NFL Draft Busts

I figured at the time he was way overdrafted:

Just 15 of Tavon Austin's 181 career receptions have travelled more than 15 yards in the air. In other words, if you were trying to engineer a reverse-DeSean Jackson, Austin would be your man. It's D-Jax news Rams coach Sean McVay wants Austin to be more like in 2017, but it's a pipe dream. The supposed big-play threat has averaged 9.1 yards per catch for his career, which would have ranked eighth amongst running backs last season. His 2016 mark of 8.8 was third-to-last amongst wide receivers. Jackson averaged literally twice as many yards per catch. Part of it has been Austin's usage, but the odds of him suddenly developing into a viable deep threat in Year Five of his NFL career are close to zero.

Austin was one of those combine 40 yard dash warriors who the NFL people couldn't get enough of until he stalled in the NFL despite all sorts of ways to get him the ball in space. They centered game plans around this undersized mite to no avail as it became apparent he was no deep threat and offered very little apart from "potential and hype."He was also one of the Rams who demonstrated "hands up don't shoot" before a game in 2014 which makes him a genuine turd. Bengals beware!! John Ross another "speedster" might just flop like Austin.

Stephen Hill and Darrius Heyward Bey are two other highly touted speedsters who never could do anything but run in a straight line. Heyward Bey is still in the league as a fourth or fifth receiver for the Crawfords, hardly what Al Davis envisioned for him when he took him in the first round. I never played wide receiver in high school or college, but how difficult can it be to learn a basic route tree? Lack of mental capacity seems to be the common (unspoken) denominator with so many of the busts who never realize their "upside." That and laziness and selfishness.

Weenieworld still claiming this bum still retains "mouth watering upside" :loel:

Steelers released TE Ladarius Green. Green was cut loose with the "failed physical" designation. Signed to a "four-year, $20 million" contract last March, Green was already out of guaranteed money. He was limited to six games as he battled through head and ankle issues last season. Yet to be cleared from the league's concussion protocol, Green has been dogged by retirement rumors since last summer. Turning 27 later this month, Green has always possessed mouthwatering upside, but was blocked by Antonio Gates in San Diego and his health in Pittsburgh. His NFL future is unclear. The Steelers are moving forward with Jesse James, Xavier Grimble and David Johnson at tight end.

Notice the use of the word "mouthwatering" to describe this player's alleged upside. That's a peculiar word to use. What, does the author want to eat him?

I think we can officially declare Robert Griffin, RGIII, a bust. The Redskins traded three firsts and a second for him so he really set the franchise back. Now he's out of the NFL.

The hype he received before the draft and during his career was over the top. He didn't deserve the hype.

Meanwhile, Kirk Cousins, a franchise quarterback the Redskins drafted the same year as Griffin, received a lot of unwarranted criticism in his early years in the league.

Griffin was heavily praised while Cousins was heavily criticized. Griffin is black while Cousins is white. Griffin is a bust while Cousins is a franchise quarterback. Lurkers, think about the double standard.

Not only that. Cousins in his first two seasons as the Redskins starter set the record each season for most passing yards by a Redskin quarterback. This was with marginal talent all around him. And the team went from 3-13 before his first yesr as a starter to 9-8, 8-7-1, and 7-9 during his three years as a starter. There was an article this week in the NWO Daily, Washington DC Edition (i.e. Washington Post) that from a statistical perspective, over the past three seasons, Cousins has been the 7th best QB in the league. Again, that is with a marginal supporting cast. Yet the Redskins are most likely going to lose this very good QB in the offseason to a team that actually has an intelligent front office that can recognize a rare talent when they see one.

Bronco's 3rd-round 2017 pick, WR Carlos Henderson, arrested for marijuana possession in Louisiana.

A search allegedly recovered pieces of marijuana near the passenger seat, as well as a partially-filled water bottle with an extinguished marijuana cigar inside, according to a KNOE.com report.

When officers found "thick green residue" in Henderson's mouth, he denied eating any marijuana before the traffic stop, but did admit to smoking earlier Sunday. After he was arrested on the marijuana possession charge at 12:55 p.m. Sunday, he was quickly bonded out of jail.

The Broncos selected Henderson in the third round of the last year’s 2017 NFL Draft after his sensational junior season at Louisiana Tech in which he had 82 receptions for 1,535 yards and 19 touchdowns.

But Henderson struggled through the Broncos’ OTAs and training camp, then muffed two kickoff returns in the preseason opener against the Chicago Bears. He did suffer a thumb injury that required surgery in that game but rather than wait for his return, the Broncos decided to put him on a season-ending injured reserve.

Seahawks handing out jobs to a couple of huge busts: They are keeping mega bust DE Dion Jordan (2013 3rd overall pick with 7 sacks)who Plantation Pete singled out as someone that is going to make a big impact for them and just signed Barkevious Mingo ( 2013 6th overall pick with 9 career sacks). But the "best players play".

Dion Jordan LOL. Oh man don't get me started on him. What kind of idiot trades up to pick #3 in the draft for a guy that wasn't even a full time starter and didn't even have an actual position? Thank God Clueless Joe Philbin is no longer a head coach and Jeff Ireland is no longer a GM (he has some minor role with the Saints organization now I believe) It still pisses me off to this day that the Dolphins didn't draft Lane Johnson with that pick.

Raiders signed CB Senquez Golson.

A 2015 second-round pick, Golson never lived up to his draft status in Pittsburgh, failing to appear in any games. He spent last season on Tampa's practice squad. Golson is another flyer to a secondary that's lost T.J. Carrie, Sean Smith and David Amerson.

Senquez?:afro: tyical negro name given by his single mother, who was abandoned by the negro father, for the sole reason, that it sounds cool. :bash: Yet, Senquez will mount Golson the II on his jersey, without knowing his father. Unreal

It's time to play predict-a-bust. Who will the busts be in the 2020 NFL Draft?

QB Jalen Hurts is being hyped by the media as a potential high pick. If he is drafted high I predict he will end up being a bust.

Whether they're bust or not is not the point. The point is to keep the top draft picks for the blacks.

Kirk Cousins is one of the best quarterbacks in the league. Yet the mainstream media and the DWFs of Minnesota still act as if he's a horrible liability.

The DWFs in Minnesota can't wait to get rid of Cousins, who is a franchise quarterback. They don't want a white quarterback no matter how good he is.

Yea I remember getting a ton of **** on YouTube comparing the two with clips of their first starts. It was obvious RGIII was all gimmick and Cousins was the better qb.

I just went back to the video to see if anybody was eating crow. There are a few positive comments but lots of delusional people. Saying " well oh it's not fair to compare the two starts because Kirk cousins is playing the Browns and Robert Griffin is playing a Super bowl caliber defense in the New Orleans Saints. "

I don't remember the Saints defense being very good that year and it was 3 years removed from the Super bowl but just to make sure I looked it up:
"The 2012 New Orleans Saints defense set the NFL record for most yards allowed in a single season—and broke the bank in the process"

Browns defense was middle of the pack.
That first game was RGIIIs best performance. Not only did the Saints defense suck they were unprepared for the type of offense. As time went on his performance declined
Yet these people still declare that if it weren't for injuries he'd still be good lol. Not to mention Kirk cousins has improved a lot since then but in their minds somehow RGIII is still a legend.

It will be interesting to see what players bust out of the 2021 draft.

Trey Lance looks like a prime candidate. He has limited experience. His scouting reports indicate he's not particularly accurate. That doesn't sound very promising.

He doesn't even have 1000 career yards after 5 seasons in the league.

Free agent WR Laquon Treadwell is trying out for the Jaguars.

The former Vikings first-round draft pick posted a meager 701 yards on 65 receptions during four years in Minnesota before the team opted not to re-sign him. He landed in Atlanta last year, where he had six grabs on seven targets, including two TDs. Treadwell would be nothing more than a depth signing for Jacksonville, whose receiver room will be led by DJ Chark, Laviska Shenault, and Marvin Jones.

He literally could not catch the ball in the couple of games I watched them try and force it to him. Did he catch the ball in college or did he do the usual highlight catches that gives the donut eating coaches the thrills?
