Vitali may want to get into a bit better cardio shape to fight Haye. However, it will be another stoppage for Dr. Ironfist!

A solid win for Dr. Ironfist against a worthy foe. Of course the usual suspects will insist that Gomez was a bum, but he showed some fortitude by continuing after the 7th, and he's the man who defeated Vladimir Virchis to win the right to fight Vitali.

the more Teddy Atlas talks the more you can tell that his appreciation for boxing doesn't matter to him as much as hating the klitschkos. Maybe it's the fact that they're just TOO dominant. The best fights are fought between opponents that are just a little better on a given night than one another. Gatti and Ward comes to mind.

The Klitchkos have made over 90% of their opposition look terrible because they're just that damn good. If Teddy wants to find excuses as to why boxing is in trouble, he should point his finger towards the upsurgence of MMA and the "boxing is in trouble" meme that the sh*tty commentators have perpetuated since the early 2000's. If anything, the fighters have never been better and if Teddy really gave a rat's ass he would realize that.

The sport of boxing is suffering from terrible commentators like Teddy Atlas, who hate to see white boxers doing so well.

well they were making excuses for him for quite a few rounds after he had his eye cut saying "hes not mentally there" "its mentally making him not fight as well" which was atlas speaking
then atlas gave vitali no respect after the win
the other announcer was saying "you have to respect him as a fighter" and atlas was basically saying "no i dont, hes fighting nobodys"

He wasn't there because he was seeing stars from being clobbered in the head from long rights and heavy jabs. In the first round "El Negro Pantera" out worked Klitschko. But when Vitali started timing him he started taking the steam out of the weaker man. It was a similar beating to the Peter beat down. Gomez just boxed better than Peter. Edited by: white is right

On the one hand, I truly enjoy watching the Klitschko brothers destroy their opponents, especially the overhyped black ones. On the other hand, you have to put up with stupid DFWs and the media who give them no respect. For instance, check out a sample response from one of the ESPN message boards:

When the hope of the heavyweights depends on Valuev, we are in even deeper trouble. Most of the great athletes who normally would be in gyms getting in shape to make a run at the Klitzkos are playing football...there are a lot of tight ends and defensive ends who are big enough, fast enough, and mean enough to have become great heavyweights...I would love to have seen Ray Lewis in the ring or Tony Gonzales of KC. Not saying they are the ones...but that is where the best guys that big are hanging out...

When you have brainwashed morons like this, it'll be hard for great white athletes to change perceptions and correct popular, yet incorrect myths. Still, that was a great win by Vitali.

Vitali wasted Gomez. The fight was not even close. The result was exactly as most expected. For reasons known only to them, some thought the fight was going to be close, a real battle.

If you are of the type that HONESTLY thought the fight was going to be a contest, perhaps you need to re-think your methods of evaluating fighters.

Gomez is as good as Haye in many aspects, and he takes a better punch, so from this fight we can infer what a likely outcome of a Haye vs. Vitali fight would be.

Teddy was insulting Vitali the entire night. You could honestly tell that he was sad and frustrated with the outcome (as usual).

He was making dozens of excuses for Gomez, ala Max Kellerman. It's quite obvious to me that ESPN's Brian Kenney was rooting, defending, and happy for Vitali. Even when Betty Atlas gave Gomez the 1st round, Kenny said "I thought it could go either way."

Teddy began the broadcast by saying: "Klitschko's performance against Samual Peter was merely a mirage....it wasnt Vitali fighting great, more like Peter fighting like a glorified heavy bag." Brian Kenny immediately said that Vitali fought amazing against Peter, and dominated him. As usual, Teddy frequently mentioned how "horrible" the HW division has become (nearly every commentator has adopted this mantra). There is no changingthis creaton'smind, so we might as well get used to his super-biased opinions.

As sad as it is, I have a new found respect for Brian Kenny after this fight. He seemed to disagree with Atlas on every racist agenda he tried to push.
