If this situation isn't "fixed," then please provide an intelligent explanation. An NFL franchise, supposedly devoted to winning at all costs, and to putting the best product on the field, spends a high draft pick on the best college running back, when they already have a still young starter who is acclaimed as the best in the league.
So, the pick made no sense to begin with. Teams expect 2nd round draft choices to become starters. However, much as the Rams spent a high pick on Brian Leonard and the Chargers spent one on Hester, with neither EVER given a chance to start (or even really play much), the Vikings purposefully wasted a 2nd rounder on Gerhart, with no intent on ever giving him a chance to start.
That being said, I really thought the Vikings would at least throw Gerhart a few bones, then pounce on his first mistake as a reason to convert him to FB or just ignore him. However, obviously that isn't going to be the case.
First, the team announcss that AP will betting more touches, not less, now that the immortal Chester Taylor is gone. I thought the cover story/excuse for a team like the Vikings drafting Gerhart was that he would be able to spell AP and keep him fresh. Then, elephantine afflete Williams tries to injure him, and ridicules him afterwards Now Toby finds himself battling with someone who has no business being near an NFL roster for crumbs.
Can you imagine what an acclaimed, award winning black RB would do in a similar situation? Well, of course such a situation would never occur if the 2nd round pick was black. No team would "diss" a brother like that. And the obscenely obese turd Williams would never have attempted to injure him in practice.
If Gerhart isn't given a chance to run the ball in the NFL, we need to face reality and accept that, as long as the Caste System remains, no white running backs will be permitted.
