Angerer ended up with 21 combined tackles. That's not a typo. Yet Crissie could only mention Freeney and Mathis over and over again. I wonder if Indy had an all-White defense except for a linebacker, and that black linebacker made 21 tackles in the game. Would Crissie and Al have ignored him the way Angerer's great game was? And people wonder why there's a need for a site like this one. . .

Angerer was outstanding, making plays all over the field.

Collinsworth did seem a very intoxicated with Freeney and Mathis.

In the NFL, every game is important. Kevin Kolb losing to "T-Jack" hurts.. was a divisional game, too. Kevin Kolb will face the Giants' next week...

Buffalo's win was huge. They play the Bungles next, so a 4-0 start is realistic! Detroit's win was huge for them. Mike Wilbon must be squirming that Matthew Stafford is outperforming Josh "should have been the #1 pick" Freeman... of course, who won the Week 1 match-up between them? I rest my case!

Streep throat is a nasty illness and highly contagious. It's also very painful. Peyton throat is wreaked and probably taking narcotic pain killers. The antibiotics usually take 3 days to work.Bigunrealitis is what "some" say that every game in the NFL is fixed and the players including the White Stars are in on it. Some fake injuries and drop balls , etc. The end game, it's all scripted and the White must never out right dominate affelets for an extended period of time.

George Gipp died of strep throat, but that was in 1920.

More random rants:

Has any football player since George Gipp missed a game because of strep throat? Also, when was the last time a player showed up at a stadium for his game, and then left? This whole thing is very bizarre. If Hardesty's completely ordinary performance provides an inexplicable impetus to reduce Hillis's workload, then it becomes even more so.

How does Norv Turner keep his job? He is the worst football coach I've ever seen. Has any coach ever done less with more than he has with the Chargers? Despite his continued ineptness, the media will only praise him. The true measure of Rivers' greatness is the fact he has put up the kind of fantastic numbers he has, despite being shackled by his idiotic coach.

Then there is Todd "Psycho" Haley. What a chess match the Chargers-Chiefs game was today- what combined brain power patroling the sidelines! All I can say is- Charlie Weis must be the greatest offensive mind in football today, because with him this team had a dynamic offense, and Cassel looked really good. Since Weis left at the end of last season, they've been the worst team in the league and Cassel looks exactly like he did before Weis started tutoring him in New England- like the guy who backed up Matt Leinart in college.

All I can say is that fortunately things have worked out that even when the stuff we hope for, like Hillis and Woodhead producing big, other athletes step it up like Welker, Gronkowski, Angerer, and Casey and Co.

Also, when a huge performance doesn't come in from one of our running backs, let's remind ourselves and others that Matt Forte had 9 rushes for 2(!) yards, for a 0.2 per carry average!

Also we have to remember the dynamic doesn't really change each weak, this is a long battle to overcome but cracks are appearing like never before. The Patriots offense, despite losing today, shows that you can be highly "explosive" and successful in receiving with white receiving threats, just like Boise State in college. Gone are the days of the 1990s when people said the game was "changing" because athletic black WRs demonstrate that "speed kills," and that you would have to put up with loud-mouth, prima dona WRs like Chad Ochostinko and Terrell Owens.

The Patriots are setting the new template for what a successful offense should look like. Hopefully Woodhead gets back in more significantly in the running game to put the frosting on the cake.

Of the 30 completions for the Patriots, 27 where to white receivers (90%), and all 4 receiving touchdowns where by white receivers, as well as every last one of the 31 points scored.

Another good post, Electric Slide. Regarding your last paragraph, that was an impossibility from the late 1980s until last season and now this one. In the early '90s there were only one and two white starting WRs in the entire league (and very few backups even), and very few dynamic White TEs. The rise of Hillis and Woodhead last year (along with Kuhn, and Gerhart being drafted in the second round) was a big step forward, and now as you say, the template for a successful offense has been illustrated by the Patriots, Colts, Packers and Texans.

There will likely continue to be two or three steps backward for every two or three or four steps forward as the NFL will continue to resist the obvious for as long as possible, but the fact is the Caste System in the NFL isn't as monolithic as it used to be on offense. And there are more star White defensive players now than there has been for at least 25 or 30 years even though the overall number of White defensive starters remains pathetically low. I think it's a combination of determined White athletes perservering in the sport they love, a rapidly shrinking and increasingly dysfunctional black athletic pool, and slow yet undeniable awareness by fans and athletes of the Caste System.

Angerer now leads the entire league in tackles with 42 with Sean Witherspoon the next closest at 31.

Collinsworth was disgusting last night, even more than usual. He kept showing his man love to Harrison, Mathis and Freeney and I believe only gave Angerer props once on his spectacular tackle of Rashard Mendenhall.

I don't know, I guess I have a case of bigunrealitis this week - maybe that's what Hillis came down with too. I just see how near impossible it is for whites to earn a starting spot in forbidden positions. Right now the only starters I can think of in the RB and WR spot are Hillis and Welker. Eric Decker is starting because of injury and Amendola would be starting but is injured. That's it. Austin Collie was leading the league in receiving stats when he got injured last year and yet he has been beat out by the stone hands of Pierre Garcon. Jordy Nelson got plenty of targets week one and did well but now appears to have been leap-frogged on the depth chart by the whining of James Jones. The Packers as a whole are frustrating. After winning the superbowl they go from 25 whites down to 15? This can't be an accident can it? Danny Woodhead electrified the Patriots offense last year, but seems to have his role reduced. I know the Patriots just completed 27 of 30 to white receivers, but I bet 1/2 of those plays were intended for the washed-up Chad Johnson and Deon Branch. Why do the Patriots constantly get some guy to start in front of Julian Edelman anyway? When Welker got injured Edelman was the Patriots best receiver and showed flashes of brillant athletic ability. Now he is cemented as a permanent special teamer while the offense struggles to get Ochinstinko to catch a ball so he can feel good about himself.

Hillis and Welker might be tearing the field up, but so did Riggins and Largeant in the 80's and that was followed by complete black-out of almost 2 decades. I've gotta take some antibiotics.

Kevin Walter and Brian Hartline are starting receivers as well.

Was it really that bad with starting white receivers in the early 90's? I was only a kid then, so I didn't watch football or pay any attention to it. I'm guessing Ricky Proehl was the only starting white receiver. I know things got a bit better in the mid to late 90's with players like Chrebet, McCaffrey, and Keith Poole all being starters. Patrick Jeffers even started 10 games in 1999 and managed 1k yards on the season. My mind is blank right now but I'm sure there are at least a couple more white receivers who started during the mid to late 90's.

Overall, things are a bit less bleak now than they were ten years ago. However, I think that's what makes things like the Hillis situation so frustrating to me- no other RB who had a season like he did last year would be so doubted by everyone, and said to be so desperately in need of "help" in order to "lighten his heavy load" so he doesn't "wear down" again. All the fantasy sites are suggesting owners add Hardesty because he has "earned a bigger role" with his earth shattering 67 yard, zero TD effort yesterday. Yes, how can we deny such talent?

I will be anxious to hear any further details of exactly what transpired with Hillis yesterday, and what it was that caused him to report for work, and then apparently be turned away. I believe that is an unprecedented move, but then again a pro football player missing a game for strep throat (which he started treating two days prior to the game) is also unheard of. Let's just hope the DWFs don't abandon ship, and that he keeps the starting job. Again, can you imagine worrying about that if AP, Chris Johnson, Ray Rice, etc. were to miss a single game and the replacement turned in a thoroughly ordinary effort?

If Decker keeps starting, and Woodhead continues to have an uneven but productive role in the offense, and Jordy Nelson returns to the #2 WR spot that everyone except his coaching staff feels belongs to him, and Sanzenbacher is rewarded by keeping the slot receiver role when the pedestrian Bennett returns, and Collie continues to see multiple targets per game and Leonard gets 10-12 touches a game during Benson's suspension, then perhaps I'll truly start to believe that things are changing in the NFL, albeit ever so slowly.

Btw, there is another white starting WR in the league- Jereme Urban. You wouldn't know it, of course, because I don't think he has been targeted more than once or twice all season.

Urban´s situation is puzzling, at the very least. he was better off as a fourth receiver, at least he had some catches!

also, media raved about Meier and Cooper and they are nowhere to be found, 4th and 5th receiver at best...

Woodhead's situation doesn't bother me as much for a simple reason, it's Bill Belichick, who loves to have a stable of runningbacks and it's quite natural he gives his rook few carries to see what he's got. i'm sure there will be games where Danny gets a bulk of carries and more touches overall, but we can hardly complain when white guys get 30 receptions and even Edelman is used as a runningback!

Hillis' situation will be closely monitored by all on this site, in all fairness Hardesty needs to get 5 or 6 carries a game, simply to keep their STAR player fresh. look at all the runningbacks struggling this season: Chris Johnson, Benson and quite a few yesterday and last night. team stick with their guys and it pays off. plus Peyton is coming off a good game, even if his ypc was lower than we would have liked.

i'm hoping for Decker to keep improving and get entrenched as a starter and Collie needs to be included in the gameplan more. at this point i am not ashamed to say that if what it takes is an injury to Garçon or Wayne, so be it.

I don't recall a pro football player missing a game because of strep throat, either. Hillis' luck is changing, at least so far this season.

Some random observations from Patriots-Bills and Steelers-Colts…

Three games into the season, and the sensational Wes Welker has already amassed a staggering 31 catches, 458 yards, and 4 TDs. He’s averaging 15 yards per reception and he’s also produced one carry for 19 yards. “The Patriot Missile” will only need to average 42 receiving yards per game through the remaining 13 contests to achieve the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] 1000-yard season of his career. I’ve watched nearly every game of Wes Welker’s professional career (San Diego, Miami, New England), as well as many of his games as a junior and senior at Texas Tech. He’s never looked more explosive, more dynamic, more vicious, or more driven than he does right now. Remarkably, at thirty years old and with a major knee injury in his recent past…he’s only seems to be improving his already-colossal athleticism. I hope that the 2011-2012 season ends with Welker leading the NFL in all receiving categories. I believe his 217 yards is the highest total for a white athlete since Drew Bennett’s infamous December 2004 game against the Chiefs on Monday Night Football in which he amassed 233 yards...

6a0115709f071f970b014e8bd1acf5970d-400wi

Also, I found Chad Ochocinco’s atrocious 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] down, 4[SUP]th[/SUP] quarter drop of a long, picture-perfect (would-be touchdown) pass from Tom Brady to be a humorous microcosm of today’s NFL. Of course, on the very next play (4[SUP]th[/SUP] down), Wes Welker effortlessly leaped an incredible 38-40” (from standing still) to make an outstanding catch to prevent a costly turnover-on-downs during such a critical drive. The contrast was all too appropriate. Blacks are flashy, loud, and flamboyant, but prove to be of little value when it matters. Whites are humble, quiet, consistent, skillful, productive, extremely athletic (although they’re given no credit), and exceptionally clutch. Below is a photo taken one millisecond after Chaddy-Girl’s shameful “drop”…

018323_092511patsnl27.jpg

Another interesting development has been the atrocious play of Patriots’ “budding shut-down cornerback,” Devin McCourty. So far this season, he’s was utterly scorched by Brandon Marshall in Week 1, abused by Vincent Jackson in Week 2, and burned by Stevie Johnson (for a touchdown) and Donald Jones (critical 30-yard catch on the Bills’ final drive) in Week 3. McCourty is now playing the way the vast majority of NFL cornerbacks have been for twenty five long seasons, dreadfully poor….

devin-mccourty-smoked-by-steviejpg-56b7cb8587794e52.jpg

It isn’t merely McCourty who’s been appallingly bad…the Patriots’ secondary has given up 350+ passing yards in every game this season. Perhaps the quality of play would improve from its current form (that is, horrifically-bad) if white athletes weren’t entirely excommunicated from the position?

Unfortunately, during Sunday Night Football, it seems as if Christmas arrived early this year for Chris “Prince of Darkness” Collinsworth. His anti-white lusts were satiated. His jock-snorting fantasies came to full fruition. His Neo-Marxist “prophecies” actually occurred…and just the way he “predicted” they would. For nearly the entire game, his perpetually-celebrated idol, Troy Polamalu (Chris strictly referred to his crush as “The X Factor”), was having yet another lackluster performance, even against the Colts’ dreadful offense. Sometime in the second quarter, after a lame blitz by the Human Rat’s Nest, Collinsworth shrieked out: “The Colts had better be careful, or Troy Polamalu is soon gunna grab that football and run it straight into the endzone!” Miraculously, the midget-sized, Polynesian-Dingleberry later recovered a fumble caused by James Harrison and returned it for an easy touchdown…

[ESPN staff gleefully uncorks a bottle of expensive Champaign, as Troy-Boy will now be unanimously voted NFL Defensive MVP]

The Colts are frightfully terrible without Peyton Manning. Pierre Garcon’s humorous hands-o-brick produced yet another ridiculously-embarrassing drop, still he continues to start over Austin Collie and Blair White (who just returned from a back injury). What do the Colts have to lose in benching Kerry Collins in favor of Painter until Manning returns? While in Carolina, New Orleans, Oakland, New York, and Tennessee, Collins always proved his Jake Delhomme-Esque ineptitude eventually. Nothing has changed…accept that his atrocious play is now tremendously detrimental to the careers of Collie, White, and Clark.

Colin Cowturd was actually listenable today. He was ripping on Belichik for not drafting any defensive players with his early picks, most notably Ryan Kerrigan who he called a "beast". This is exactly how many here felt about the Patriots early draft picks. Instead of looking for replacements for the white offensive guys why not draft some defensive talent? The Patriots are horrid on defense.

Austin Collie was leading the league in receiving stats when he got injured last year and yet he has been beat out by the stone hands of Pierre Garcon. Jordy Nelson got plenty of targets week one and did well but now appears to have been leap-frogged on the depth chart by the whining of James Jones.

Wayne and Garcon started outside last year as well. Collie was and remains the third receiver but is on the field almost every play.

Jones still sees fewer snaps than Jordy. The problem in Green Bay is that only Jennings and TE Finley stay on the field every play, while Nelson, Driver, Jones and Cobb rotate in and out. Nelson sees the most snaps out of those four, but still misses a lot of plays rather than be used opposite Jennings as he should be.

And there are significantly more White receivers than there used to be; there's two Whites running the ball a lot, whereas there were none for 25 years except for Merrill Hoge's brief run 20 years ago; and there are more White defensive stars than there has been in decades. And several high-powered offenses are predominantly White. And the black QB threat has been successfully met and thwarted thus far by a non-ending stream of White talent at the position. I've been following the NFL closely for 30 years and there are definitely improvements the past couple of years, modest as they may be, but we should at least acknowledge them.

Yes, there are more white receivers and white RBs were nonexistant for decades. Matt Stafford is still another young QB who is playing well.

Close, Kevin Curtis had 3 tds 221 yards on 11 catches against the Lions in 2007.

James Casey out of nowhere with 5 catches for 126 yards. Welker and Gronkowski, unstoppable. If Welker plays 16 games, he will obliterate Marvin Harrison's single season reception record. Pat Angerer with 21 tackles in prime time.

The young black quarterbacks (Newton, Jackson, Freeman and Campbell) picked up some unimpressive wins, with each throwing for fewer than 200 yards. They needed it, because Vick and McNabb are failing epicly.

Steelers left tackle, Jonathan Scott, is the biggest stiff in the history of football. Of course, he was a number 1 draft pick with ideal long arms and athleticism to revolutionize the offensive tackle position. He got burned so many times that he had to fake an injury toward the end of the game just to get off the field. The Steelers best option is to bring back Flozell Adams?

Looking for a big game from Jason Witten tonight.

It was hard not to laugh when Crissie spewed forth that one. Why not Willie Roaf or Jonathan Ogden, or the much beloved Larry Allen?

Yes in the early 90's there were less White receivers and White tailbacks were virtually non-existant. Literally there was one every few years who was a pratice squad call up or a one year washout who never really was used as a tailback anyway.

"-Despite Hillis being out, backup rusher Montario Hardesty ran hard and showed his versatility in the West Coast offense. He carried the ball 14 times for 67 yards, averaging 4.8 yards per carry. He also caught three passes for 19 yards, including a pass for a first down on the game winning drive."

From a very pro-Browns website

That's as good as you can possibly make those numbers sound. So it seems the Browns fans are sold on Hardesty.
Of course DWF's are "sold" on Hardesty. Most DWF's are near-inextricably locked in to the black athletic superiority myth. So when Hardesty (or any afflete, take your pick) swaggers onto the field, to them, the black is the fastest, toughest, quickest, etc., while a guy like Hillis is a hard-working lunchpail type of player. Now, the DWFs may be fond of Hillis, since he looks like them, and plays hard, but underneath it all to them he's just another "slow stiff unathletic white guy" who will make them feel good until a "real" athlete, like Hardesty takes over the position.

I might be a bit harsh in my assessment, but I'll bet that I'm not too far off.

Don...I think there will be another wave of black quoatabacks like we saw in 1999. The spread in college has made it alot easier to play the position and it seems 30-40% of programs start a black QB unfortunately. Hopefully Newton cools off once teams get enough tape on him, but this is a copy cat league. DWFs are hyping guys like Griffin, Boyd, Logan Thomas and EJ Manuel. I do not think they will be successful but that doesn't mean that won't get more than their fair share of chances. I do however think there are enough talented white QBs coming up through the college ranks to fend off this next wave.

The reemergence (if you want to call it that) of white skill position players has been encouraging. Things have gotten better in the past 5 or so years. White TEs are again in abundance and showing their play making prowess.

Chris Cooley is officially a running back now, he crossed the threshold and got his first hand off. He also looks good as a running fullback type as he has lively legs...
