49ers lose Mike McGlinchey for 4-6 week along with kyle juszczyk. They should all return with Joe Staley a little after the half way point of the season. The 49ers brought in a bunch of white FBs for workouts - George Aston, Tommy Bohanon, Michael Burton and Ripkowski. Aston and Ripkowski could be good alternatives - Aston was an underutilized weapon at Pitt and Ripkowski had success running the ball with Green Bay.

Raiders' Maxx Crosby Is Playing a Larger Role on Defense

by Doug Williams

Rookie defensive end has earned more playing time after terrific performances in victories over the Colts and Bears the past two weeks

During summer training camp, rookie defensive end Maxx Crosby had a starring role on HBO’s "Hard Knocks."

Now, five games into his first NFL season, Crosby is again in the spotlight for a Raiders defense that has made big strides in the team’s 3-2 start.

After missing action in exhibition games because of a broken hand, Crosby was healed in time for the team’s regular-season opener against the Broncos and has appeared in all five games. But it wasn’t until this past Sunday’s victory over the Bears in London that Crosby was able to really show what he’s capable of doing.

The former Eastern Michigan standout, taken in the fourth round of the draft, got extra playing time because of injuries and had his first pro sack and a tackle for loss, plus a quarterback hit in the Raiders’ 24-21 victory.

With starter Clelin Ferrell out with a concussion, Crosby played 57 snaps on defense.

Plus, Crosby was coming off a strong performance against the Colts the week before when he had two tackles, a quarterback hit and two deflected passes and a forced fumble. Head coach Jon Gruden wanted to step up his playing time.

"We didn’t want to take him out of the game," Gruden said after the victory over the Bears. "He’s playing special teams, too. … The guy’s factor grade at Indianapolis warranted more playing time.

"And he has, as you saw in training camp, he has incredible effort in his play. He just seems to never tire. He’s a fun guy to have. We have a lot of respect for what he’s done and a lot of goals for him to attain before he’s done playing here."

Crosby, who is 6-foot-5 and 255 pounds, was considered on the light side for his position coming out of college, but has quickness and high energy.

Now he has a chance to play a big role for the Raiders, who have a bye week and return to action on Sunday, Oct. 20 vs. the Packers.

Tweeted Crosby after the Bears game: "Just the start. … Crazy where hard work can take you."

Excellent to see Crosby playing early and often as a Rookie! Hoping for a big game against Green Bay!

happy to see the raiders unloaded scrawny WR JJ Nelson, yet another super hyped up smallish black speedster that the media fawns over. Nelson has had an underwhelming career which started as a 5th round draft pick for the cards in 2015.

In five seasons he caught 85 passes and never really had a break out season. Hopefully he is gone for good.

Other smallish overrated black speedsters I would like to be shown the door now include the Cowboy's Tavon Austin ( who is awful) and the Bengals John Ross. Both are banged up at the moment and both were very high first round draft picks that the media rubbed in our faces.

Good riddance each and everyone of them.

I have a hunch that the caste clown Howie Long tries to belittle Crosby, can't have a white DL diminish his accomplishments.

The media is salivating over Watson, Wilson and Mahomes in MVP race. No mention of CMAC at all who has been Carolina’s offense and big reason for their winning streak. Complete travesty imo.

What about Tom Brady the Goat? He is 5th in the nfl in total passing yards and having an incredible year on 1 of only 2 undefeated teams left. The Pats and the 49ers haven't lost a game yet. To do what Brady is doing at any age is incredible and he is 42 years of age! Tom Brady should be the front runner. You also have to have Garappolo and A.Rogers in this conversation along with Cmac!

Can't argue with that.

Snipped from cbssportsline article.

After the game, Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles said Allen presented their defense a bigger challenge in preparation than he would have facing Cam Newton.

"Todd Bowles told us in our pre-broadcast meeting that the Allen-QBed team presented more of a challenge to defend than the Week 2 Cam QBed team," NFL Network's Rich Eisen said, via Twitter. "Said, among other issues, Allen finds his outlets better. Also said with the Cam QBed team, he could focus his defense on the mesh point between Cam and McCaffrey because "85 percent of the offense" was centered right there. Not the case with Allen."

Evidence and proof the Panthers offense is better off with Kyle Allen at qb instead of sCam. Rivera insane if he goes back to Cammie.

This is good news for John Simon and Chase Winovich. The Patriots picking up the thuggish black supremacist Bennett was almost as bad as signing Antonio Brown.

Patriots suspended DE Michael Bennett one game for conduct detrimental to the team.
"On Friday, I had a philosophical disagreement with my position coach that has led to my suspension," Bennett said in a statement to ESPN. "I apologize to my teammates for any distraction this may have caused." Bennett has been upset with his playing time, as he's been on the field for just 130 snaps. That includes a season-low 11 in Week 6. He has still managed to register 2.5 sacks. It's possible his reinstatement will be followed by his release.

Some good news and bad news depending how you look at it. AJ Ouellette will be playing football as a running back again starting this weekend. The bad news is that is not in the racist nfl. The
good news is that he will still being playing pro ball as a rb in the CFL. Hope he can shine up north and maybe in a year or 2 get another chance to play down here.

Weenieworld calls Corbett a "mega-bust" after just one season whereas true mega-bust sumos still somehow routinely maintain their "upside" for half a decade and longer. Would love to see Corbett developed into a solid starting guard by the Rams, while the Browns continue to struggle with sumos on their o-line. The loss of Noteboom is a plus for LA.

Rams acquired OG Austin Corbett from the Browns in exchange for a 2021 fifth-round pick.
The No. 33 overall pick of last year's draft, Corbett has been a mega-bust to this point, making one career start and failing to get onto the field for the OL-desperate Browns. One of the only teams with as bad, if not bigger, OL issues is the Rams. Los Angeles lost LG Joseph Noteboom for the season in Week 6 with a torn ACL. Corbett might not immediately slide in as the replacement, but if the Rams had better in-house options, Noteboom probably wouldn't have been starting to begin with, as he was atrocious before the injury. This is sort of a "deck chairs on the Titanic" reshuffling for two teams with awful blocking. Working in Corbett's favor is the fact that he's still only 24 and heading to one of the league's best coaching staffs.

Rams also traded away Marcus Peters and in exchange got ILB Kenny Young, I hope that isn't and indictment on Hager/Reeder that would result in less playing time

Tannehill will finaly get his chance to lead the Titans. I hope he does good because Mariota is just horrible.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/27855771/source-titans-going-ryan-tannehill-marcus-mariota-qb

Hopefully this spells the end of Mariota as a starting QB in the league. I do not dislike Mariota the person however the poly hype bestowed on him by the media was enough to dislike him as a quarterback. I do think Mariota is better than Winston but Winston has been given one of the longest leashes by Arians that I can recall. The Buccaneers have a backup QB who has never thrown a regular season pass backing up Anus (Gabbert is on IR).

We can only hope his release is eminent.

If they flush this turd, the Patriots would be rounding into form as CF’s favorite again. Brady, Edelman, Burkhead, Izzo / LaCosse & Gunner O on offense with Simon & Winovich featured on defense is arguably as good as last year’s team from a rooting perspective.

Saints sign Zack Zenner.
I am not really surprised. With the open mind Sean Payton has used Taysom Hill in his gameplans it could end up a good fit for Zenner. Now if only Kamara and Murray were out of the picture.

Kamara is iffy for this week's game with a high ankle sprain and this signing may indicate he likely won't play so Zach may get some immediate work. But I'm always "from Missouri" when it comes to Payton in spite of his slight use of Taysom Hill as he's screwed over so many talented White receivers over the years that I lost count long ago.

Mixed feelings about this as Kamara is one of the best in the game and still hasn't done much running the ball. Sewerwater doesn't throw it down the field at all, which makes it tough for ZZ. On the positive side, he should get a lot of check down passes if he gets in at least.

While I applaud Sean Payton for becoming a little less caste over the years with their draft picks and of course Taysom Hill I too am still leery of him due to his long history and his allergy to white wide receivers. And so often his white draft picks don't see the field much. By the way LB AJ Klein is having a great year. Another terrific white linebacker who is under the media radar.

But yes Taysom Hill is still sort of used as a bit player circus act with a few touches a game. I would like to see that number go up. But Hill is one of my favorite players nonetheless.

Well now that Jordy Nelson has retired I have to fill the void and decide who is my favorite current NFL player?

Pretty easy. Carolina LB Luke Kuechly. One of the greatest linebackers I have ever seen play in the NFL. Just love the way he plays football.

Aside from Murray and Kamara, Zenner is also presumably stuck behind Dwayne Washington, a scrub who frequently stole snaps from him in Detroit. Washington hasn’t received a carry in NO this season, so perhaps they don’t believe in him.

I’m just glad to see Zenner on a roster.

As if things weren't stacked against him enough, they play against the Bears. It might as well be the 1985 Bears on defense out there. Best case scenario one of the above mentioned upsider’s get dinged up late and ZZ makes the best of his fresh late game opportunities. This is not the week to get 20 + touches.

The Mighty Whities are psyched! Hope he shows up on the fantasy roster.
I really hope he has an impact and has a significant role with the Saints going forward.
