The shunning of Hunter Renfrow and Andy Isabella is especially head scratching as slot receiver had become a “whites allowed” position.

I think it is hard to understate the greatness of Tom Brady and his willingness to soar with white receivers. Rogers tried at time in Green Bay but didn’t put his foot down hard enough.

Garrett is a very good player but he is not better than Watt, Bosa or Crosby. I’d have him situated somewhere between 4-6 personally.

It coincides with the revolutionary changes in U.S. society that began following the JFK assassination and greatly accelerated late in that decade and haven't slowed down since, not with the NFL-AFL merger.

Cole Bishop has now joined Cooper DeJean in the "week to week" category. Not good, as an early injury is what wiped out Riley Moss's rookie year and put him behind the eight ball going into this year. Charlie Jones is another whose rookie season was derailed by injury and who now has more competition for WR playing time in '24 than he would have last year.

Sam Hubbard and Trey Hendricksen are both week to week as well. I always hate seeing important White players getting injured this early on. At least Ricky Pearsall is healthy now and practicing with the 49ers.

These trends were apart from the merger. Had the AFL and NFL stayed separate leagues it would have made no difference.

And Iowa has done that without the inherent bias of recruiting rankings. I looked up the 5* rankings over the past decade and after Texas at 1 it’s FL GA CA Al and LA. These southern states benefit from selection bias. And the class of 2025 5* has TX #1 and then GA #2 with FL and AL tied at 3. Apparently none of the great hs players in PA warrant a 5* and only 1 from OH which I assume is a black player

It will be interesting if the Chargers continue to be a power running team for the whole season. Harbaugh's dedication to the running game is something that has been lost in football at all levels (his Michigan team won it's championship behind the running game). Maybe it's going to mark a shift back to the way the game used to be played. The spread shotgun formations that every team runs just make the game very vanilla.

Could be, but negro shenanigans are so numerous these days with social media to report on them I usually just skip thru them fast and rely on stereotypes such as him whining about about taking a lump or two versus cops busting down the wrong door, flash banging and then shooting you when you get out of bed or in bed for that matter. It always reminds me of America in the free days where my dad fought the entire sheriff's department half a small town's PD and then laughed about it for the lumps he took like a man and dished out (he could fight back in the day). I just can't do the finger waving old lady act in either direction cops or their antagonists. He should have tussled a bit took a lump or two then did an interview saying "I'm a nibba that takes and gives it" then move on in life and patch up some PR with the PD.

Mike Florio is a somewhat recognizable name in NFL journalism: I don't recognize what he's done, but I do recall the name, and he publishes directly for NBC. This week, he openly calls for future players to boycott the Carolina Panthers franchise until the owner David Tepper sells the team.

And with Tepper, who (in my opinion, based on the available evidence and the application of common sense) forced Bryce Young onto his last coaching staff before forcing the new coaching staff to bench him, firmly in control of the team and likely looking for another incoming rookie quarterback to fall in love with (before falling out of love with him), it’s high time for college players who are finally making money to prepare to take a stand.

Look at the Jets. From Geno Smith to Christian Hackenberg to Sam Darnold to Zach Wilson, they’ve ruined one rookie quarterback after another. The Panthers are on that same track.

And the incoming quarterbacks have more power than ever before. Their money is the source of it. They have earned plenty. They have (or should have) banked a lot of it. They can make it clear to the Panthers, privately or if need be publicly, that they won’t sign a contract with the Panthers. That whoever is drafted by Tepper’s team will sit out for a year, live off his NIL money (and possibly earn more of it), and re-enter the draft the next time around.

That’s how it works. If a player is drafted and doesn’t sign a contract, he re-enters the next draft. If he does it again, he can pick whichever team he wants after the next draft.

Look at Patrick Mahomes. He could have been drafted by a team that might have made it harder for him to fully blossom and thrive (like, you know, the Jets). Instead, he fell to the bottom of the top 10, the Chiefs jumped up 18 spots to get him, and the rest is the history that we all continue to witness.

At the other end of the spectrum, it’s the Jets and the Panthers. Quarterback whimperers, not whisperers. Teams that will keep Geno Smith from becoming Geno Smith and Sam Darnold from becoming Sam Darnold and, maybe, Zach Wilson from becoming Zach Wilson and Bryce Young from becoming Bryce Young.

Many believe that the Texans would have taken Young if they’d had the first pick in the 2023 draft, which would have sent C.J. Stroud to the Panthers. Who’s to say that, if this had happened, Young would be doing fine and Stroud would have just gotten benched?

It’s high time for incoming quarterbacks to take a stand when it comes to being forced to play for an inept organization. And there’s always strength in numbers. The Panthers should be the first target for a collective “no thanks” by the top prospects.

I agree. Maybe the cops did overreact but even if they did I can't muster up the energy to become offended on afflete Hill's behalf. He's living the life the 99% can only dream of; "victim" is not the word I'd use to describe him.

I'm no flag-waving "blue lives matter" fanboy, I despise police militarization and I want cops in White neighborhoods to behave like Sheriff Andy Taylor...but the key word is White. My guess is that the typical Miami street cop has dealt with enough high-testosterone young black males to realize that a different level of force is typically required with them than when pulling over some old White lady who did the slow and roll at the stop sign.
