Minnet has been a beat for the Jackrabbits this year! I've been able to watch a few Jack's games this year, and he is amazing.

I think Luke is done for the night, it is 48-0 and they are rotating other guys in. Luke has looked pretty good tonight. 12 carries for 112 yards 9.3 ypc and 2 tds.

They are bowl eligible with this win so that leaves Nevada with 4 games left, after tonight Luke will have over 700 yards so hopefully he can crack the 1,000 yard mark this season.

At least four times during the game, immediately after Luke ran the ball, the ESPN douchebag declared that he didn't really do anything special and that it was all the O-Line's doing. Even if that were that case, why did he feel the need to keep saying it? And why did he never say it immediately after a Taua or Kaepernick run?

Also, Jurovich had a very nice game for SJSU. 6 catches for 110yds so far. He's not a RB, obviously, but I didn't feel like making another post in a different thread.

Does anyone think that David Sinisi (almost 4,800 career yards rushing) will get a shot in the NFL? I haven't seen him run.

He plays  here in NJ where I live FootballDad.  He has a chance as a free agent.  I doubt he will get drafted though.

.....Well, maybe if he spends the next few months in a tanning booth, he might pass as a brutha, and then all 32 teams will be salivating......

Sinisi has generated some press, but being white and from a small school, I'm not sure what will happen to him come draft day. If he has a good Pro Day workout, then he might get picked up by someone. No doubt he has the talent to play on Sundays, but opportunities for him to do so will be rare.

Let's hope for a combine invite, although the chances for that are probably very low, kinda like Nate Kmic a couple of years back.

I am not expecting Sinisi to get a combine invite.    An athletic freak like Danny Woodhead didn't even receive an invite so we can't get our hopes up for a slower, slightly larger white runningback.  Hopefully he will at least catch on as a free agent with a team like the Packers or Colts.

Here's a little good news for you guys on white RBs that it appears we have been too quick to complain are being screwed by their coaches:

Kevin Harris led the Demon Deacons in carries today with nine. He apparently was still limited from his groin injury last week. Pendergrass and Adams both had better games than him though- with less carries.

I'm not sure what's up with Jared Hawkins, but I saw an article that said he "remains sidelined" and it mentioned his foot injury at the beginning of the season.

Jake Sharp is still playing hurt it seems.

Hopefully all three of these guys can petition the NCAA for another year of eligibility. I think Harris and Sharp have the best shot at getting granted another year, since they have better pro potential and have missed some serious time. Sharp had his red shirt burned for mostly special teams as a freshman and has played hurt the great majority of this year. Harris has missed a big part of this season and part of his freshman year with injuries. I'm not sure what's going on with Hawkins, but it might be more of an issue of the coach deciding to keep him on the bench for two true freshman in a meaningless season (they are ineligible for a bowl game).

Luke Lippincott had a nice 149 yard, 3 Touchdown performance today. Hopefully he'll make it to 1,000 yards on the year to make it 2 years he's eclipsed that mark in his career. That will at least give him an outside shot at a combine invite which would in turn give him a low shot a being drafted.

Ryan Christian of TCU is downright electric. He's sort of a RB/WR combo and he hasn't had a whole lot of opportunities in his career, but I just saw him put a move on an afflete before taking it to the house that was just nasty. Hopefully he can make it to an NFL training camp so he'll have a shot of showing what he can do. He'll most likely run a 4.3-4.4 at his pro day if not even quicker than that.

Ryan Christian reminds me of a cross betwen Jake Sharp and Jordan Shipley. Why he doesn't get the ball more is a mystery.

Jake Sharp has sort of dissapeared in the last couple months with an injury, but he still has a world of potential and reported 4.2 speed. From what I've read he's still not 100%, but if he can put together a big game tonight against Texas on primetime national t.v. that should put him back on the draft radar. As long as he gets a combine invite he'll definatly perform well enough to get picked up by an NFL squad.

I'm leaning toward guessing he doesn't get a combine invite. Less productive blacks..um I mean backs (ex. Brandon James of Florida) will likely get the invite over Sharp. Sharp needs to ask for a 5th year of eligibility and keep his fingers crossed he gets it.

I hope Jake and Kevin Harris are able to get an extra year due to their medical issues. I would love to see Toby come back for another year, but I doubt it will happen. Luke Lippincott would make a great runner on any NFL team, although he'll have to find a way to get over the media's iron curtain to get a fair shot.

White Runningbacks at other levels

Jake Peterson, SR RB, Morningside College
Jake finished the season as the nations's leading rusher in NAIA football. Jake currently stands at 1,548 yards on 216 carries (7.2ypc) with 19TD. Morningside won their first NAIA playoff game and moves on to the second round next week against #1 ranked Sioux Falls (who also have a white RB, #10 in the nation Ryan Lowmiller).

Jim Bower, SR RB, Maine Maritime Academy
Jim finished the season as the nation's leading rusher in DIII football. He currently has 1,771 yards and 25TD (also tops in the nation). Unfortunately, MMA's season is over, having lost their first round playoff game to Montclair State, 38-22. The next closest runner to Jim who is still playing has 1,576 yards. So he might finish out the season as the #1 overall.

The final stats for last weekend haven't yet been compiled for DII football (and I don't want to look them all up myself, player by player). But, at last check, Rustin Dring of U of Nebraska-Kearney was #4 in the nation at 1,559 yards (He has 1,648 after their loss this weekend, but I haven't gotten all the other players' stats yet.) Rustin is just a sophomore, so expect big things from him in the future.

Isn't it something how we have white RBs at the very top in every classification of college football, yet none of them are deemed good enough to play regularly as an RB in the NFL. Seems very suspicious to me, and anyone else who cares to think about it.

Ultimately for the caste system to come down and for perceptions to change, these excellent white RBs need to put their neck on the line and transfer to FBS schools. To quote Kelly Clarkson, they need to get "out of the darkness and into the sun...take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway..." LOL. Seriously though, that's what needs to happen. They need to pack the RB position at schools like Stanford, Northwestern, Iowa, Boise State, etc. They need to put themselves out there and declare they want to be RB in the NFL. If they simply avoid the challenge, things won't change. Lets hope these guys will make the tough decisions in the future and take bigger risks to help bring down the caste system!

Anybody else watching UT v A&M?
Swope has performed very well on KO returns tonight.
He makes one big return out to midfield and Jesse Palmer says something like "This guy's got speed!". Well, of course, the guys in the truck have to radio in the proper modifier to the booth, so Craig James follows that comment with "He's got deceptive speed." Uh, whatever that means, Craig. Then Fowler finishes off the redirect by mentioning Texas KOR Marquise Goodwin, "Goodwin is just a bit faster than Swope."
Now why the hell is there any reason to immediately start talking about a player on the other team? Why the need for the modifier? And it's not even true!
I looked up Goodwin's confirmed combine numbers from Rivals. He has a 4.4 official 40. Swope ran a 4.32 according to Scout.

RW, from what I heard it seemed like the one guy said speed, and clarified it by saying "competitive speed," which is a compliment in my book. James simply said "deceptive" with the tone of giving him a compliment, as in someone says "how was the movie" and you respond "good," dragging the middle consenent a little bit. Whatever, the one guy even said "Swope is a running back... a converted running back." That's good that he let people know about that!
