Don't disagree at all with how able White runners are, I'm the last person who's going to disagree, but Alstott and Hoge weren't featured backs though they should have been, especially Alstott. Alstott would have been a cinch Hall of Famer if he had been the main man. For the record it's important for those trying to learn about the Caste System to make clear that neither Alstott and Hoge were featured runners.
Another back I and others have mentioned is Rob Konrad, an incredible combination of size, speed and elusiveness who was drafted in the second round by Jimmy Johnson when he coached the Dolphins and was given the Moose Johnston treatment. Konrad was so good that Syracuse gave him Jim Brown's hallowed number 44 in order to recruit him, and though he wasn't allowed to be the featured back even for Syracuse, he handled the ball enough to show that he would have been an effortless All Pro in the NFL. But he and so many others have been screwed big time. At least we got to enjoy Alstott despite playing second fiddle to Dunn most of the time -- Dunn rushed for over 1,000 yards five times, Alstott none -- and Hillis for one season.
