Raiders wide receiver Michael Gallup retired yesterday at age 26. Hello Hunter Renfrow, where are you?

The shunning of Hunter Renfrow and Andy Isabella is especially head scratching as slot receiver had become a “whites allowed” position.

I think it is hard to understate the greatness of Tom Brady and his willingness to soar with white receivers. Rogers tried at time in Green Bay but didn’t put his foot down hard enough.

Top 10 "Edge Rushers" according to an NFL Survey

#1 Myles Garrett
#2 TJ Watt
#3 Micah Parsons
#4 Nick Bosa
#5 Maxx Crosby
#6 Aidan Hutchinson
#7 Danielle Hunter
#8 Josh Hines-Allen
#9 Trey Hendrickson
#10 Brian Burns

5 of the 10 are white & 4 of the Top 6!!

Not bad with a position that is 75-80% black!

And I would argue myles garrett at 1 is a joke. He is a one trick pony I would have him closer to 10 than 1

Garrett is a very good player but he is not better than Watt, Bosa or Crosby. I’d have him situated somewhere between 4-6 personally.

AGREED! & Warhawk too! Yeah TJ Watt was likely #1 before the injury....give me him over Garrett on my team any day!

Iowa in the Top 5 joining the Deep South!

The State of Vermont has NO Football team.

I was talking with my brother about whites being replaced in sports. He said he thought that the merger of the NFL and AFL was the beginning of whites being replaced in football. I had never considered that point before. This is the only chart I could find to show the shift in players starting in the 60s.

It coincides with the revolutionary changes in U.S. society that began following the JFK assassination and greatly accelerated late in that decade and haven't slowed down since, not with the NFL-AFL merger.

Cole Bishop has now joined Cooper DeJean in the "week to week" category. Not good, as an early injury is what wiped out Riley Moss's rookie year and put him behind the eight ball going into this year. Charlie Jones is another whose rookie season was derailed by injury and who now has more competition for WR playing time in '24 than he would have last year.

Sam Hubbard and Trey Hendricksen are both week to week as well. I always hate seeing important White players getting injured this early on. At least Ricky Pearsall is healthy now and practicing with the 49ers.

These trends were apart from the merger. Had the AFL and NFL stayed separate leagues it would have made no difference.

And Iowa has done that without the inherent bias of recruiting rankings. I looked up the 5* rankings over the past decade and after Texas at 1 it’s FL GA CA Al and LA. These southern states benefit from selection bias. And the class of 2025 5* has TX #1 and then GA #2 with FL and AL tied at 3. Apparently none of the great hs players in PA warrant a 5* and only 1 from OH which I assume is a black player

So after all the rule changes and dumbed down offenses to help out the black qb’s we find that qb play is overall worse now than before lmao. Funny how the last generation of white qb’s had no problem tearing up defenses into their late 30’s and 40’s but these guys today need even more rule changes!

It will be interesting if the Chargers continue to be a power running team for the whole season. Harbaugh's dedication to the running game is something that has been lost in football at all levels (his Michigan team won it's championship behind the running game). Maybe it's going to mark a shift back to the way the game used to be played. The spread shotgun formations that every team runs just make the game very vanilla.

Could be, but negro shenanigans are so numerous these days with social media to report on them I usually just skip thru them fast and rely on stereotypes such as him whining about about taking a lump or two versus cops busting down the wrong door, flash banging and then shooting you when you get out of bed or in bed for that matter. It always reminds me of America in the free days where my dad fought the entire sheriff's department half a small town's PD and then laughed about it for the lumps he took like a man and dished out (he could fight back in the day). I just can't do the finger waving old lady act in either direction cops or their antagonists. He should have tussled a bit took a lump or two then did an interview saying "I'm a nibba that takes and gives it" then move on in life and patch up some PR with the PD.

File this under "NFL Musings," as it's not really a news item but rather a narrative to keep an eye on. Mike Florio is a somewhat recognizable name in NFL journalism: I don't recognize what he's done, but I do recall the name, and he publishes directly for NBC. This week, he openly calls for future players to boycott the Carolina Panthers franchise until the owner David Tepper sells the team.

The next quarterback class should collectively refuse to play for David Tepper

Nearly eight years ago, 49ers CEO Jed York made a depressingly accurate comment about pro football.
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...-collectively-refuse-to-play-for-david-tepper
“I own this football team,” York said after firing his third coach in three years. “You don’t dismiss owners. I’m sorry but that’s the facts, and that’s the case. That’s the fact.”
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...-collectively-refuse-to-play-for-david-tepper
It’s a sad fact for fans of the most dysfunctional teams. Currently, the NFL’s most dysfunctional team is run by a drink-throwing, hat-removing, Veruca Salt multi-billionaire who thinks there’s a button he can press that will instantly turn his team from a train wreck into a contender.
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...-collectively-refuse-to-play-for-david-tepper
So, no, you don’t dismiss David Tepper. There’s nothing Panthers fans can do, short of launching a sustained, multi-year boycott creating sufficient financial pressure to get him to sell the team.
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...-collectively-refuse-to-play-for-david-tepper
Good luck with that. People don’t like to deprive themselves of things they like, even when that thing drives them to agony. Currently, Tepper’s team might drive its fans to something even worse than that — apathy.

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...-collectively-refuse-to-play-for-david-tepper
And with Tepper, who (in my opinion, based on the available evidence and the application of common sense) forced Bryce Young onto his last coaching staff before forcing the new coaching staff to bench him, firmly in control of the team and likely looking for another incoming rookie quarterback to fall in love with (before falling out of love with him), it’s high time for college players who are finally making money to prepare to take a stand.
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...-collectively-refuse-to-play-for-david-tepper
It happens rarely. It should happen often. For quarterbacks, that first team shapes much of the career. And that first team can ruin, or dramatically delay, the quarterback’s chance to realize his potential.
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...-collectively-refuse-to-play-for-david-tepper
Look at the Jets. From Geno Smith to Christian Hackenberg to Sam Darnold to Zach Wilson, they’ve ruined one rookie quarterback after another. The Panthers are on that same track.
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...-collectively-refuse-to-play-for-david-tepper
And the incoming quarterbacks have more power than ever before. Their money is the source of it. They have earned plenty. They have (or should have) banked a lot of it. They can make it clear to the Panthers, privately or if need be publicly, that they won’t sign a contract with the Panthers. That whoever is drafted by Tepper’s team will sit out for a year, live off his NIL money (and possibly earn more of it), and re-enter the draft the next time around.
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...-collectively-refuse-to-play-for-david-tepper
That’s how it works. If a player is drafted and doesn’t sign a contract, he re-enters the next draft. If he does it again, he can pick whichever team he wants after the next draft.
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...-collectively-refuse-to-play-for-david-tepper
The biggest challenge comes from the potential P.R. consequences. Media and fans have been so brainwashed about the honor and privilege of being drafted that few will acknowledge the very real difference between being drafted by the best organizations and the worst ones.
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...-collectively-refuse-to-play-for-david-tepper
Look at Patrick Mahomes. He could have been drafted by a team that might have made it harder for him to fully blossom and thrive (like, you know, the Jets). Instead, he fell to the bottom of the top 10, the Chiefs jumped up 18 spots to get him, and the rest is the history that we all continue to witness.
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...-collectively-refuse-to-play-for-david-tepper
At the other end of the spectrum, it’s the Jets and the Panthers. Quarterback whimperers, not whisperers. Teams that will keep Geno Smith from becoming Geno Smith and Sam Darnold from becoming Sam Darnold and, maybe, Zach Wilson from becoming Zach Wilson and Bryce Young from becoming Bryce Young.
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...-collectively-refuse-to-play-for-david-tepper
Many believe that the Texans would have taken Young if they’d had the first pick in the 2023 draft, which would have sent C.J. Stroud to the Panthers. Who’s to say that, if this had happened, Young would be doing fine and Stroud would have just gotten benched?
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...-collectively-refuse-to-play-for-david-tepper
Think back to 1999. If Akili Smith lands with the Eagles and Donovan McNabb goes to Cincinnati, maybe Smith ends up being a fringe Hall of Famer with Andy Reid, and McNabb starts 17 career regular-season games, winning only three.
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...-collectively-refuse-to-play-for-david-tepper
It’s high time for incoming quarterbacks to take a stand when it comes to being forced to play for an inept organization. And there’s always strength in numbers. The Panthers should be the first target for a collective “no thanks” by the top prospects.
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...-collectively-refuse-to-play-for-david-tepper
Panthers fans won’t like to hear that. But if Tepper can’t be fired or otherwise held accountable (short of something that would prompt the NFL to deploy Mary Jo White to Charlotte), something like an organized effort by the top quarterbacks to refuse to play for Tepper’s team could be the only thing to get him to shape up — or even better for Panthers fans sell out.

I think Florio has a cogent thought here; it's the first time I recall a "sanctioned" NFL journalist actively campaigning against an owner. Tepper seems to be a known jerk, but none of his "offenses" that have been made public are worthy of ousting him a la Donald Sterling of the LA Clippers. And now that it's morally right to pay football players to attend college, who's responsible for paying them while they boycott?

Eli Manning had a great career (and the Chargers did OK with Drew Brees), but I will always consider him a bitch for picking his franchise out of college. Eli's the only one I can recall pulling this stunt, and of course he didn't actually sit out a year - he was paid on scale as the #1 draft pick.

Anyway, my little working theory is that Tepper has pissed off the other owners, a la Dan Snyder, so this is just a slow flush down the toilet bowl for him. Florio likely received a little gift for spilling this opinion into the public sphere.

Reminder: the NFL owners can veto prospective owners, exactly as they did with Rush Limbaugh. No word on something like "racial prejudice" about that, though.

I agree. Maybe the cops did overreact but even if they did I can't muster up the energy to become offended on afflete Hill's behalf. He's living the life the 99% can only dream of; "victim" is not the word I'd use to describe him.

I'm no flag-waving "blue lives matter" fanboy, I despise police militarization and I want cops in White neighborhoods to behave like Sheriff Andy Taylor...but the key word is White. My guess is that the typical Miami street cop has dealt with enough high-testosterone young black males to realize that a different level of force is typically required with them than when pulling over some old White lady who did the slow and roll at the stop sign.
