Rather than delving into Boyd's strengths/weaknesses, I'll simply give my view of the ACC...

This year, the ACC is even weaker than last year. Wake Forest has improved this year, but the Boston College offense still sucks just like last year. This is holding back the ACC. The MSM will also point to Miami's inconsistency, and, last night, they lost to Virginia.

At QB, I don't see any NFL prospects in the ACC. You have older guys like Jacory and EJ Manuel that would get killed in the NFL. You have other guys like Logan Thomas, of V-Tech, that are going to get Ws simply because of their running game, dinking-and-dunking, and the weak competition they face.

Georgia Tech is out of the Top 25 now, which also hurts the ACCs rep. Florida State will likely be put back into the Top 25 soon (the PTB can't keep the Florida schools out every week). I figure that Clemson will defeat Tevin Washington's GA TECH team this week to remain undefeated. It's this undefeated "storyline" that the media latches onto, especially with black quarterbacks.

--Last year, Stanford played their Bowl Game against V-Tech and won. This year, one of the best things we could hope for is a Stanford/Clemson Bowl matchup. Since the pollsters are showing Clemson favoritism by putting them above Stanford, this would be an intriguing matchup.--

Just saw a jock sniffer on BSPN hype him. That is as good an indication as any that he will be their man.

Just saw Hill, Skip, & Mangini all agree that Griffin is a better selection at #1 then Luck. Hate to say it but this is the beginning of the media crusade to have back to back black QB's selected #1.
Despite the consistent failure of black QB's they continue to get inordinate amount of time to "develop their potential."
Can anyone honestly, and without bias say that VY's game last night was better then TT's Vs. Jet's? Tebow in 5 starts has thrown less interceptions then VY did in one.
Another thing I noticed last night while watching the game was the play where VY under threw a wide oped MeSean Jackson resulting in an INT. Now what stood out to me on that throw was the fact that not only did VY hesitate to throw into 1-1 coverage, but that when he finally decided to(after about 3-4 choppy 'steps') his feet were not planted; and when the ball was released he was literally in the air. Obviously a QB who has been in the NFL for 5 full seasons, this being his 6th; should have these mechanical issues fixed.
Secondly the interception in the end zone when he again under threw the ball to a wide open Riley Cooper; was one of the very worst throws I have seen in the NFL this year. Cooper, who stands at about 6'4 was open in the end zone and VY missed him by throwing short. Not to mention the 5 or 6 other throws to Cooper that were either over or under thrown, i.e. the sideline "drop."
I am a fan of white players, and Tebow is one of my all time favorites. Even now in only his second year he limits the type of mistakes that VY makes on a regular basis. He may not be the most accurate passer in the NFL, and guess what he knows it. That is why he puts the ball out of his receivers reach, he would rather take the incompletion then risk the INT.
It's a risk/reward management concept that Tebow understands; and conversely VY,Scam,Vick,Freeman, and Jackson do not. Now that being said if he still has a 50% completion rate in his 6th year I will gladly admit that he is not an NFL QB.
Somehow I just don't see that happening.

If every NFL team had Oklahoma's "defense".. Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Ryan and Stafford would have 10,000 yard seasons! And, "busts" like Alex Smith would have 6,000 yard seasons..

At the beginning of the season, I mentioned that OUs defense would likely be subpar. In hindsight, I'd say they played pretty well at the beginning of the season, but then they became what I expected they would be. Is Baylor winning at home over OU (minus Broyles/Whaley mind you) more impressive than Texas Tech going into Norman and winning, snapping OUs long winning-streak at home? I think not!

And, besides, few on CF will have sympathy for Stoops..

It's going to get sickening in the upcoming weeks. Unfortunately all of us have seen this hype machine at work before and this will be nothing new to us. It's going to carry over into the draft; and come April he will most likely be considered #1. Mark it!

Just saw Adam Shalome on BSPN say that Griffin may end up as the QB for Denver next year. In what ****infested-negroasslicking parallel universe are they living in? SEC is the best hands down right? Tebow rewrote the record book there! Whatever just another one they will prop up and I get to see fail.

Well it looks like the hype of Griffin has lead him to be a Heisman finalist. Won't be surprised if he wins, its a shame because Luck is the best player in the country.

I see Cleveland as a potential landing spot with caste whore Fat Walrus at the helm. Jacksonville will not take him - the drafted Gabbert and extended the contract of their GM - Gabbert and Gene Smith are tied at the hip. The Redskins could take him and be mediocre for 5-6 more years but I think Shanahan stays away from affletic QBs. Ponder is the Vikings future and has played well.

Griffin gets the hype because he is black and "electric". Baylor plays in a wide open conference and several QBs put up huge numbers in the Big 12 annually.

Laughable Heisman candidates this year, beside Andrew Luck. Montee Ball? Please! And the token defensive player, Tyrann "HoneyBadger" Mathieu, an LSU DB. Of course, I predicted early in this thread that Griffin III would have an unbelievable hype train careening down the tracks for him.

I'd really hate to see another black quarterback win the Heisman but unfortunately it's looking like it's an inevitability. Yeah he's put up some good numbers, but lots of other Big 12 qb's have in the past and everyone always says it doesn't mean anything because Big 12 defenses are a joke. Funny how nobody is saying that now. To top it off he's on a 3 or 4 loss team. He's got some pretty good receivers too while Andrew Luck has nobody. I can't stand Griffin's typical Black ****iness either. Did anyone catch him say he thinks he just won the Heisman during his post game interview against Texas ? You can bet the media hype machine is going to make him the #1 overall pick just like they did with sCam. black quarterbacks like sCam and Griffin are going to lead to the extinction of the White QB. How many DWF high school coaches are gonna start trying to turn their black backs and receivers into quarterbacks.

All of them, if high school football in my home state is any indication.
High School coaches may be slightly more trustworthy on racial fairness than college coaches, but it's not a huge difference.
They have a factor working against them that college coaches don't have to deal with. They have to live in those close communities. It can cause problems for them with friends and acquaintances if they are in a majority white town and they conspicuously play only negroes during games (although that didn't make one bit of difference in my hometown - 58% white town, 100% black football team).

Not so fast on the extinction of the white QB just yet. We've seen mobile fast strong armed black QB's before, such as Randall Cunningham. You still have to be able to make split-second decisions and have the courage to stay in the pocket and get down field by throwing the ball!

I wish some of the parents of the up-and-coming white QB's or parents who want their sons to be a QB would work on their speed more. This would add another dimension to their game.

Lew, you do have a point about the possiblity of the extinction of the white QB, in that, if the secondary defenses get so bad because they are 90% black, meaning CB's and S's. Most of them are terrible now.
How are we going to be able to tell if white DB's can do better if all the QB's are black and all DB's are black. There will be nothing to measure against and that could be a potential disaster for the white football player.

Let's all on CF hope and pray this doesn't happen, but like I've said here many times, if you are a parent of a son who wants to play football, it takes work and spending time with your sons to ensure this never happens!

Riddlewire, not happening out here so fast. I live near Charlotte and most teams in Charlotte are mostly black, but the premiere QB's of those teams were white. This year.

Perhaps you may be right in the future, but I hope you're wrong.

As my avatar shows, one of the best QB's of all time was Roger Staubach! My opinion! My favorite football player.

Intelligence, courage, elusive when needed. White QB's & kids need to get back to this kind of player, but more importantly the person.

No other player that I can name represented courage and class more than Roger Staubach. Although we could be seeing another in....

Tim Tebow! Let's hope so!

Griffin will not be an elite NFL QB, SCAM is not elite and will not be. SCAM has hit his ceiling, teams have tape on him, he has more INTs than TD passes.

How many of SCAMs TD runs were of the 1 yard variety? He is a TD vulture, they have two highly paid RBs they can give the ball to in goal line situations yet they give the ball to Newton to inflate his stats.

Looking at the joke scouting sites like Rivals, Scout and ESPN their are still an overwhelming majority of White QBs are highly ranked. The fawning over Griffin is disturbing as he plays in a spread offense and just chucks the ball down field to his admittedly very talented and underrated WR Kendall Wright. I won't be surprised if he wins, I have come to terms that the media is heavily skewed in favor of those "exciting" afflete QBs. My best advice is to try to not get to emotionally invested in all this B.S.

I'm quite sure that the QB position is quite solidly ours. This is not too much of a threat to the caste talking points e.g. smart, hardworking, not the most athletic. However white duel threat QB's are in-fact quite a threat as they expose the hippocratic and blatantly racist code words. One of the main reasons I believe that K-State was shunned from a major bowl. Can't have another Tebow so quickly, must make Tebow seem like an illusion. I just worry that the Heisman "war drums" will be a lead up to the draft. The trend should be clear by now i.e. black boys can't play a white man's position. But there will be an inevitable waste of a high round pick on an afletic boy.
Good thing about the new CBA is NFL teams will be cutting their losses much quicker then in times past.

Even though I've never really watched this skinny quarterback from Baylor, I already know the hype machine is going to rise to a fever pitch when a caste clown like Gruden notes on Monday Night that Jacksonville should consider scrapping the Blaine Gabber era after just one year and starting over with "RG III".

Here's the bottom line: According to posters on this site with Jason Cambell benched, Big Don (McNabb) soon to be retired and eating doughnuts 24/7 and Uncle Tom David Garrad down with a back injury, we are down to just 4 starting black QB's: Vick, who is over 30 and frequently injured....Travaris (sp?) Jackson, who is a mediocre backup type at best....ESPN's mulatto poster boy Josh Freeman, who is having an awful year...and Scam Newton, who has thrown more Ints than TD's. Also, outside of another bizzare looking mulatto backing up Alex Smith in SF, there seems to be no other "special QB's" in the pipeline (not counting Vince Young).

Realizing this, NFL leaders know there will be much anger and hate spewed by ESPN types if we get back to the point where the league only has 2 or 3 starting black QBs, which will happen next year if Seattle drafts a Barkley type. To stop this, I fully expect this "RG III" will be a top 10 pick, perhaps top 5? It will be done to placate the obvious angst blacks have regarding the "bleaching out" at the QB position.

With that, who do I want to see draft him? I'd say Seattle. I'd love to see 60-something year old whigger Pete Carroll end his career on down note -- which will almost definitely happen if they select "RG III" ... Miami is another fairly white unfriendly team that I would not mind him going to...worst case scenario might be Washington, which is becoming slightly less caste under Shanahan.

I second that. It's always nice to come to a site and be able to share my thoughts with other like minded individuals.

I really hope that Griffin does not end up in Washington, honestly I believe Mike and Kyle Shanahan have a strong preference towards white QBs. I cannot really figure out the whole McNabb fiasco, I guess they needed to create a buzz around the team but he did not even last a full year in Washington. Mike Shanahan's track record speaks for itself - Elway, Griese, Plummer, Cutler and his son Kyle worked with guys like Schaub, Rosenfels, Grossman and Leinart.

The Griffin hype is unreal, they only point to his Oklahoma and Texas games, they refuse to even mention his piss poor performance vs Ok St. Andrew Luck gets crucified for his performance vs Oregon but even in that game he played much better and put up better numbers than Griffin did vs Ok St.

Thanks men. I agree with LF, I seriously doubt the Shanahan's want to draft or trade for another overrated slug just for "diversity purposes". I was listening to owner Dan Snyder's good buddy Vinny Cerrato (ex-GM) on ESPN radio and he was gushing over Luck last summer -- saying Andrew is the best QB prospect he's ever seen. They wont get him, but Luck landing in Indy could bring Peyton Manning to D.C., via a trade.

The aforementioned Snyder, a liberal lonsman (aren't they all libs?) who once help launch "Air America" radio, has had a history of trying to bring black QB's to Washington. I think after trading the farm to move up for Jason Cambell and wasting a #2 pick with the McNabb trade, he will keep his nose out this one and let the "football men" make the choice -- or I hope he does. Even if Peyton doesn't get traded to Washington, Matt Barkley or some other white QB could be targeted by Shanny. Again, the Skins have made some strides towards becoming a little bit more white friendly, so "RG III" landing in D.C. would be tough to take.

BSPN has a good video segment on Colin Klein as "The Most Surprising Player" of the year, but couldn't get through the segment, or even really start the segment, without an unnecessary reference to RGIII..."From the start of the season, with that first Friday night game when you had Baylor and TCU, and Robert Griffin the Third burst on to the scene...."

And here it is, Griffin being touted as a better long term prospect then Luck. Wonder how long it will take him to realize that unlimited potential.
Sad thing is that most of the GBH's upside is realized in high school. How often do you actually see any real development from the GBH?
I mean Denard Robinson is essentially the exact same player he was as a true frosh. Same with Griffin, Boyd, Smith, Manuel, and Daniels.
I would love to be proven wrong on this, but can anyone remember a GBH that really had dramatic improvement?

Are some members of the media having "Hype-Buyer's Remorse"? Probably not.
But at least one football writer wants to go on record with his doubts about Griffin. He'll most likely be fired before the New Year.

"They don't call plays in the huddle. They walk to the line, the play comes from upstairs to the sideline, and it's signaled in," said one NFC executive. "The coordinator upstairs is reading the defense, (Griffin) is not doing that at all. And in the NFL, you're going to have to be the one reading the defense. You have to know what's going on at all times. And you have to get him under center, taking 3-, 5- and 7-step drops."

Another NFC exec said, "It's a very good system, and they've done a heck of a job recruiting for it. ... But it's simple, and he'll have to adjust. He's really smart, accepted to law school and all that, but it'll be an adjustment. … You're not gonna come in and put him in a Peyton [Manning] offense."

"That offense made things simple on him," said the scout. "Because he's such a running threat, he saw soft coverage, you didn't see defensive ends bending the corner to get him. They played him different to keep him in the pocket, and as a result, he got passing lanes he may not get in the pros. It's a problem, because he's got average-to-below-average size. The Vick comparison is there, because you figure he'll miss games (due to injury), but you can't tell him not to run, because that's what makes him special."

The scout continued that, "There's gonna be a significant development period. Him moreso than anyone. You can't fault him for what they didn't ask him to do. I think he's capable of it. But it's natural as a talent evaluator to want to see it."

Griffin did complete 72.4 percent of his passes this year. The college scout said part of that is that "roughly 75 percent" of his throws went no further than 7 or 8 yards past the line of scrimmage.

Beyond Baylor's offensive structure, other negatives you get from these evaluators start with Griffin taking hits that aren't necessary. "He's not as big as Cam (Newton) and takes more hits than he should. You wonder if he's trying to be a tough guy ... because he doesn't always play smart," said the first exec.

On the flip side, he does run with the purpose of throwing, but his accuracy was rarely tested with tight-fitting throws. There were also third-down inconsistencies that raise red flags. "If it's third-and-6, Barkley will get it more than RG3 does," said the second exec. "When I look at RG3, I see a lot of big plays, but a lot of third downs he didn't get too."

He just described, to the letter, a system quarterback. Yet none of them are willing to use those words. Just like no media are willing to criticize anything Obongo does for fear of being called "racist".

It's easy to see all that Robert Griffin III does right. He's got a Heisman Trophy as a result of that. He put together a 3,988-yard, 36-touchdown, six-interception season to prove it.
And the offense Baylor coach Art Briles deployed his star QB in is undeniably well-conceived for the college level, having a proven track record at Houston and now with the Bears.

Stanford's Andrew Luck, of course, has been running that kind of attack for three years, which is one big reason why he's considered one of the most pro-ready college quarterbacks in decades.
And with his recent admission of what everyone has long assumed, Luck brings a lot of certainty to the process for evaluators, in that his production in college came while performing a facsimile of NFL tasks.
USC's Matt Barkley falls into a similar category, though he lacks the physical tools Luck has. His decision Thursday to return to Los Angeles for his senior year only further shines the spotlight on the questions surrounding so many other college quarterbacks, with potential potholes lying ahead for those making the transition.


One college scout assigned to the Big 12 I spoke to was less enthusiastic about Griffin's prospects than the above execs, but conceded that he's one that some will more than likely fall for over his overwhelming physical gifts.

The positives? Griffin is more athletic and has a better arm than Luck or Barkley(Better arm?) Also, Griffin did complete 72.4 percent of his passes this year. The college scout said part of that is that "roughly 75 percent" of his throws went no further than 7 or 8 yards past the line of scrimmage, but Griffin also exhibited deep accuracy uncommon for a spread quarterback in limited chances to show it.
Beyond Baylor's offensive structure, other negatives you get from these evaluators start with Griffin taking hits that aren't necessary.

"He's not as big as Cam (Newton) and takes more hits than he should. You wonder if he's trying to be a tough guy ... because he doesn't always play smart," said the first exec.

On the flip side, he does run with the purpose of throwing, but his accuracy was rarely tested with tight-fitting throws. There were also third-down inconsistencies that raise red flags. "If it's third-and-6, Barkley will get it more than RG3 does," said the second exec. "When I look at RG3, I see a lot of big plays, but a lot of third downs he didn't get too."
Add it all up and you have a fascinating player. Where one of the execs said Luck's upside is that of a more athletic Peyton Manning, and Barkley's ideal is to wind up being a shorter, more compact Troy Aikman, all three of the aforementioned guys compared Griffin to Randall Cunningham. Not bad.

"He makes some throws that blow your mind," the first exec said. "With Luck, you're getting a safe pick. With Barkley, you're getting a safe pick. Maybe they won't win world championships, but they'll be plenty good no matter what, in my mind. There's more of a risk factor with Griffin. But if you hit on him, you've got a chance to have a world-championship-making player." (Get off your knees!)
