More guys that declined after big pay days

Charles Grant 2006 season, didnt get a ton of sacks but is a LDE and was good at "playing the run" and he got some pressure. Before 2007 season he demanded a raise because he has to "feed his kids" is what he said. So they signed him to a 7 year contract with 20 million guaranteed. His performance wasn't even that great, but it dropped off severely, but his weight ballooned.

thats a DT behind him, Brian Young, who is bigger?

So the Charles Grant on the left side didn't quite work out, Will Smith demands a huge contract in the 2007 offseason even though his production dropped a little that year, maybe he just needed a big contract to be motivated?

"before 2008 season Saints defensive end WIll Smith on Wednesday agreed to a six-year, $70 million contract extension that makes him the third-highest paid end in the NFL, his agent said.

A league source said the contract includes $26 million in guaranteed money."

what a nice way of paying back the saints in hard work, both tested positive for starcaps, a drug to help lose weight. Charles Grant came in at over 290, and Will Smith close to 290 at 6'3

cant really find pictures of him in 2008 when he was even fatter

I know there are bigger guys like Vanden Bosch and Jared Allen but you will notice that all of them still have their stomaches go inward from their shoulder pads.

Pay him more money already so he can feed his kids. He already had to eat two of them to keep them from starving.

I thought you guys were exaggerating when calling black linemen "Sumos". I was very wrong.

I was watching the FOX business channel, and they said that Jacksonville is 15,000 tickets short of a sell-out!!

They mentioned that companies can't really buy that many tickets to ensure a sell-out. We'll see.

Do you mean companies are *prohibited* (by law or NFL regs) from buying that many tix?

FYI that Jags game did get blacked out per http://boards.radio-info.com/smf/index.php?topic=153133.0 .

John

I think the man meant that it wasn't feasible for a few companies to buy 15,000 tickets.

He said that if it was only 1,500 tickets, a company with an advertising stake in the game being aired, would step up to ensure a sell out.

Brilliantly conditioned afflete pulls his groin running away from two people outside his house:

Wilhite says he was hurt running away

New England Patriots cornerback Jonathan Wilhite told police that he pulled his groin Sunday morning while running away from two people in the parking lot at his residence, according to a statement released by the North Attleboro police department Tuesday.
Wilhite, who was not on the Patriots injury report last week, did not play in Sunday's 26-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick previously explained that Wilhite had a mishap Sunday morning, but did not elaborate.

In a conference call on Tuesday, Belichick was asked about Wilhite again. "Any personal situation, I'll keep internally," Belichick said. He also said he had no update on the player's condition.

On Tuesday, North Attleboro police detailed the situation in a written statement:

"On Sunday, September 27, 2009, the North Attleboro Police responded to the Cumberland Farms store in the Attleboro Falls area of town, after receiving a call from Jonathan Wilhite concerning suspicious activity. Mr. Wilhite stated that 2 subjects were in his parking lot when he arrived home, and one approached him on foot and yelled at him.

"Mr. Wilhite became concerned and ran to Cumberland Farms where he asked the clerk to call police. He did mention that he had pulled his groin while he was running. The matter remains under investigation by North Attleboro detectives."

Wilhite, a second-year player, appeared in all 16 games during his rookie season with the Patriots.

Speaking of injuries, alotta the "affletes" like to feign injuries when they get beat on a play (that's common in hoops as well).

Super-Jew Daniel Snyder's trillion dollar pig Albert Hanesworth was literally carted off the field against Detriot. He was writhing in pain...only to return in the second half. Dixie is correct, the constant faking of injuries for dramatics and attention is on the list of items which should annoy the living sh*t out of everyone watching, but doesnt even get mentioned.

If an announcer would ever question whether a black player might be embellishing the amount of pain he's actually in and it turned out to be one of the very rare cases where he actually does have a serious injury, it would mean his job. The networks lovethe theatricsas it gives them an easy excuse to cut tosome of the35 or 40 minutes of commercials that seemingly are aired every hour.

But that doesn't excuse the DWFs from being oblivious to the tiresome antics, as they seem to be to everything else we discuss here.

Here's another afflete (and a first round draft pick) who has zero appreciation for how lucky and privileged he is:

Mendenhall didn't know plays but wants 2nd chance

The running back was confused about his assignments and didn't appear to know his playbook, so he found himself on the bench. No carries, no yardage, no recognition.

Happens all the time in Pop Warner football, and high school ball, too. College football? Not so often. The NFL? C'mon, you've got to be kidding.
Rashard Mendenhall is the embarrassed exception.
One week after tearing off a 39-yard run against Chicago that demonstrated some of the ability that caused the Pittsburgh Steelers to make him a first-round draft pick last year, he didn't carry once against Cincinnati.

Coach Mike Tomlin denied him the ball, effectively saying that if Mendenhall played like he practiced, he didn't want to see what might happen in a game that counted.
Now, with Pittsburgh (1-2) facing a pivotal game Sunday against the San Diego Chargers (2-1), the Steelers want to see if Mendenhall is getting the message before they give him the ball. Even if Willie Parker's big toe injury might leave them with no other option other than Mendenhall and third-down back Mewelde Moore.

Good lord, has Mendenhall has sucked for the Steelers. But of course, he still has that "potential" to develop into an average back.

About the injuries, when a white player gets injured, if it isn't serious, he stays down for about a minute, then gets up, and is helped to the sidelines. Sometimes they stay down longer, but not usually.

When a black player gets hurt, he writhes in pain on the ground, only to get up under his own power, sometimes after a few minutes, or helped off and is in on the next series, or sometime later in the game.

Another exemplary superior athlete:

Redskins second-year TE Fred Davis is still "lost," according to beat reporter Jason Reid. Davis, who frequently "giggled" during team meetings and forgot plays in his rookie season, reportedly still hasn't earned the confidence of the coaching staff. He has just three catches for 10 yards through four games.

Of the 8 wide receivers drafted 10th in the first round since the AFL-NFL merger, only2 -- Al Toon and Herman Moore -- had careers befitting that high status and they were far from Hall of Famers. Ken Burrough was serviceable but only had one 1,000 yard season despite a career average of 16.9 yards per catch.

Michael Crabtree is the 9th receiver to be drafted 10th overall. So many highly drafted black receivers turn out to be disappointments and outright busts, but as always they quicklygo down the memory hole of the DWFs.

I just read this on a respected fantasy football site. Maybe they should have just strappedEddie Royalon a guerney after the second one and taken him to the hospital for an IV and round the clock attention. Have you ever read anything more ridiculous:

I know Eddie Royal came up small last week, but I think maybe those TWO returns for scores took a lot out of him in the game.

The stupidity of the DWF's is beyond belief. I was actually reading a post online about the lack of white runningbacks in the NFL. One of the DWF's wrote that "white guys are too frail to play runningback." Now that must be dumbest statement ever.

Notice that the media and DWFs never have anything nasty to say when black retreads and Junior Seau "come out of retirement" again and again. Junior Seau? Cut me a break. No team has wanted him for four or five years, yet the Patriots keep bringing him back because he's a "Bill Belichick guy". Just watched him on the mostly black NFL Network and the blonde female interviewer asked him why so many complained when Brett Favre came out of retirement but no one did when he did. He just said something about how much he loves New England and didn't want to play anywhere else, blah, blah.

Washed up players like Ahman Green, Jeremiah Trotter andvarious tub-o-lard o-linemen and d-linemen who have been out of the league for years are recycled back in and no one says anything. If "their" local team signed Jerry Porter or Reggie Williams tomorrow they'd be mostlythrilled. Matt Jones? A firestorm of criticism would erupt and every slight or imagined miscue committed byJones would be greatly magnified.

The DWF's feel that these affletes are the best available. You can't reason with most of them because they are too stupid and have been brainwashed. They would rather eat their salted snacks than talk about racial politics in the NFL. Alot of Jacksonville fans weren't too thrilled with the drafting of Matt Jones. His 65 catch season for 761 yards from last year has already been forgotten. He also only started 10 games and didn't play in several because of a suspension.

I'm not going to bag on Mr. Polynesian Senior Seau too much, he's been a great player in this league. But until I see him on the field, without a walker, I'll wonder why the Pats are resurrecting this old fossil when someone like Monty Beisel, who knows the system and is at least three steps quicker, is available.

Another silly blurb about a washed up black player, this time Ahman Green. Note Rotoworld's predictable pronouncement (based on what evidence?) that Green "can still play effectively":

Ahman Green says family problems are partly to blame for not living up to expectations in Houston the past two seasons. Green's relationship with his daughters was "on the rocks," and he also had to deal with the death of his father. He insists that lack of focus -- not age -- was the primary reason for his disappointing play. We beg to differ. Green can still play effectively, but he just can't stay healthy.

Maybe they can get fat Jerome Bettis out of retirement. I am sure a bunch of teams can use the obese afflete. Better yet maybe Maurice Clarett will win an appeal of his sentence and they can bring him back into the league even though he will run a 4.9.

I read that Green needs 46 yards to top Jim Taylor's Packer rushing record. Maybe that's why he was picked up.

Do you know how many losing seasons the Packers are gonna have to go through to get a black QB to break all of Favre's records?
