Way to go Joe!

I think he should retire now while he's on top. Ten year reign, undefeated record and wins over Hopkins and Jones...he has nothing left to prove or accomplish.

He needs to concentrate on training the next Joe Calzaghe or better yet the next TEN Joe Calzaghes.

46-0 is stunning.

Anyone who tries to discredit Joe now is simply a hater.

I see nothing wrong with Joe mocking Jones. Blacks do it all the time and nothing is said. When a white guy does it everyone gets offended. Please what a joke. Also this is unrelated but I caught an article on yahoo last week. Some of you also might have seen it. It was an article about Hopkins and a white fan. Yes some white kid who was about 18 and was a huge Hopkins fan. Supposedly he was dying of cancer and he wanted Hopkins to beat Calzaghe. Even though the racist Hopkins said "I'll never lose to a whiteboy," the kid stood behind Hopkins. His parents also stated that Hopkins won that fight. Hopkins hung out with the kid and let him drive his Bentley or something like that. This article literally made me sick to my stomach. The kid passed away several weeks after the Calzaghe fight.

This is harsh, and God be with that kids self hating family, but the world is better off with one less Hopkins supporting caste clown. His parents should be ashamed at themselves for saying B-Hop won that fight. Like whiteathlete33 said, this is the stuff that makes an honest man stomach sick. Edited by: P-NutLane

So Hopkins makes racist comments and what happens. A white kid who is dying of cancer asks to meet him. The parents are supportive of the racist. I guess what he said doesn't really matter. Personally I was extremely offended by Hopkins racist comments. If Joe had said, "I'll never lose to a black boy," his career would be over. Edited by: whiteathlete33

Way to go Joe, I so needed this victory with all the crap we have had to deal with this week in the nation. Awesome performance, don't retire.

Joe is the greatest fighter of his generation, and one of the best ever! For those who don't want him to retire, who do you want him to fight next?

Let me first say, that I'm not sure what I want. Right now, I can't think of anyone who can beat Joe. That being said, are there any fights out there bigger than Jones? I don't think so. I'm really undecided on whether I want Joe to retire, or keep fighting.

To me, there are only two opponents at Light Heavyweight for Joe: Chad Dawson and Glen Johnson. Dawson is the undefeated champ, Johnson beat Jones, and many feel he beat Dawson. Neither of these fights mean anything near as much as Hopkins and Jones, so they would both be steps down.

It's too bad James Toney is so fat. If he had the heart and desire for boxing that Jones and Hopkins have, he'd still be a Light Heavyweight. I'd like to see Joe fight him, that would have been a great 3rd fight for Joe, but Toney is so out of shape he could never make it back to 175.

Chad Dawson.

Jones is not that great nowadays.

I disagree. Johnson has lost too many times even if he was robbed. Chad Dawson was and is higher ranked than Jones.

Even if Toney was in shape, he is too old, same with Jones.

Everyone expected Joe to win, it's just that some Jones fans (like every black boxing fan) hoped Jones could pull off an upset.

Chad Dawson is way younger than Joe and higher ranked than Jones.

Amren,

Jones is definately past his prime, but most agree that this fight was the biggest left for Joe. I think Dawson would be a good fight for Joe, but in the end, people would discredit him by saying Dawson was unproven (like they did with Kessler and Lacy). In a way I would like to see Joe fight Dawson, taking out the current champ. However, there is something about beating legends, HOF's at the end of the career, that sticks in peoples minds. That's why I brought up Toney.

Edit: I should add too, that Joe himself is getting old and is past his best, which is a testament to how good he is/was. Edited by: Sean

Joe is getting old and although it probably looks better to the ignorant masses that Joe beat Jones, Dawson could probably beat Jones as well.

In fact, if Jones or BHop are looking for someone to fight, they should fight Dawson.

Beating Kessler is a bigger accomplishment than beating Jones.Edited by: Amren.com

I agree, Joe's best win is probably Kessler (but Hopkins could also be considered).

BHop beats Dawson pretty good in my opinion. Dawson beats Jones, but it's a closer and more competitive fight than Jones/Calzaghe was.

After thinking about it most of the day, I would like to see Joe fight Dawson. He's coming off a win over the best (well, 2nd best at that time) Supermiddleweight, two wins over Light Heavyweight legends, going out on top with a win over the current champ would be very impressive.

I don't know if this is allowed on here but here's a HD download full broadcast of Calzaghe-vs-Jones with entrances and post fight interviews http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XUKAO62V
It's a avi file so you might need to download the vlc player.

DWF's hate it whenfellow whites beatand humiliate their black heroes. Calzagheisresented by many of them for his accomplishments. They love showboating only when Negroesdo it. Joe will never get much respect from the fans anyway. I was checking out Eastside Boxing and looked at one of their polls. Where would JC rate as all time great? Top ten, top 50, top 100 etc. Most had him pegged at around 100,125, or 150. Pathetic. Only Blacks are great or very good.

I just don't understand this type of mind set. How can these people hate themselves so much? I just think about it like when I was a kid and there were bullies who tried to beat you down and make you feel bad about yourself. You either stood up and kicked some bully ass or quietly tried to go about your day and avoid bringing attention to yourself as much as possible, but nobody really enjoyed being bullied and told you were a geek, nerd, spaz, wimp etc. Nobody enjoyed being mocked and made to hate themselves. I just don't understand these people who have seemingly such low self esteem about themselves and their own people that they enjoy the anti-white pogroms in American sports and media.

Joe's taunting was purely used for psychological warfare. If he could take Jones out of his mind games he would have Jones where he wanted him. Jones was only dangerous when he was fresh anyway. Once he tried to take Joe out in the second and got no where he noticeably slowed in the third and was a spent force after that.

I was just on youtube and saw a comment about Calzaghe challenging Hopkins to a fight in 2000 with Hopkins backing out. Anyone know if there is any truth to this?
Yes Hopkins wanted boat load of money and didn't bargain in good faith. I think this was later about 2002(After the Trinidad win). He knew Joe was too much of risk unless the purse was extremely fat.

I have to admit, when Joe got knocked down in the first, my heart sank. And when Jones started showboating, I briefly thought it was over. Obviously, I forgot who Jones was dealing with

What a FANTASTIC fight after the first round. Watching Super Joe make a fool of Jones for the next 11 rounds put a smile on my face the size of Kansas. It's still there, in case you were wondering.

*Edit*
By the way, that thing Calzaghe did in round 2 where he put his face to RJJ's gloves, was the single greatest bit of showboating I have EVER seen. Edited by: ShowSomePride
