USA Men's 22 Players Under New Coach Jurgen Klinsmann

They beat Canada 1-0. The only Canadian team to ever qualify for a World Cup in 1986 was almost all white - I think there was one black guy. In the other tournaments in the 80s and 90s when they were still white they at least came close to qualifying in 1990, 1994, and, I believe, 1998. For the last few World Cup cycles they've been at least 50% black and haven't even come close. They even lost their crucial qualifier 8-1 to Honduras last autumn! And now they've lost to a French Caribbean island colony/departemente.

Also, next to Freddy Adu Canadian captain Julian de Guzman (ex-Deportivo La Coruna) has to be the most overrated player in North American soccer history.

I could never understand why that wigger Kyle Beckerman keeps getting called up to the US National Team. Then today I found out he's Jewish. No explanation needed now.

Right now the U.S. is playing the same Mexican lineup against Belize in the first half and they are struggling to find a second goal. Watch Klinsmann bring on the white players for the 2nd half rescue.

Edit: Halftime score 3-1. Klinsmann is embarrassing the U.S. His short Mexican defender (clearly a direct descendant of Montezuma) couldn't mark his man and ended up giving a goal to a country with a population of 100,000.

It's been awesome to see some white attackers for the USA this tournament. BTW, I'm sure Torres is nearly all-white or close: his nickname over on big soccer forums is: Gringo. I also count Bedoya as white as well. Milan, when you were saying Mexican, I'm assuming you were refering to Orozco, Corona, and Rimando right? With of course Beckerman undeservedly starting too.

This team should have 8 whites starting hopefully, by our next game Saturday against Cuba. Corona sucks, and Shea or Bedoya could take his place, Wondo's proved that he's the No.1 striker over Herculez Gomez now I'd hope. Diskerud and Holden should have a grip on the two midfield spots. Of course, Donovan's spot is safe.

Well to be fair, today's match didn't really "prove" anything. Just like Spain playing Tahiti didn't really teach us anything about any particular player. But I agree with all your points. The 2nd half team today should be starting in the next game.

And I think its safe to say Beckerman will be saying Shalom to the national team from now on. He certainly played himself off the team in the last 2 matches. I'm sure he can find a nice career in banking one his soccer days are over.

If anything, this tournament further exposes how much better the Caucasian players on the U.S. team are. The cream will rise to the top by the end of this tournament and I fully expect Holden, Donovan, Diskerud, Torres, and Wondolowski to be definite inclusions on the real senior A team at the World Cup.

Thanks for the write-ups, men. That's odd, I forgot to tune in to this one. Hmm, it appears that ESPN has neglected to even mention the Gold Cup, being that they are not televising the games. Just something to think about when you read the next fawning op-ed over Klinsmann's multicultural medley or the next great non-white superstar. CBS Sports, never in short supply of offensive editorials, doesn't even have a soccer webpage.

An in-form Wondolowski should bump Terrence Boyd from the first team roster. Stuart Holden is looking like a starter again now that he's healthy, and Donovan's renewed place on the field seems inevitable. Diskerud should assume Danny Williams' jersey and ideally supplant Jermaine Jones down the road. That's a pretty ideal showing from the past two glorified scrimmages.

Europe, that post was about the United States in the Gold Cup. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear. I wouldn't have forgetten about Dempsey and Zusi. As for the whole national team, I hope Wondo will be the 2nd striker now after Altidore; there was an article on bleacher report that said Wondo may have a chance to supplant Jozy if he keeps his form up. I'm hoping these white players continue to shine in their games in the Gold Cup, I'd like to see as many of these guys as possible on the WC roster, hopefully taking off guys like Edgar Castillo, Joe Corona, Herculez Gomez, Maurice Edu, Terrance Boyd(like Phall mentioned), and (maybe) Eddie Johnson and of course, Klinnsmann's precious "German" players like Danny Williams and Timmy Chandler.

Hopefully, Stuart Holden can wrest Jermaine Jones' midfield spot away from him, and Donovan is shifted to the left side, leaving Zusi in the starting lineup.

My ideal USA "A" Team lineup would be

Howard/Guzan
F. Johnson Besler Cameron/Gonzalez Evans/Parkhurst/Cherundolo

Holden Bradley
Donovan Dempsey Zusi
Altidore/Wondolowski

This lineup, depending on how things go, may be have 10 whites, but I'm expecting around 7-8 white starters though. 9 would be awesome.

Well, the 3/4 of the US back line that's non-white combined in a great show of effort to give up a goal to Cuba, including Castillo getting out-paced on the flank, and then Onyewu getting torched yet again to give up a goal. 1-0 Cuba. Klinnmann's gotta stop playing with this Mexican lineup; Gomez and Corona have looked terrible, and (admittedly) Brek Shea's not looked good either.

Terrible goal conceded by a puzzling back line. Castillo and Onyewu were the guilty parties, outpaced and outmuscled by a pair of black Cuban amateurs. Well, Donovan leveled from the spot thanks to some of Cuba's own "horrible black defenders". Goodson, Diskerud, and McInerney substitutions would go a long way toward sealing this glorified exhibition.

I actually shut off the television as soon as I saw the starting lineup. There was no way I'm going to waste 45 minutes of my life watching garbage soccer.

But lets say, I'm not the least bit surprised at the big handicapped Nigerian giving up a goal. He's done that his whole career time and time again. He also only had 2 appearances for his club side this season. How can any player for a top 25 ranked national team make the selection while only making 2 club appearances. Then you have someone like Lichaj who started over 20 matches for Aston Villa.

Then you trot out the same garbage midfield that played poorly against Guatemala and Belize and then expect different results??

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. I think Klinsmann needs a psychological evaluation.

Onyewu nearly gave up a penalty, and it looks like he hurt himself on the play. Corona just scored a goal, so no matter how terrible he plays the rest of the tournament, he's probably a fixture on the "A" team now. Milan, that was probably a smart move; the first 45 minutes was really boring.

Diskerud for Holden, and Wondo replaces the ineffective Gomez.

Well, the game ended 4-1, with the Yanks coming out on top. Once again, as Milan said, Klinsmann came out with pretty much the same crappy lineup he did against Belize and Guatemala. The result? A 1-1 game at halftime. And once again, the white impact subs (this match, it was Wondo and Diskerud) came on and completely changed the game. Chris Wondolowski has been on FIRE. His last three games, he's bagged 6 goals, including two today. He's completely out performed Herculez Gomez, who's only scored 1 goal in that span, and Wondo should be pushing him out for that second striker spot on the US "A" team. Donovan looked great again today, as did Mix Diskerud, who's been rapidly playing himself on to the "A" team as well.

The US plays Costa Rica on Tuesday. Being somewhat of an optimist on this, I'm thinking Klinsmann was just experimenting around with these first two games, seeing which players would do good, and which players would not. With Costa Rica being miles ahead of Belize and Cuba, I'm hoping Jurgen's learned from these last two matches and will put the best XI on the field against Costa Rica. But knowing Klinsman, I wouldn't be shocked to see the same crappy, lineup out there again Tuesday night.

I agree, now, Europe. I think that Corona will start over Shea after the latter really dropped the ball yesterday in his chance to shine. He did next to nothing for about 35-40 minutes in the the 1st half, then was pulled at half time for Torres. Too bad Joshua Gatt had to get hurt. :sad:

They finished with the same number of White guys and Brek Shea scored the game winner as a substitution. The US ran a beautiful counter attack and Shea's goal was set up by a great pass from Donovan. Good win against a "real" opponent finally.

I watched the game over some internet feed and the gay British commentators spent almost as much time slamming Wondolowski as they did worshiping Eddie Johnson. Johnson will make the WC squad because he can play out of midfield as well. Not sure how that bodes for Brek Shea's roster spot, but he did play in a couple great balls. Wondo probably needs another goal out of these next two matches now to stay in the mix during qualifying. I still think it's Terrence Boyd that he's competing with for a team place, and Klinsmann loves his Blermans.

Landycakes was a terror out there today and, gay or not, will be a leading, white team fixture going forward. The only goal conceded to El Salvador came from a penalty after clumsy hip-check by DaMarcus Beasley, who was at that point the only black on the field for the US.
