

I don't understand Nevada's coach giving only one carry to Lippincott, when Tua could have used breathers and Lippincott was coming off two dominant performances. I'm so glad caste whore Nevada lost!

I told you guys Kelly wasn't going to screw Goebel- he's more fair than a typical FBS coach. Expect Goebel to play Jacob Ramsey's role and get around almost half of Cincinatti's RB carries next year backing up Pead!

It was a good week overall in the FBS!

I've been lurking forever and a day, but watching Gerhart's Performance last night inspired me to finally register. Listening to the announcers talk up his entire athletic family was fun, too. What a family! Smart, successful, athletic, and many children. Those parents have done a service for the whole country.

Hopefully he will be getting his fair share of carries in the NFL and makes the most of the opportunity.

I agree with you, Pie, and welcome to Caste Football! There are tons of great white runners who never get the opportunity to show their talents, but Toby Gerhart proves our point that if given an opportunity, whites can be the best!

It still makes me sick to my stomach that Luke got to run the ball only once in the last game of the year. The kid has over 1000 yards and they just ignore him in his last chance to impress the nfl scouts. What a joke! I'm still hoping some teams give this kid a shot. He had 2 thousand yard seasons. This year was even more impressive because he only had half the opportunities to run the ball and he still eclipsed the mark. Luke Lippincott is a special running back. I will be very angry if they don't invite him to the nfl combine.

I should correct myself, Jacob Ramsey was getting about 1/3 of the carries- before what appears to be an injury to him. Expect Goebel to get about 1/3 of the carries next year behind Pead.

WL, I agree about Luke Lippincott getting a combine invite, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Danny Woodhead and Nate Kmic were the all time all division NCAA career rushing leaders, yet a bunch of other (black) small school RBs got an invite over them. Eric Peterman was a good receiver for NW (with good speed) who was almost equally productive to Percy Harvin catching the ball in his career and almost as versatile (considering Peterman's brilliant special team and punt return work, where Harvin was an amazing receiver and rusher), yet wasn't invited. The NFL needs to have a class action lawsuit against them, before they'd even think about being fair.

Wow, Grand Valley State's Jimmy Berezik did it again. Last year he was suspended for the quartefinals. This year he made it all the way to the semifinals. Loser.
