I miss the Joe Namath style, a 45% pass completion rate, but 300+ yards.

One of the greatest aerial shows was in '72, a duel with the great Johnny Unitas. Joe had 6-7 TD's and 490 yards; and Johnny U. had 5 TDs and 350 yards. Jets won something 49-38.

Anyway:

Good to see that some caste media people are finally "torching" Young.

I guess the most dangerous precedent here is with the NCAA. If NCAA football continues to move towards having a majority of black players at quarterback, then in the future, Vince Youngs will be the only thing available for NFL teams to draft.

I can definitely see the NFL being forced by 2020 or so into having a majority of black players at quarterback, simply due to the NCAA providing them nothing but more Vince Youngs.

That is what I fear. I don't think in any way shape or form have the Caste proponents given up on the idea of the Vince Young "Superman" savior QB saving the NFL from evil white QB's. If they can't get them to succeed in the current NFL, they will just change the playing field. Michigan was a very good producer of pro style QB's over the last couple decades. It produced guys who were successful bakcups like Todd Collins, guys who have had success as starters in the league like Jim Harbaugh, Elvis Grbac, Brian Griese, Chad Henne who is being groomed as the future starter in Miami, Perhaps a QB who could have been very good in the NFL in Drew Henson had he not screwed himself up baseball and potential greatest of all time QB in Tom Brady. Now that Rich Rodriquez is there it will virtually put an end to Michigan producing solid NFL prospects. As more and more programs start to go to the spread offense which does not work in the NFL, teams are going to have to look to more obscure places to find suitable talent or reduce the caliber of play even more than it already is by introducing more and more of these poor black "running" QB's, and speedy defensive players who are poor tacklers. The NFL would think nothing of sabbotagings its on the field quality much like the NBA did, as they already have done it through the caste system. As long as then can fool the people into believing they are seeing the best product and are making money they could care less.

Hopefully people are slowly beginning to wake up as Don stated. If they don't, I have no doubt we will see the black QB revolution by hook or by crook.

Does anyone knowwhat is the status of Young on the team now? Is the team just waiting for Collins to have one bad game to put Young back at QB?

Collins is entrenched. He would have to have several bad games in a row for talk to even begin of putting Young back in. Collins is being the "game manager" the team wants. His receivers pretty much stink so he is Trent Dilfer reincarnated from the 2000 Ravens, a Super Bowl winning team similar to the current Titans--strong defense and good running game.

Quitting on the team and then his little "suicide" ride caused Young a lot of damage. It's pretty hard to excuse suchbehavior away as a product of "lingering racism" or any of the other standard explanations given for society's lower expectations when it comes to black behavior.Edited by: Don Wassall

Still hear the talking heads refer to Young as the 'future' of the team, he just needs more time....

This has been a depressing season. With Micheal Vick in jail, Tavarious Jackson and Vince Young benched, Steve McNair retired, and Leftwich in limbo, there are hardly any black QB's to rip on!!! And McNabb is doing OK as is Garrald and even Campbell, we really need one of those guys to fall apart for us to salvage this season. What fun is football if you don't have a bunch of inept black QB's to goof on? Thank God for the college game!!!!

Never fear -- "C-Pep" is back for our amusement. And with your godforsaken Lions yet!

Culpepper, Lions agree to two-year deal to put him at the helm

You missed the other threads where guys here are saying Kerry isn't that great and is an average quarterback at best.

All I know is... he just wins games.

You fellas have just jogged my memory. During yesterday's game the commentator (Moose Johnson?)complimented Collins after he escaped some trouble and ran for a crucial first down. He said Kerry showed athleticism on that play.

Nashville Tennessean columnist Joe Biddle wrote this about Vince Young today:

"it was nice to see Titans quarterback Vince Young back on the field after missing in action since being injured and later demoted to backup. Even if it was in a cameo role, Young looked comfortable running the team. Young doesn't need to stonewall reporters as he did after the game. No one wanted to make a big deal out of it, just wanted a couple of comments on how it felt to get some playing time. By refusing to talk to every reporter but one, Young took it from a game note to a story."

Biddle is a writer alweays ready with excuses most of the time.

Young a humble guy

"Football is football," the 2006 NFL offensive rookie of the year said, according the The Tennessean. "I am very talented, and everybody knows what kind of athlete I am. Now I just need to get smarter with the game and get ready to use my God-given talent."

I hate that man.

Haha, so "talented" that a has-been like Kerry Collins (you know, from the Panthers, Saints, Giants, Raiders, and Titans) took your spot.

While you were off contempating suicide (literally) after a single bad game in week 1....Collins was winning 10 games in a row. Collins isnt even an "afflete" like you, Vincy Boy.

Hmmm. After doing the dirty work in leading the Titans to the promised land it wouldn't surprise me if Collins was suddenly injured or yanked enabling Young to grasp the reigns again in time for the playoffs. I hate to be so cynical, but we are talking about the NFL.

Yup. Esp if the Titans lose another game.

Jabba the Hut(Jamie Dukes) and Rod Woodson were openly speculating about a qb change on the NFL network. Amazing that Jabba put down his Double Big Mac long enough to come up with this original idea.....

Vince Young is symptomatic of much that is wrong with the NFL, what with its affirmative action and racial spoils system, the lowering of fundamentals and acceptable standards of behavior, and the sense of entitlement so many affletes have. Reading how wimpy and weak Vince Young is, is sickening. Compare his lack of mental toughness to say, Rex Grossman and what he put up with with stoicism and grace. Vince Young throws likea teenage girl and has the mindset of one:

"Vince Young has revealed that the emotional ordeal surrounding the 2008 season opener in which he was booed at LP Field caused him to consider quitting football, a sentiment he had previously denied after similar situations in his three-year NFL career.

"I was to the point where man, I didn't really want to play no more because of the fact that I was that hurt," Young told ESPN's E:60 in an interview that will air on this morning's 9 a.m. edition of SportsCenter. "I was that hurt from the boos and all the different things that were going on. It was just so much for me â€" I didn't want to play no more."

The comments are the latest in recent weeks from Young, the No. 3 pick of the 2006 <NOBR id=itxt_nobr_4_0 style="FONT-WEIGHT: normal; FONT-SIZE: 100%">NFL <OBR> Draft and former Titans starting quarterback.
Earlier this week ESPN broadcast part of the interview, in which Young clarified his recent comments hinting he wanted to be traded. He told ESPN he did not wish to be traded, but if he did not regain his starting job in the next two years he would be ready to play elsewhere.

"I didn't want to play NO more."

Wow, Young's understanding of basic grammatical usage is nearly as poor as Emmitt Smith's.Well, maybe not

A white QB making those kind of comments about suicide and complaining about fans booing him would get booed even more and nobody would feel sorry for him except for the therapist the team would make him go see. Vince Young needs to man up, not sure he ever will.

guest301,

I'd guess he shot himself in the foot and he's finished. It'll just be a little while now before he's gone.

Young expected to come into the league, be a starter his whole career, and have everyone cheer for him. That is not the way the world works.

That's the way his world was working before he came into the NFL and if he had played even halfway decent, his world would still be working that way. They would be talking about this guy's "upside" and "potential" up until his retirement!
