WWL.com Reporting The NFL says investigators have found that between 22 and 27 Saints defensive players participated in a "bounty program." Allegations include unofficial compensation for players whose hits led to opposing players being carted off or knocked out. The report at NFL.com says the findings have been corroborated by "multiple independent sources" and the findings have been presented to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. The Saints released the following statement from team owner Tom Benson: "I have been made aware of the NFL's findings relative to the 'Bounty Rule' and how it relates to our club. I have offered and the NFL has received our full cooperation in their investigation. While the findings may be troubling, we look forward to putting this behind us and winning more championships in the future for our fans." |
