Why is it people always say about the weak state of the Heavyweight division now?

It's because the Klitshckos are not fighting the USA that's why. If the Klitschkos fought in the USA more often rather than in Germany, these nincompoop commentators and critics alike would virtually run out of hateful words for the Klitschkos, as well as what they have to say about the division. Fighting in the USA may help sober the drunk US population, and make them more aware about the greatness of the Klitschkos.

A great win for Klitschko. He completely ignored the "script" they had for this fight. Klitschko's the older, slower, less skilled at boxing, but more powerful big man (supposedly)

. As it turned out, Klitschko proved once again that he is the best, by thoroughly outboxing the supposed better boxer. Of course I've already been reading about how Gomez was never really that good.

Note to boxing writers: When the "All the good boxers are playing football and basketball" line fails, toss in a few "This is a weak division" for good measure.

Has anyone mentioned/noticed that after round one Vitali may have been behind for the first time in his career? Personally, I saw the round either way. That, if true, is an amazing statistic. Teddy Atlas keeps talking about some "reach advantage" Vitali has. According to the despicable little Teddy, that's the only reason Vitali wins.

Teddy is a liar. He knows as well as I do that Vitali does not have an exceptionally long reach advantage, yet he talks about it over and over again, so to avoid being honest and acknowledging Vitali is an excellent boxer. Vitali's skill is the main reason he keeps on dominating his opponents.

Lennox Lewis really had a really long reach advantage over Mike Tyson, 84" to 71" and David Tua, 84" to 70". Yet none of the boxing commentators and sportswriters made much of it...

You would think that since reach is so important, then Michael Grant should have won a world title.

But perhaps Grant was unsuccessful because he had a very stupid trainer, namely, Teddy Atlas.

Great win by Vitali. They are running out of Great Black Hopes at heavyweight! I think the Haye-Wlad fight will have a similar result with the mouthy mulatto on the wrong end of an 8-round beatdown.

There are several reasons the Klitschko's fight in Germany.
First and foremost is money. Boxing is a much more popular sport than in the U. S. Tony Thompson was amazed that Germans on the street greeted him by name; that he was in fact a celebrity in Germany and an unkown in the US. Their training expenses are also lower if they train at home.
Secondly the officials may not be better in Europe but if the show favoritism it will probably favor the K boys. Gomez quit by turning his back on Vitali. Mayweather turned his back on and ran from Hatton but it was not scored as a TKO for Hatton.

People can say what they want. Vitali beat a very good fighter in Gomez. Gomez was 44-1 entering this fight. He dominated good fighters such as Denis Bakhtov and Vladimir Virchis. This just shows how great Vitali is. He is so solid and complete as a fighter it's just ridiculous. Now anyone correct me if I am wrong. I think Vitali has never been knocked down in a fight. Those stats tell alot about reach. Even though Vitali is 6'7 he doesn't have a monster reach. Whites generally have shorter reaches than blacks.

Teddy was insulting Vitali the entire night.  You could honestly tell that he was sad and frustrated with the outcome (as usual). 


He was making dozens of excuses for Gomez, ala Max Kellerman.  It's quite obvious to me that ESPN's Brian Kenney was rooting, defending, and happy for Vitali.  Even when Betty Atlas gave Gomez the 1st round, Kenny said "I thought it could go either way."  


Teddy began the broadcast by saying: "Klitschko's performance against Samual Peter was merely a mirage....it wasnt Vitali fighting great, more like Peter fighting like a glorified heavy bag."   Brian Kenny immediately said that Vitali fought amazing against Peter, and dominated him.   As usual, Teddy frequently mentioned how "horrible" the HW division has become (nearly every commentator has adopted this mantra).  There is no changing this creaton's mind, so we might as well get used to his super-biased opinions.


As sad as it is, I have a new found respect for Brian Kenny after this fight.  He seemed to disagree with Atlas on every racist agenda he tried to push.

I agree with you 100% on that post. Everytime Kenny tried to get Atlas to say something respectful about Vitali, Atlas would repeat the same mantra about how Klitchko has fought nobodies and that he is the best of a weak heavyweight division. Kenny appears to know what's up, kudos to him for trying to be fair.

Teddy Witless's stock as a trainer and commentator is going down. He's topped out, and I think he knows it.

He keeps saying that Vitali "submitted" in the Byrd fight when Vitali injured his shoulder and couldn't fight on. Who the hell is Teddy Witless to make that judgement? Athletes in every sport get hurt and have to stop to prevent further injury. Especially when your livlihood is at stake. Everybody knows that, except Teddy the Purist.

I notice Teddy has a little speech impediment and problem with enunciation, especially with pronouncing his S's. Say he is working a fight and bites his tongue badly trying to say sesquicentennial. Then the injury gets worse because it's a black/white fight and the black is winning so Teddy is all excited and slobbering, and he keeps biting his tongue. Sooner or later he realizes he can't finish the fight and has to shut up.

We would understand and not hold it against him at all.

I also heard Teddy's parrot-likerepeating ofthe "Vitali submitted to Byrd" stuff. Brian Kenny was trying his best to inform the DWF's that he suffered a torn rotator cuff during the fight (where he was way ahead of the super-boring Chris Byrd).

I was pretty sure he was never down in a fight. I also think he was never behind on the scorecards after the first several rounds of any fight. Even when he fought Lewis he was up by 2 rounds and if the fight went the distance probably could have won it by UD or KO late.

So Vitali has never been knocked down (heavyweight record), highest knockout percentage at 92 %, and has only lost 2 fights which he was ahead on the scorecards but was injured in one and the other stopped. These stats are incredible!Edited by: whiteathlete33

It appears so.Atlas has been involved in boxing 40 plus years and cut his teeth as a coach,pundit etc in a culture of boxing particularly with the heavys that was very American,very Las Vegas where all the champions and contenders were Black Americans who all invariably possessed the kind of loud aggressive boastful personalities and proclivity to misdemeanors of the worst kind like rape and murder.That made them larger than life for many of the white journalists and guys like Atlas as they come from a world that was far removed from their own.One that was bad,black,ugly and dangerous.That would be their personification in their world of the perfect heavyweight champion.Bad,Black,ugly and dangerous.Someone that scares little girls.He harks back to that time which has made him totally useless in passing neutral constructive judgement on the Klitschkos.Many of these guys also have an inferiority complex physically to Blacks which clouds their perception of reality.Needless to say this bloke no longer serves any purpose and should get the boot asap.

Long live the Klitschko Brothers. Boxing is fun again! It's funny how in tennis, the Williams Sisters are a household name because the media talks about them constantly. They alway tell us, what are the odds of 2 sisters both becoming top stars in tennis? Now ask yourself, why don't they give Vitali and Wladimir the same coverage? It's only obvious. European Men dominate the world in boxing period. The media, and fans are having a tough time dealing with. I love it. I just wish these guys were as well known as Ali and others that came before them. Oh, but to be a white champion these days. The media will ignore you and try to hide you away. Long live Vitali and Wladimir!
