Detroit RB Kevin Jones is now expected to miss half of the 2007 season, making running back the top of the list for Detroits needs. They plan on looking at San Diego RB Michael Turner and Arizonas Marcel Shipp.

Lumsden needs to take one more shot at the NFL - in Detroit. Doesnt he have a website or something we could contact him?

They'll draft some no talent negro runner with the No. 2 or 2nd round pick.

Martz love the back who have great hands. Leonard would not have amazing season for rushing yards(faulk never have more than 1382yards) but he will have severals season of 2000yards combined!

Lions will never draft Leonard with their first couple of picks, they have had too many recent bombs to gamble on a white running back. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN.

Now if he falls farther, then maybe, cause the current fullback Cory Schleschinger would be a retard to return to the team after his poor treatment last year, but you never know.

Lumsden needs to stay in the CFL for a couple of years to really establish himself to show what he can do at the pro level then take one more shot because right now he is just a faceless white Canadian who might be injury prone.

Count me in on the bandwagon. . .The 'Lions" will become the NFL's WHITEST team.haha.

I hope the lions acquire Joe Thomas, that will be a start. But i agree w/ other posters that leonard is a longshot for the lions ( but they do hold the minor distinction of at least drafting Luke Staley and Bill Belicheck's Dad like in 1960 at the fullback position).

If Detroit was to become the whitest team in the NFL, and especially with a white RB and starting white WR, wouldn't that be the picture of irony? Bombed out, crime ridden, black run New Fallujah home to the whitest team in the country!

Actually, Colonel, that kind of irony has alreay struck in the Motor City of Detroit. If you ever watch a Red Wings game on t.v., you'll notice the phrase "HOCKEYTOWN" painted into center ice at the Joe Louis Arena. I mean, come on, the blackest, most crime ridden city in the country is called "HOCKEYTOWN"? I thought I died and pissed my pants the first time I saw it.

With all due respect Col. Reb. this area (Detroit)is really "old" Fallujah.

Once in a while, i joke around w/ people and say if i was an "OWNER"I would draft exclusively WHITE, and i always try to persuade naysayers we would winthe Championship.they usually awkwardly laugh than think about it.

East European, I guess if you think about the timeline of Detroit's fall, it would be older than our understanding of Fallujah. A better idea would be to rename Fallujah to New Detroit. Since we have had Fallujah as an example of anarchy, and discounting the chronological aspect, New Fallujah fits Detroit pretty well. Maybe the best way would be to call Detroit New Phnom Penh or New Constantinople.

Might as well bomb both of those Fallujahs. But then a lot of those inhabitants would have to go somewhere, think of Houston post-katrina.

little sidebar- i believe this is 99% correct, Matt Millen has a son at West Point! So what gives w/ all those caste system draft picks. Makes one wonder?

it appears that Jesse Lumsden is poised to have a big year in Canada, barring something unexpeceted of course. here are some blurbs from training camp and the pre-season, which havejust finished up...

Taaffe said he is leaning toward giving Burlington-raised back Lumsden the start at tailback in Cowtown.

"We'll continue through the week but right now it looks like Jesse. I thought he had a dominating performance in a limited amount of time he played the other night. But he made a lot of that yardage after contact and I thought he played exceptionally well," Taaffe said.

Lumsden rushed seven times for 44 yards and added a 13-yard reception in the Ticats' 24-20 win Friday night. Lumsden admits his solid performance leaves him with more confidence heading into the regular season.

"I do. And just getting back from the virus I'm pretty happy with the way I performed."

A stomach virus saw Lumsden drop about 15 pounds earlier this month.

So far, new Tabbies head coach Charlie Taafe has been impressed with Lumsden's versatility.

"I knew that he could do a lot of things, but I didn't know how good his hands were," Taafe said.

"Don't let that pretty boy face fool you," Ticats quarterback candidate Timmy Chang said. "He brings power and speed and he will run you over."

For the first time in three years, the Ticats will have former McMaster star Jesse Lumsden for an entire season. The 6-foot-2, 226-pound running back from Burlington, Ont., returned to Hamilton at midseason the previous two years after being cut by a National Football League team. (added by me: Lumsden was jerked around in training camps by both Seattle and Washington the past two years.)

Having Lumsden from the start will be of benefit to both the Ticats and the player, Desjardins said.

"With a whole new staff everyone's learning from scratch and he's able to learn with everyone else instead of coming in two-thirds through the season and having to pick it up quickly," Desjardins said. "I expect him to have a very good year and I know he expects it, too."

Jesse will be the face of the franchise from this year on. I also beleive he'll become the face of the CFL. He's got that kind of ability and charisma.

WhiteCB: He is playing for his hometown Hamilton Tiger Cats. He played in college for McMaster University in Hamilton Ontario and was named Canada's best college running back. I'm going to go and try to see him play this year in the CFL. I'm excited: My prediction is that he will finish second in the league in rushing this year and first next year and for years to come.Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

Jesse ran the ball only 9 times for 48 yards but caught 9 balls for 78 yards with no TDs yesterday in the 37-9 lost of the ti-cats.
By comparison, Calgary running back Joffrey Reynolds ran the ball 13 times for 93 and 1 touchdown and caught the ball 3 times for 23 yards.

It amazes me how poorly used Lumsden was. Really they could use him similar to an NFL back and throw as the second option. It's going to be a long year for the tabbies...

I've watched the last two Ti-Cat games on MSG. The Ti-Cats are probably the worst team I have ever seen on television. You really have to see it to believe it. Lumsden is by far the most talented football player on the team. He really should be playing on both sides of the ball. Anyway, the CFL isn't really a running back league. Most of the plays from scrimmage are passes due to there only being three downs. So you don't really get to see Lumsden carry the ball much.

The most insane thing is that they won't let Lumsden carry the ball to the outside. They put in this black guy, who isn't all that fast, get set in the I formation w/ Lumsden @ FB, and sweep or counter to the outside. When the Ti-Cats get in the I formation, the other team knows exactly what's coming. The element of surprise is eliminated simply for caste purposes. The commentators tried to explain this away by calling it a "1,2 punch" with Lumsden between the tackles and the black guy running to the outside. Whatever! Lumsden just gained 17 yards in one play running off tackle.

Caste victim Timmy Chang is the back up QB for the Ti-Cats. The commentators during the game were reporting that Chang told his coaches that he wanted to start this week. The white Ti-Cat's starting QB has stunk up the field, and has been pulled in every start this season. I know this is a pro-white discussion board, but the white starting QB for the Ti-Cats is inept at best. I hope Tim soon gets the opportunity to play.
