Charles Grant 2006 season, didnt get a ton of sacks but is a LDE and was good at "playing the run" and he got some pressure. Before 2007 season he demanded a raise because he has to "feed his kids" is what he said. So they signed him to a 7 year contract with 20 million guaranteed. His performance wasn't even that great, but it dropped off severely, but his weight ballooned.

feeding his children
this is a 4-3 DE, not a DT
thats a DT behind him, Brian Young, who is bigger?
here is a LDE
So the Charles Grant on the left side didn't quite work out, Will Smith demands a huge contract in the 2007 offseason even though his production dropped a little that year, maybe he just needed a big contract to be motivated?
"before 2008 season Saints defensive end WIll Smith on Wednesday agreed to a six-year, $70 million contract extension that makes him the third-highest paid end in the NFL, his agent said.
A league source said the contract includes $26 million in guaranteed money."

what a nice way of paying back the saints in hard work, both tested positive for starcaps, a drug to help lose weight. Charles Grant came in at over 290, and Will Smith close to 290 at 6'3
cant really find pictures of him in 2008 when he was even fatter
here is a RDE
I know there are bigger guys like Vanden Bosch and Jared Allen but you will notice that all of them still have their stomaches go inward from their shoulder pads.
Pay him more money already so he can feed his kids. He already had to eat two of them to keep them from starving.
I thought you guys were exaggerating when calling black linemen "Sumos". I was very wrong.
