The bottom line is Toby should, and most likely will go to the team that offers the best contract. There's no guarantee when it comes to playing time, no matter what an organization says. He needs to get paid, and hopefully the playing time will come.

Good point. Presumably the teams offering Toby the best contracts will be the ones with the greatest need at running back but it doesn't always work that way.

It will be very interesting to see what happens with Toby Gerhart in the offseason from a caste perspective.

News reports say Gerhart "tweaked" a hamstring at the end of the game. Did anyone watching that game see that?

So I'm trying to find updates on Toby and I find this article from yesterday that says Peterson has a chance to play in Week 15 while Gerhart might not. The anti-White :kev: "reporter" then completely gratuitously writes "Ugh - white running backs," which is highlighted and linked to the article written by one his fellow tribesmen about how CF is Richie Incognito's "favorite site."

Adrian Peterson Thinks Adrian Peterson Will Play Next Sunday [Update: Now Doubtful]; Toby Gerhart May Not

by Eric Goldschein

This is good news for people who love good news: Adrian Peterson, who was forced from yesterday’s game against the Ravens with a foot injury, says he expects to play next Sunday against the Eagles. Whether he actually will remains to be seen, but this doesn’t sound like a guy who’s ready to call it quits on the 2013 season.

Peterson had an MRI today that revealed no ligament damage, nor a Lisfranc injury — either of which would have ended his season. From ESPN:

X-rays also showed no broken bones in his foot, and while a CT scan will show the injury in more detail, Peterson said “we’re just going through the protocol,” and added he expects to play Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy owners of AD — literally the only people who have anything invested in Peterson continuing to play this year, since the 3-9-1 Vikings have been eliminated from the playoffs — aren’t out of the woods yet, as head coach Leslie Frazier may still choose to shut his feature back down.

UPDATE, 12/10: This is why Adrian Peterson doesn’t make these decisions: He’s now listed as doubtful for Week 15. According to ESPN’s Stephania Bell, feeling good in the first couple of days after spraining your foot is common — but trying to actually run or play is a problem. Don’t count on AD in your lineup.

Another fantasy injury update: Toby Gerhart, who was a popular waiver wire add this week, reportedly tweaked his hamstring after coming in to relieve Peterson and may not play (ugh — white running backs!). So if you were relying on the Vikings backfield to help you win your league this week, you’re probably some sort of screwed.

Yes, he did look just a little bit gimpy, but nothing particularly noteworthy at the time. "Day to day" is how I've seen most reports. I still think Peterson is going to play, but only time will tell.

I somehow missed the article saying Incognito and Cooper were Caste Football fans. Now I know what happens to Jewish kids who can't get into law school; they become sports "journalists".

So this guy's article had a link attached to the word "white running backs" to another writer's attempted hit piece article about Caste Football. LMAO. Great, hopefully he'll bring some more people to the site. I know my interest in white cornerbacks and running backs brought me to this site. I've never heard of the Sports Grid or any of its so-called writers, but they are obviously just another of thousands of sycophantic sites giving their rubber-stamp to the caste system.

The pushback in the comments section was awesome. Was it from CF'ers? If not then the white proles are getting restless. Must suck to write a column evoking nazi's, klansmen and White supremacists, and not get a bunch of high fives from your readers. One of them pointed out that the author wrote columns supporting jewish athletes but was getting down on Whites for supporting White athletes, ha ha kvetch about that one!

He also featured a tidbit from my 2010 write up on the Washington Redskins: "The Washington Blackskins ended their long Jason Campbell experiment to go in another direction – Donovan McNabb The Final Chapter. Rumor has it that the starting quarterback position in Washington is subjected to minority preference set-asides by federal regulations and has been mandated to be a “blacks-onlyâ€￾ position league-wide by 2015 per secret Executive Order signed by Barrack Obama."

HAHA still funny, especially with RG3 & 10, having a stranglehold on the position.

Most of the stuff he posted was by Paul Kersey whose Stuff Black People Don't Like website would most likely put him into seizure if CasteFootball is too much for him.

 It is indeed still funny.

That jewish blogger writes with such an arrogance, as if he has any authority in the sports world. Memo to nerd: publishing "articles" on a sports blog nobody's heard of does not make you Peter King, Bill Simmons, etc. It makes you some guy in his college dorm or mother's basement with too much free time.

As for SBPDL, that website gets infinity more views and comments than this blogger could ever dream. Note too that the articles by Kersey and the comments afterwards reflect a higher level of intellectual discourse. "Sports Grind" readers are more interested in "hot" athletes, "hot" cheerleaders, porn stars, Bill Cowher at the Victoria Secret show and other general "sports" gossip. These clowns need to GET REAL.

Getting injured when he could have started a game when Peterson was hurt, and now re-aggravating it isn't going to help Toby's already formidable uphill battle to be signed as a starting running back for next season:

Toby Gerhart aggravated his hamstring injury on the third play of Sunday's Week 16 loss at Cincy. Gerhart was trying to chase down Reggie Nelson after Matt Cassel's fumble and pulled up lame. It left Joe Banyard to play a feature back role after Adrian Peterson (foot, groin) was yanked.

Exactly. Even if Gerhart is in good health, it will be hard to find a team that would sign him to be their main RB for 2014.

Why should Toby play? To play in a pointless last game of the season? Too risky he's outta Minnesota after this year anyway. Play it smart and sit and enter free agency fresh and healthy. He's still young and has barely taken any big hits. He should be able to land a decent contract. 3years 8mil or so

It might hurt his chances if he doesn't. He shouldn't have come back this early anyway. Yea little wear and tear but he lost 4 of his prime years, he should have like 5k rushing by now. I don't think he is going to be traded somewhere to start. He ll have to split time with some no name back probably.

There are many fans in mn that want to trade ap and start Gerhart. Comment sections on Vikings blogs commonly remark how the offense runs better without the pressure of getting ap his touches. The fans In mn are actually pretty high on gerhart. The best case scenario is the Vikings trade ap and really would be a no brainier if you can get even somewhat decent draft picks. Good grief Trent Richardson was traded for a first rounder.

Vox Day quoted some Mn sports writer who suggested the Vikes do a reverse Hershel Walker trade with Peterson. IMO I don't think he could quite be the teammate that Emmit Smith was, and that is about how I would classify his contributions to a team. I think Peterson is more OJ like as in he is it even if the team is mediocre at best, but he gets records. (FTR I'm old and I watched the game where Simpson went to 2005 yds till his last run), what a mud pit he had to run in.

Just stumbled upon Toby's phantom fumble. One of the many plays that get called wrong on the field against our guys and then inexplicably called wrong on replay review. i was obvious in real time that both knees were down, but completely conclusion on replay. Freeze at 41 seconds - both knees are down well before the ball comes out which was just before his upper body contacts the ground.

While the Vikings would like nothing more than to re-sign current backup Toby Gerhart, you have to think that Gerhart would like to sign with a team that would provide him with more opportunities.

It was certainly a strange move when the Vikings, a team with the league's best running back, used a second-round pick on Gerhart in the 2010 draft. It was way too high a choice to use on a luxury pick, and that's all Gerhart has been in his four years with the team, a luxury.

Gerhart has proven himself to be capable almost every time he's been given a chance, but the truth is those chances come few and far between when you're on the same team as Peterson.

Gerhart has rushed the ball 276 times in his four seasons for 1,305 yards. As a comparison, Peterson had 279 attempts in 2013 for 1,266 yards. Washington's Alfred Morris finished with exactly 276 carries this season for 1,275 yards, good for fourth in the NFL.

All that said, it would be surprising if Gerhart didn't want to leave simply for professional reasons. He has the right to find out what he can do in this league as a starter. Some team will probably give him that opportunity, or at least the chance to fight for a starting job, something he won't get in Minnesota.

If Gerhart leaves, the Vikings will need to come up with a solid backup option to Peterson. Jordan Todman might be an interesting free agent to look at for Minnesota. He was impressive in Minnesota's 2012 training camp before being put on the practice squad and was eventually signed away by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Todman served as Maurice Jones-Drew's backup this season and had a 109 yards rushing in his only start. Todman is a smaller, quicker back and could be a nice receiving option on third downs. Obviously, with Peterson in tow, the Vikings don't need to spend a lot on a backup running back.

The Vikings will probably be lukewarm in free agency with both Matt Asiata and Zach Line on-hand to play backup roles.

If Gerhart signs with Indy, don't be surprised if Trent Richardson suddenly becomes a much better back because of a new-found "effort." But Toby is good enough to excel with any team that gives him a legit opportunity to start.

NFL Free Agency: RB Toby Gerhart Should Get Opportunity To Start Somewhere In 2014

Quick Trivia: Which player with at least 35 carries — small sample size, yes, but just humor me — owned the highest YPC average in the NFL over 2013? Rushing title winner LeSean McCoy? Not quite. Scrambling QB-extraordinaire Colin Kaepernick? Wrong again. Believe it or not, it was Minnesota Vikings‘ career backup Toby Gerhart, averaging 7.9 yards every time he touched the rock.

Wait, this can’t be right. The same Toby Gerhart who’s started six career games and never eclipsed 110 carries in a single season? The Gerhart analysts said wouldn’t succeed in the NFL because his “burst through the hole is just adequate” and he “doesn’t possess the speed scouts like to see for the next level”? Yes, one and the same.

With his season-long run coming on a 41-yard touchdown rumble in Week 14 against the Baltimore Ravens, Gerhart’s stats weren’t skewed by any uncharacteristically long runs that caused his final numbers to be misleading. No, Gerhart produced on a consistent basis throughout 2013.

With his name being thrown around as one of the top ten backs available in this year’s free agency pool, Gerhart’s chance to become more than simply Adrian Peterson‘s insurance plan is now or never. He’s compiled a fairly impressive resume during his tenure in Minnesota and would be an upgrade for several teams in the league.

Glancing at Gerhart’s season, it’s quite clear that he benefited from his status as Peterson’s change-of-pace back. Defenses routinely stacked the box with eight men when Peterson was on the field, but this was rarely the case for the former Stanford Cardinal back. Most played for the pass which provided him with more-than-desirable running room.

But, though his efficiency spiked in 2013, Gerhart has been an effective back since entering the league in 2010. He averages 4.7 YPC — Peterson averages 5.0 — with his best year coming in 2011. He started five game in lieu of the injured Peterson, finishing the year with over 500 rushing yards while gaining 4.9 yards per touch. It remains the sole look we’ve gotten at Gerhart as a potential starter thus far, and he appeared ready for the challenge.

Gerhart doesn’t possess any certain tool that separates him from the rest of the pack; he’s a hard-nosed, downhill runner with unremarkable speed. He’s simply a football player through and through. The former Heisman finalist is a difficult tackle, isn’t afraid of contact and has an outstanding nose for the first-down marker. So where does Gerhart have the best chance to succeed in 2014?

Likely with his former college teammate Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts, actually. With Donald Brown entering free agency and Trent Richardson clearly not the back we thought, Gerhart’s services could certainly be used for an Indy squad that’s on the verge of becoming elite. Finding himself on the better end of a timeshare with Richardson isn’t an unfathomable situation for Gerhart next season.

Indy is just a few pieces away from legitimate Super Bowl contenders now; they don’t have the luxury to groom a young back for the future. In the Colts’ pass-first offense, Gerhart will continue to find space between tackles and maintain the efficiency that he provided in Minnesota. Indianapolis desires a tough, vertical runner to complement Luck and the team’s pass attack while Gerhart is looking to play for a serious contender with a capable offensive line. It’s a match made in heaven.

Gerhart should be an inexpensive acquisition for whoever ends up with him — likely in the $1 million per year range. At the very least, he should fall into the backfield of a team that plans on utilizing him as more than just a reserve, possibly as part of the aforementioned timeshare. But if Gerhart does wind up with a job all to himself, expect him to become a borderline top-15 back for 2014.

Great article Don. Almost 5 yards per touch in his career. Fantastic numbers so far! I'm torn on this one. Part of me wants him to go to Indy and rejoin his friend/former teammate Andrew Luck. The other part so no. He needs to go to a team with no star running back. Richardson is far from a star but due to the size of his contract he will probably remain the starter. Gerhart needs to start now. If he is not a starter in the next few years then we know that he will never be one barring injuries to other guys. This decision of where to play is the most important one of his career. Let's hope he pics the right team!

yeah they paid way to much for Richardson to let him be a backup, they are going to try and get him the ball. Mark Ingram started looking average last year when there was great blocking, so there is a chance that Richardson might look decent or show flashes of being just good enough to justify giving the ball. That is how it is with Ingram even though they have better backs.

However, where is he going to go that doesn't have a "star" back? I mean fans think Bobby Rainey is a star based off a few games. The Jets are one option for no star backs but not in terms of him getting a fair shot. Oakland with Run DMC constantly injured but now people think Rashad Jennings is a top guy. Baltimore and Jaguars could use him because Rice and MJD have fallen off but fans would be outraged.

Id say Miami is the best bet. Would include Arizona but not sure what they paid Mendenhall and if they are hoping he has one more year in him even though he was terrible. He'd have to share carries with Andre Ellington but I think he is going to wind up sharing carries anyway. Atlanta might be an option, Steven Jackson has nothing left in the tank, but would hate to see him crank out one more year and deny a second White rb a chance, and besides Dolphins already use a White receiver , and outside one at that, so it would be cool to see a White rb as well and it would help out Tannehill, Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas aren't doing him any favors. He has to go to a team that sees him as a featured back, or at least a guy who could do an Alstott role (which is how Hillis got a chance for the Browns, was supposed to be hb/fb until an injury happened and then the other back was upset with splitting carries with a White back)

Reiterating what dwid said....I have seen where the Dolphins were one of the possible teams Gerhart could be playing on in 14'....this might be Gerhart's best bet... getting the opportunity as the "Feature"-back with Miller & Thomas as his back-ups. Gerhart could easily duplicate what Hillis did with the Browns in 2010....showing that a 1,000 yard season by a white RB in not an anomaly!

With another year of seasoning for Tannehill(who could easily be a Top 5 or 6 rushing QB in the NFL)...the Dolphins should make a run for the playoffs with a prolific ground game led by Gerhart. + another 1,000 yard season from Brian Hartline...could make the Dolphins a team to watch!

More speculation. . .

Gerhart should have free-agent suitors

by John Holler

A player the Vikings would like to keep is a player they traded up to get – even though it was clear he would only be a starter based on injury. It was akin to the Baltimore Orioles drafting a shortstop or the Packers drafting a quarterback during the Ripken/Favre eras, respectively.

Toby Gerhart will be a free agent and, seeing that he plays behind the NFL’s top running back, the Vikings aren’t going to pay market value to keep him. Given he had just 36 carries last season, teams that would be interested in Gerhart have to roll the dice on being a power back that could be part of a legitimate platoon situation.

If the Vikings can’t keep Gerhart, these are the teams that could make Gerhart a star. There are 12 teams likely to be in competition if the Vikings want to re-sign Gerhart at a hometown discount. All they need is one team to put a wrench in that plan.

1. Cleveland – The Browns made one of the smartest moves of 2013 by off-loading sloth-like RB Trent Richardson for a first-round pick. Gerhart could step in as Tommy Vardell 2.0.

2. Oakland – Darren McFadden (a.k.a. Limp DMC) and Rashad Jennings have longstanding injury histories and the Raiders have a penchant to offer a big contract on anticipation of big things. Going back to Cali sweetens the pot.

3. Arizona – Rashard Mendenhall led the Cards in rushing last year. Enough said.

4. Atlanta – The Falcons signed Steven Jackson last year to be a running option for a pass-first offense. He broke down and the rest was history. He fits what they envisioned Jackson to be.

5. Tennessee – Chris Johnson is due $8 million and, if the Titans make a business decision, Gerhart could step into training camp as the No. 1 back on the depth chart.

6. New England – He fits the bill of what Bill likes.

7. Miami – Daniel Thomas is a lost cause. The Dolphins can’t trust Lamar Miller. Opportunity is what makes a star and Miami has an opportunity waiting to happen.

8. NY Giants – With David Wilson a big question mark for 2014 and known fumbler Andre Brown a free agent, the old-school G-Men could give Gerhart a legitimate chance to be a workhorse.

9. Baltimore – Ray Rice’s future is in doubt for his production on the field and behavior off of it, and Ozzie Newsome is a solid talent evaluator. For the game the Ravens play, Gerhart could be a gift.

10. Cincinnati – BenJarvus Green-Ellis has been the featured power back the last two years, but Gerhart fills the Rudi Johnson role better than any free agent on the market. But he may not be willing to play second fiddle to Gio Bernard, who is the future in Cincy.

11. Jacksonville – Maurice Jones-Drew is a free agent, but any player willing to sign with the 2014 Jags is just in it for the money.

12. New York Jets – Chris Ivory isn’t an every-down back. Gerhart might fit in, but would be better with the Giants than the Jets.

With an average of less than three touches a game, Gerhart shouldn’t have a big market in front of him. But don’t be shocked if Gerhart gets an offer that blows the Vikings out of the water. Too many teams can use him and all you need are two teams to create a bidding war.

.....And he could have kept on going past 12. This article illustrates how pathetic all of the scrub black RBs are that are populating the leagues rosters. Although Toby is head and shoulders above all of the above-mentioned backs, many other ignored, blackballed white RBs are as well. But, don't forget the immortal words of Eric Dickerson, "This beez OUR pozishun!"

San Francisco should be added. Frank Gore has a lot of miles on him and a history of recurring injuries. Plus, Jim Harbaugh saw first hand how great Toby is - I would think he would be more willing than most coaches to allow him to be a feature back.

When I started reading this article I thought it was going to be fair all the way through, especially given its title, but the author threw a loop at the end by writing that he's "skeptical" Gerhart can be a legitimate starting back in the NFL. Toby's going to prove all the doubters and anti-White racists wrong if he gets a fair opportunity.

Toby Gerhart Will Finally Get Chance to Shine With Jacksonville Jaguars

Great news for Toby. The only thing I don't like is that he is going to one of the two worst teams in the nfl. It will be hard to rush for 1000 yards on that team but with hard work he can still accomplish this feat. The main thing is that he will become a household name now. It's still a crime that he wasted 4 of the best years of his life mostly riding the bench. If anyone was ever hungry as hell, it's Gerhart. He will shine in Jacksonville. Now if they could only get Johnny Football, this would be my favorite team. If not go get Tebow.
