So much for ESPN's non-sense Scouts Inc. analysis of Sam McGuffie saying McGuffie "takes too long to gather and put together moves" and that he "lacks the ability to make multiple defenders miss". We got to see Sam's elite agility on his 23 yard pass catch. He got into the second level of the Utah defense and just juked a Linebacker/Safety out of his pants! Unfortunately other defenders were there to clean up for the defender Sam left helpless!

Allow me to say that this so far has been the most exciting as far as whites running with the football that I have seen in a very long time. Their were also quite a few Hawiians and Polynesians who also ran the ball well. I'll make up a list and post for those of you interested. I think we might be turning the corner on the brothas and their domination of the position.

You can post some Polynesians' stats if you wish, I won't tell you what to do, but I do not believe that "dark Polynesians" are part of the caste system phenomenon. For instance Samoans and Tongans are both relatively small groups by population, so are probably more likely percentage wise to make it as NFL defenders and RBs than even blacks.

If I were you; to keep it small, I would post just WR and RB stats for maybe Hawaians (who are less dark and probably somewhat effected by the caste system) and Cheng Ho of Harvard a Chinese RB. Cheng Ho is the only Chinese RB starter I think in all of the NCAA and is certainly an underdog athlete. You could also post about some non-black Hispanics.

However, posting dark Polynesians would be too long and drawn out and IMO there won't be many on this site interested.

I do agree with you though, that it would be good after all the stats for our favorite white players are listed for you to do a small blurb listing weekly stats of non-black, but non-white players effected by the caste system. So that is my advise to you White Power. Feel free to do your own thing, but keep it about underdog players who are most effected by the caste system for interest purposes.

Don't forget Mizzou's TE/WR Chase Coffman. He had 9 receptions for 120 yds and a TD. He also showed his abilities hurdling a defender and showing that he could catch anything.

Since JC took care of the WRs and TEs, I deleted them from my original post.

Gi-15, Brian has been used as a short yardage RB on and off the last two years. He's stillanLB, but led BC RBsin TDs last year with 6. He also had some significant TDs in 2006, leading the RBswith 6that year as well. He actually ran for over 1,000 yards as a senior in high school in 2003. Edited by: Colonel_Reb

Update on Skylar Jessen. His career might be over. So it is; the top two white RBs from the 2006 class, Skylar Jessen and Lucas Caparelli both may never play football again. Upsetting, but we still seem to be making some inroads.

Never-started careers of OL, RB likely over

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN Grady Maxwell's Cougar career, on hold with knee problems since his first day on campus, never got started. Neither did fleet footed Skylar Jessen's. The door remains slightly ajar but indications from the head athletic trainer at Washington State are that the outlook is ominous for the big man from Tacoma whose first cousin is Marcus Trufant and the running back from Spokane.

Never say never, but the injuries -- Maxwell has missed time with back and knee issues, Jessen for his hamstring -- are considered chronic, said WSU's head trainer.

While participation this season is out, barring something unexpected, the forecast for a return at any time is also dim.

"Skylar Jessen and Grady Maxwell will not be able to continue with football at this time due to chronic injury," said Bill Drake, head of athletic training services at Washington State.

The 6-2, 309-pound Maxwell, from Curtis High, arrived at Washington State unable to fully participate in his first fall camp at in '06 and has practiced sparingly ever since.

Jessen first strained his hamstring his senior year in high school and then tore it 12 months ago in spring ball. He has not practiced since. For more on Jessen's odyssey, see this article.

You often can't tell much about a person's ancestry just by their last name. Someone could be named McGuffie and be 1/8 Irish. Also, many names in this country that look Irish are actually Scotch-Irish, i.e. Scottish.

The Scottish and Irish are closely related genetically though. They both came from similar origins of the ancient Celtic peoples. I have actually heard that people of the Netherlands and also smaller spots in Northern Spain and Northern France as well, share very similar genetics to the Irish and Scots. Most Irish and Scots also have some Viking ancestry from the Viking raids of the Isles. Of course there is some English and even French Ancestry from their presence on the Isles as well.

It is true that You can't tell how Irish McGuffie is just b/c his name is Irish. But going back to the late 1800s people of the same ancestries often stuck together more as groups and married mostly within their group.

The Irish in fact, were looked down upon by many as a group until at least the Great Depression and at least a little until JFK. My grandfather had an old encyclopedia from about 1930, where it states that the Irish were often referred to as the N**gers of Europe.

It's just my opinion, but I think the Irish are a quick and tough group. We used to make great boxers b/c of our quickness and toughness. Now it seems that the Eastern Europeans have taken the crown as the best European boxers, but maybe the Irish will attain the title of best "White RBs".

Hey I can only hope there will be a day where there will be enough white RBs that people will wonder, whites from which part of Europe are best.

Brian Toal was from NJ. He was a two way player in H.S, RB and LB, I think for Bergen Catholic. I hope to see him in the NFL. I think he has a brother at BC too.

Actually, it was Brian's older brother Greg who played at BC from 2000-03.

Not to nitpick, but there aren't any Ivy League backs listed here? Occasionally an Ivy League back has a cup of coffee in the NFL. Who could forget Ed Marinaro(Minnesota Vikings tailback)Hill Street Blues actor.Edited by: white is right

I'm looking forward to the return of UGA powerhouse FB Brannan Southerland from injury. He's under-utilized (of course) but led UGA in scoring/TDs season before last. He runs a 4.6 40 & squats near 700 lbs. Coach Richt needs to utilize him for more than goal line possessions & blocking when he returns.

Ijust haven't taken the time to list them yet. Their seasondoesn't start until September 19,so there is no hurry and no reason to get upset, they will be there. You do realize they play just 10 games a year. Just out of curiosity white is right, do you remember me listing their stats both of thelast two years? If so, have a litle more faith than that.

Thanks for the info, WP. BTW, why aren't you including the stats for the players you mentioned so much?

Derek Lawson of Arkansas State had 211 yards on 18 carries with 1TD tonight.
It's really nothing to be proud of, though. ASU won 83-10 against the worst team in the country, Texas Southern. He did get the opportunity to show his speed on a nice 80+ yard scamper, though. If nothing else, he removed all doubts that he can be RB#1 if need be (something the fans weren't sure of).

Halderman at Air Force is averaging an incredible 19 yds per carry. We discussed him a couple of years ago in the High School section. He was a really good basketball player and track athlete, who only played football his senior year. In that year he set the national record for two 99 yd TD receptions in a season and averaged around 30 yds per catch. He timed 4.3 in the 40 at some of the camps and was first team all state in Texas as a WR. Just imagine how good he could have been if he played more than one year. It is good to see him doing well at the Air Force Academy.
