Here's a post for some of you to chew on a bit. These are allthe white FBs and RBs in the Ivy League, unless the rostersare missing some players. There were acouple I couldn't find pictures of and left a question mark by their names. Since most teams haven't released depth charts yet, we'll have to see who starts and who sits. Of course there are black backs on every team, but Ithink this will be a good year for white Ivy League backs.Some of you skilled picture finders can help us all out by determining which of those questioned players are indeed white.

Colonel Jared Hawkins had a good game today, he rushed:
19-103-5.4-1 TD.

And Vanderbilt is not really using a backup much so Jared should have good yardage this season.
He needs to break a long run though, so far this year his long is 14 yards.

Derek Lawson went 7 for 73 tonight (10.4 avg). The Red Wolves lost a heartbreaker, though. Totally dominated Southern Miss, only to lose on two bad plays. But Derek has transformed Coach Roberts's offense into a two-back system. He and Reggie Arnold are both too good to put one over the other. I expect Derek to get a third of the carries from now on, and for the Red Wolves to do much more running.

Ryan Christian of TCU had a good game too, getting a team-leading 19 carries for 82 yards and the game winning TD! Looks like the rumors of him switching to WR were a load of BS, unless the TCU backfield is hit by injuries...

edit: Looks like Ryan was the feature back for the game! The QB had 17 carries and the nearest back had 7...Edited by: Gi-15

I didn't know of his military background much less that he's an officer!

Yeah I guess I forgot the comma after Colonel. That is why I usually use the edit feature, I'm bad with commas and punctuation, good with grammar and sentence prose.

There are only 4 white running backs that will see significant carries this yr:

Gebhart=Stanford

Mcguffie=Michigan

Lawson=ArkSt

Hawkins=Vanderbilt

Although there is only a few, it is better than it was a few yrs ago when only Staley and kechmermer{SP}, the kid from Nevada, were the only noted white running back.

Their are some more players to add to the list Joe Tuzze plays running back for Akron and saw action in the last game 5 carries for 24 yards. Andrew McCloud is a sophmore for Western Kentucky 4 carries for 33 yards . Bryan Kayria sounds Polynesian but he is very white he had 3 carries for 13 yards. Bobby Mc Clintoc seems to be the #1 ball carrier for for Portlans State 6 carries and 19 yards for his team. Kirl Elsworth is getting carries for Western Michigan he had 4 carries for 43 yards.

We might have another white runningback on the horizen, Goebal of Cinn. He is only a SO, and despite sharing carries, he leads Cinn. in rushing. Has anyone seen him play, I havent, if so what type of runningback is he? a scat back, power runner, does he have speed...etc?

As of right now, there is just one white RB in the top 20 in rushing, Toby Gerhart at 16. Derek Lawson is 29th, Jared Hawkins in 42nd, Kent State QB Julian Edelman is 46th, Eric Kettani is 66th, Arkansas State QB Corey Leonard is 71st, Kyle Halderman is 74th, Air Force QB Shea Smith is 85th, Central Michigan QB Dan LeFevour is 90th, Rice QB Chase Clement is 92nd, Sam McGuffie is 95th, which makes 11 whites in the top 100 in FBS rushing yardage. Hopefully this will iprove as the season goes along.

Over in the FCS, David Sinisi from Monmouth is still number one in rushing yardage, David McCarty at Albany is 8th, Shane Smith at Wagner is 18th, Kyle Minett from South Dakota State is 22nd, Chad Kackert from New Hampshire is 24th, Colgate QB Greg Sullivan is 27th, Tyler Roehl is 38th, Phil Morelli at San Diego is 40th, Joe Trombetta at UC-Davis is 55th, Dane Romero from Wofford is 58th, Todd Pendland from McNeese State is 61st, Wofford QB Ben Widmyer is 68th, Stan Zwinggi from Texas State is 75th, Matt McGowan at Lehigh is 78th, Marist QB Chris Debowski is 88th, and Ross Wiemer from Valparaiso is 91st, which makes 16 whites in the top 100 in rushing yardage in the FCS.Edited by: Colonel_Reb

Yeah, it's too bad the team is playing well below their abilities.
They let Memphrica drag them into a thug fight in the first half.
They are much better than this. They need to have confidence in their offense and not play so tight. Too much 'behind the line' play calling. That's not what beat TAMU. They should go down the field.

Ok it's almost 12.00 AM on a Saturday Night and I'm depressed with the running back situation. They me give you some examples. Toby Gerhart carried the ball only 2 times today. Did he get hurt? The other Stanford rb had a huge game and that doesn't look good for Gerharts chances.

Sam McGuffie only had a little over 30 yards rushing and his backup looked alot better. Will he still remain number 1 on the depth chart?

Jake Sharp, Kevin Harris, and many others are almost non existant.

Kyle Bell had 13 touches but was out done by his teammate again. The other rb got 15 touches so Kyle cannot complain too much about today. He just didn't get it done as has been the case all year. He has never been the same since the injury.

I am just a little depressed that our guys are not standing out more. McGuffie and Gerhart had a couple of good games but that is about it. We need these kids to turn into stars. Luke Staley always came with his A Game. I will say this. Staley had more talent around him and a better offensive line. That does help alot. I just know how the Caste System works. If a white running back has one bad game or even a few bad series, they don't cut him any slack. I will never stop rooting for our guys. I just want to see some better results. Jake Sharp is the best running back on Kansas. I just want him to shine like Brian Leonard and others have along with the other backs. Especially Sam McGuffie. He can change perceptions as much as any running back to ever play the game. We need him to excel in order for the future guys to get a fair chance to be the number one back on a major powerhouse team. Let's step it up guys.

Week 5 Division IA RB review:

Gerhart went out with a concussion early in the first quarter White Lightning; this is very disappointing because Toby would have likely had the similar phenomenal game that Kimble had. Kimble will likely see increased carries now, but Gerhart will still likely have at least equal carries. Brock Bolen hasn't rapped up the starting HB job at all in Louisville. Brock will need better blocking and a FB in front of him more, but has still underperformed so far in his chances.

Kyle Bell's chances for the NFL are completely done as of now, and rightfully so. He has lost a step since his injury it seems and has been outplayed by Gartell Johnson. I hope he turns it around, but it is not likely. Micah Mosely and Luke Lipinncott are injured, which is very unfortunate. This is especially so for Lipinncott, who is quite a talent, as this was his senior year. I hope Luke applies for another year of eligibility and dominates next season.

Sharp might still turn it around as Mangino said it is his vision he is disappointed in, not his talent. Kevin Harris is getting screwed for Wake Forrest. Wake's running game is absolutely atrocious and Kevin deserves significant carries, but is getting literally zero. I hope Wake goes winless the rest of the season b/c their coach is a caste whore!

Sam McGuffie had literally "zero" good blocking. However, there were two times where Sam was tackled one on one by a Badger LB in the open field. Sam is the type of RB this should not happen to. On one of the plays Sam tried to cut at the last minute. Sam has to cut earlier and use his elite burst to beat that defender. I was a little disappointed in Sam because he had two chances this week to have long runs and he missed.

White RBs aren't afforded the same growing pains. Sam will have to get more creative with his running and trust his vision more because he has horrible blocking in front of him. Sam will need some big plays to increase his YPC, because as of right now a lot of his plays are bound to be losses with that horrid o-line and unspectacular power. Sam, my advice to you is get cocky and use your instincts, you have all the talent in the world!

Kettani and Lawson played great this week and are a huge plus in a relatively bad week for white RBs.

P.S: Freshman Logan Dold only had 4 carries this week for Kansas State, but he may have some black blood in him by my impression of his picture on Rivals!

Your reaching he looks similar to McGuffie except he has a Gotee, and if you didn't notice alot of white kids are dressing and acting like brothas. I know it disgraceful, but it is part of this new screwed up culture that has been thrust upon us.

Eric Kettani had 175 yards on 19 carries against Wake Forest. I think that's worthy of mention in a "review," don't you think Tough J?

Yeah, I did briefly mention Kettani, but not enough considering how dominant he was. I am really disappointed in the circumstances of some of our guys this week though.

Gerhart will still be the starter, but from the looks of the situation Kimble will probably see about a third of the carries now. Gerhart got injured in a game he could have dominated. Too many of our guys are getting injured.

Boise State has a guy redshirting this season who might have a bright future on the Smurf Turf. Matt Kaiserman was the Idaho Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior in high school.

his bio has a short highlight video. and the kid has a wicked stiff arm.
