Whitlock's observations can be applied to black athletes generally.  Pampered and praised, criticized very gingerly if at all, treated by many whites as if they're gods, still maintaining the lifestyles they came from except with lots more money to fund it, many seem to snap readily.  Also remember the traditional view of blacks (now almost completely forgotten and even turned on its head) that they lack stamina and don't react well to stressful situations.

By the 1960's, the idea that blacks lacked stamina was changed to "nothing hurts them," by football people. I am not sure if coaches and scouts still think that.

Police: Search for Young because of suicide talk

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)â€â€￾The Tennessee Titans called police Monday night for help searching for Vince Young because his therapist told coach Jeff Fisher the quarterback mentioned suicide several times before driving away from his home with a gun.

Both Fisher and Young have said what happened Monday night was overblown by the media. But the supplemental report filed Tuesday by Nashville police showed that Fisher was worried about the quarterback after the call from Young's therapist.

"I asked him, `What made her worry about him?' Lt. Andrea Swisher wrote. "He stated, `His mood, his emotions, he wants to quit, and he mentioned suicide several times.' He went on to state that he left the house with a gun."

I hope to God that Vick Young doesn't own any dogs! It looks like his mind is far more fragile than his oft injured body.

It is lawful in the state of Tennessee to carry an unloaded weapon in your vehicle. The police said the gun was unloaded and there was no ammunition in the vehicle.

Did they search him?

I don't know Bart, the article only said the gun was in the glove box, unloaded.

I don't know the point of carrying an unloaded weapon in a vehicle without any ammo in the car, anywhere, anyway so the whole things seems fishy to me.

I wonder if you can carry the gun in the glove box? Just about anywhere you can carry a gun in your car if it is unloaded and not accessable to the driver, ie the trunk, and it usually has to be "secured". You have to be able transport it. But having it available to the driver loaded or unloaded is usually a big no-no.

So he uses a handgun about as good as he plays quarterback. Just can't seem to follow through with a simple game plan huh? Four hours and you can't even load the gun to shoot yourself. What a dumb ass. He needs to practice more in the shotgun position, come on Vick Young get it right: Hut one,hut two...Boom!Edited by: WHITE NOISE

I don't know maybe he did try to shoot himself and that is why all the bullets disappeared. If Young is as inaccurate with his gun as with his passes, that may be why his life was spared.

Kerry Collins has been given the starting QB job in Tennesee. NFL.com put up a partial article about it that manages to put a negative spin on the move and berate Collins at the same time. The link is just below. Below the link I posted the full AP article. In the article on NFL.com, all the complimentary quotes by coach Fischer are left out and they added in some negative comments. Pathetic.

Coach sticks with veteran over troubled Young

By TERESA M. WALKER - AP Sports Writer

2008-09-15 16:33

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -The Tennessee Titans are sticking with veteran Kerry Collins as their starting quarterback as long as the team keeps winning.

Coach Jeff Fisher said so Monday following the Titans' 24-7 windy win at Cincinnati. The Titans are 2-0 for the first time since 1999, when they made their lone Super Bowl appearance.

``We're going to get Vince back, get his knee back, work with him, get him back involved in the offense,'' Fisher said. ``But Kerry's going to go ahead and play for us until either he struggles or whatever else happens. Yeah, you saw by the way he played. In light of everything, it just makes sense to go with him.''

The Titans had not given any projection for Young's return from his sprained left knee except to rule him out against Cincinnati.

Outside predictions have said Young, 18-11 since taking over as Tennessee's starter, could miss up to four weeks. Now that this move is official, it gives Young time to deal with his off-field issues after the team was given information that resulted in a call to police for help finding the quarterback, prompting a national discussion over his mental attitude.

Asked if he had relayed the decision to Young, Fisher said he had not talked to the quarterback who a week ago postponed a scheduled MRI exam to determine the extent of his damaged knee. Young did visit the team's offices Monday and had treatment on his knee.

``He's got to get back. He's eventually going to be under center for us. When that happens, I don't know. For right now, Kerry's our quarterback,'' Fisher said.

That's not what Young was expecting last week when he talked to reporters about what prompted the search to check on his mental well-being. Asked if he would have to win his starting job back, he said he doubted it.

``They drafted me to be the quarterback here at the organization, and that's what they want me to do. What I like about our organization is they're behind me all the way from Houston,'' Young said last week.

But for now, Fisher said it just makes sense to go with Collins after watching him play nearly mistake-free against the Bengals.

``Kerry did a great job managing the game,'' Fisher said.

The 35-year-old Collins, in the 150th start of his career, was 14-of-21 for 128 yards with one touchdown - his first since Sept. 24, 2006. The numbers were more impressive considering the windy conditions with gusts up past 50 mph that made it impossible for some of his own teammates to hear him at the line of scrimmage.

This is the same quarterback who was out of work until the Titans called him in August 2006 to help mentor Young. But now he's back as a starter.

Collins was not available Monday, but tight end Alge Crumpler, who signed a two-year deal with the Titans with the chance to play with Young among his reasons, said winning is the key.

``I just want to win games. That's the thing. Whoever's going to be under the center as long the guy leads us to victory, that's what we have to rally behind,'' Crumpler said.

That's key for a team that went 10-6 last season but lost on the road to San Diego as the sixth and final wild-card team. The Titans already own a precious one-game edge over the AFC South's perennial champ Indianapolis and a two-game lead over Jacksonville in the division.

Rookie Chris Johnson has provided speed to an offense that ranked fifth in rushing in the NFL last season. He got his first 100-yard rushing performance in Cincinnati with a 51-yard run that tied for the team's third-longest since the start of the 1999 season, and his 248 yards combined lead the AFC in yards from scrimmage.

Cornerback Cortland Finnegan leads the NFL with three interceptions, and only five teams have a better takeaway/giveaway ratio than the Titans with a plus-two.

And a team that was the NFL's worst at scoring touchdowns inside the final 20 yards in 2007 has found the end zone on four of five trips into the red zone. Only Pittsburgh and Denver have been better. Add in a favorable schedule with Houston (0-1) visiting Sunday with Minnesota (0-2) up next with a trip to Baltimore (1-0) before their bye.

``We all have confidence in Kerry. He'll be fine,'' Fisher said.

Collins is a mystery--sometimes up, sometimes down---when's he up, he's a real gunslinger. I wish him the best.

When Young comes back from his "injury," does he step right back in as the starter? I hope not.

Everybody knew this article was comming.

Now to another article. Question. Would this ever happen to a white quarterback? By players from Blacksonville?

YOUNG'S DISTRESS EVIDENT EVEN TO OPPONENTS: Vince Young's bizarre week began last Sunday when he refused to go back into the game against Jacksonville. How distraught was Young? Several sources told FOX Sports that even the Jaguars players saw how affected Young was by the rampant booing and, in a very strong change from the norm, his opponents actually began to try to help him get through his pain.

"I've never seen anything like this," said one source. "Players on another team were actually yelling to him, 'You can't let it affect you. Don't let them get you down.' One guy told him to stop pouting and take control. It was incredible. You could tell he was really struggling but I can't remember another team ever trying to prop up the opposing quarterback."

Another unbelievable, yet all too believable moment in the Negro Football League.

His fellow blacks wanted him to stay in the game, of course. It was a game with two black quarterbacks. Black men had finally taken complete control of the sport. But now Vince was trying to screw up everything!

Holy god, what collective sissyness. It's so cute that they're such sensitive little boys. Maybe that's the reason 99% of black males own more clothing and pairs of shoes than my wife.

I'm only surprised that ESPN didnt run with this "heartwarming story of blacks overcoming all the odds." Oh wait, they were too busy kissing ass while celebrating "Hispanic Heratige Month" (AKA - ratings increase ploy). Artificially building people up who don't deserve it....only in Affirmative Action America could this phony garbage ever take place.

Jeff Fisher was quoted as saying "As long as we're winning, Kerry Collins will remain the starter."

So hes staying put, albeit on a very, very short leash.Edited by: PhillyBirds

Only in a society dominated by Cultural Marxism and an undeclared psy war and race war against whites could this type of silliness take place. Young's opponents should have been laughing at him, his coach should have been in his face yelling at him, and his teammates should have been doing the same. How this society has enabled and even glorified dysfunction in the name of "diversity" and "multiculturalism."

Let's pass the hat around and see if we can come up with trillion or two and start a rival league.

Well, if I was a defensive player, I would sure want Young on the field. The Jags lost when Collins came in. He drove the Titans down the field while throwing for 65 yards, and they won the game.

So yeah, I can see any defense not wanting Young out of the game.

I'm not sure if you were joking or not, but I think your post has a large kernel of perception. I hadn't thought about it, but it makes complete sense that the Jaguar players would want him on the field for their own stat purposes. I suppose it is possible that a team, despite being made up of characters like the Jaguars, might have players with empathy trying to help that jerk, but Occam's Razor seems to favor your insight.

No, it would never happen to a white QB. Blacks may wear different colored uniforms, but they are always on the same team when it comes to basic issues. Every brother wants to see Vince Youngsucceed. They feel Michael Vick was taken down by the man, so they naturally rally around Young, who was to be his heir apparent. When Tommy Maddox was booedand belittled bySteelerfans, I'm sure he didn't get any encouragement from the opposition, whether white or black. The world doesn't work that way.

I told everyone who would listen including the moderator Don Wassall that Vince would be a bust this season. I don't mean to toot my own horn, but damn I'm smart. I also predicted that
Tavaris Jackson would suck and that fat ass Jamarcus Russell will be out of the leauge before his contract is up. It's time the media face facts blacks can't play quarterback as well as whites. This my friends is the only reason that I still watch the game. To watch Peyton Manning with no running game beat Tavaris The retard in a game where his running back ran for almost 160 yards was a thing of beauty to watch. That right their my freinds proves that the fix is in as far as teams wanting blacks to play quarterback why in the hell did Minnesota draft this complete an uttter bust at the position. The answer is clear the white man can't disparage and hate himself enough that he has to allow inferior athletes to dominate at most postions on the football feild. The white fan needs to wake up bfefore their are no whites left at all.

Yeah, and about 99% of this board said Young was a bust when he came into the league. Welcome aboard, White Power! Even if you're late to the party, you're still welcome to join the club~!
