This years high school line up has been some of the best. I think the rise of white track stars are really starting to open peoples eyes. ever year the number of whites will grow at the high school level till eventually we will see more of a ethnic split like that of the old days. good times to come people!

Jonathan Cabral won another double at the Golden West HS Invitational.
Great times of 13.41 in 110H and 35.46 in the 300H.
With these performances, he improves his national lead in both hurdles events. His 13.41 is the #2 wind-legal time in California state history in the highs.
I think he will be a force to be reckoned with at the collegiate level.Edited by: jacknyc

I reported earlier that at the Indiana State Meet, Nick Stoner won the 100m and Chris Giesting the 400m.
Today at the Midwest Meet of Champions, they were winners again.
Nick took the 100m (10.71), Chris the 400m (46.89!), and Jake Spuller from Michigan the 200m (21.34).
This meet consists of the best HSers in the midwest, and all the boys sprints went to white guys.
Congratulations to them all!
Chris Giesting's time is #9 in the country.

Other winners -
Luke Norris - 300m hurdles - 37.14
Dan Skiba - LJ - 24ft-1/4in
Dan jumped 24ft 5-1/4in earlier this year - tied for 9th best in country.

Matt Gerber won Wisconsin's Division 2 200 in 21.4. Check out Clara Nichols of Millard South of Omaha. A senior to be, she won the Kansas Relays Girls 400 in 55.71.

Has anyone yet mentioned Jake Paulsen, a freshman from Cozad High School in Nebraska? He and times this year of 10.60 and 21.74. He also high jumped 6'4". His 10.60 was the fastest prep 100 meter time in Nebraska. Not bad for a 9th grade kid.

Wow--fantastic. When I saw the name Devon Allen, I didn't even bother to look him up. Given that he's only a junior, we really need to remember his name. He won an extraordinary five gold medals (what makes it even more extraordinary is the fact that, legally, he was only allowed to enter four events!)

The Harvard-Westlake girls seem not to have entered their individual events, but decided instead to dominate the relays. On Friday, they dropped down to lower distances and ran a 1600 sprint relay (200/200/400/800). Amy Weissenbach dropped down to the 400, got the stick after the leader, was slow to grab the baton, had to break in several lanes and started off about 15 ft back. Then she started making up ground. On the last curve, she ran out in lane 2, then strode ahead for a comfortable margin. A very impressive run. After all, she was an 800 specialist running against a 400 specialist and she ran a much longer route. Naturally, they ended up with a national record.

They also won the distance medley relay (1200/400/800/1600) with Amy in the 1200 and Cami Chapus in the 1600. Amy had them so far out in front that the race was nearly over. However, the two girls between Amy and Cami weren't so good, and gave up most of the league. Then they dropped the baton handing it to Cami. Didn't matter. Cami calmly ran down the leaders and put them away.

Tyler Smith won the big matchup in the 800.

Cole Lambourne finished fifth in the invitational 400.

Hannah Cunliffe won the seeded heat in the 200, with a time that would have finished third in the invitational heat. She finished third in the invitational 100. But she was the youngest runner in both the 100 and 200.

All the videos have been archived if you go to arcadiainvitational.org.

Devon's time of 21.10 in the 200m is the #3 time in the country.
I watched the race, and the kid has great form.
His times in the hurdle races are both #2 in the country.
This guy could become a big time star.

Well, I'm sure the football fans will be pleased but I was disappointed to look up Devon and discover that he's got offers to play football from pretty much everyone. I wish he would stick with track, but he'll probably go for football.

Another name I found on the HS top lists is Kyle Fulks of Katy, Texas.
He ran 10.40 (2.4w) for 3rd place at the Texas Relays.
He is a quarterback on the football team.
I think Kyle Fulks is black. I made the same mistake with Reto Schenkel from Switzerland. I follow high school football recruiting and in all his pictures he is definitely black.

you're right. Sorry about that.
I always check for photos of guys before I post about them, but I typed his name in wrong, and got another guy.
I will delete my original post.

Don't apologize. I have done it on more than one occasion. I saw a guy named Jacques Riparelli, an Italian 100 meter sprinter and immediatelyh concluded he was white. He is darker than night. At least hes not that good now. Its good to see the Italians, Brits and Germans putting up a good # of white sprinters still unlike Scandenavia. Geir Moen and Peter Karlson, I miss you.

I haven't really started to delve into the 2012 high schoolers yet, but I did see that Alex Rohani, a junior, (Iranian descent) won the California State Championships with a time of 47.34.
Blake Selig came in 5th in the 100m, ran 10.61 in the heats, came in 2nd in the 4x100, and 1st in the 4x400.
By the way, Blake is from the same high school as Jamison Jordan, who nearly (should have) won the 100m last year.

This kid, Herbert Gamboa,
http://www.ocregister.com/news/-297673--.html
also made the finals of the Cal HS Champs.
He's run 10.51 and other times under 10.60.

He's really built 6'01", 205 lbs.
4.387 in the 40yd dash, 40" vertical, 3.84 20 yd shuttle.
Plays RB and LB. Sounds like a stud!
But guess what?! He's going to Montana to play LB.
A big, fast, solid RB, and he's going to play LB.
Can someone who follows football recruiting move this to the appropriate thread there?

Remember Devon Allen (if not scroll back a few posts)? Seems he's still at it:

[h=1]Allen revs it up another level in the hurdles[/h] Brophy Prep's Devon Allen won the Caribbean Scholastic Invitational 110-meter high hurdles Saturday in 13.41 seconds in Puerto Rico.
If there was no wind aid, it will move him into No. 3 in the USA for a high school athlete this season and not far from No. 1 Artie Burns' 13.35. Burns is a 2013 out of Miami, Fla. Friday, Allen ran the hurdles in 13.36 seconds with a slight wind aid.
He also won the 200 dash and ran a leg in the winning 4X100 relay on Saturday.
Allen won't qualify for this summer's U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials because the high school hurdles he is clearing are three inches shorter. But there is a chance he will make a the World Junior Team this summer.
Allen, a 2013 athlete who wants to play both football and run track in college, will leave a week from Wednesday for a qualifying meet for the World Junior Team.
Allen will try to mix some 7-on-7 football stuff in this month, but his main focus will be on track and field. You can't blame him. What he is doing on the track is the stuff of dreams for athletes just finishing their junior year.
He broke the all-time state record in the high hurdles twice during the high school season and also set a state record in the 300 intermediate hurdles at 36.39 seconds.

Lost in the shuffle this weekend, Devon Allen finished fourth in the Junior Nationals 200. Two of the guys that beat him were collegiate runners. Devon ran 21.04.

He also finished third in the 110 Hurdles. Again, one of the runners who (barely) beat him was collegiate.

One more note. In England, Sophie Papps won both the 100 and the 200 in the Under-20 age group, and she will be heading to the World Juniors. 100m time was a not-too-shabby 11.47 (I believe this puts the 17-yr-old well ahead of Hannah C).

She really blew away the field. Tall sprinters whether male or female are the future in my opinion. When you can get the rare combonation of a quick turnover to go with those huge strides, they are very hard to beat. It's a pleasure to watch athletics in England vs what we see here in America. Whites need not apply because they are not wanted. I'm hoping people like Hannah Cunliffe and many others can help to change that perception.

At the Mount San Antonio College (Walnut, CA. I went to school there) Invitational Simi Valley HS Junior Sarah Baxter won the 3-mile cross-country event in the unreal time of 16 minutes flat. I know the course, it's not easy. Here is the story. A snippet from it:

A young cross country runner in California is tearing up courses at a pace never seen before, leading some experts to already proclaim that she may soon be considered one of the great prep runners of all-time.

Sarah Baxter crushed the previous course record at the Mt. Sac Invitational — Runnerspace
As reported by the Riverside Press-Enterprise, Simi Valley (Calif.) High junior Sarah Baxter won the Mt. Sac Invitational with a blistering time of 16:00. That time obliterated a previous 11-year-old record on the three-mile course -- widely considered one of the toughest in the state and possibly the nation -- by some 16 seconds, leaving area writers and prep track analysts completely agape at the time she turned in.
"[Baxter's 16 minute run is] the most amazing female individual performance in U.S. prep annals," PrepCalTrack.com editor Rich Gonzalez, one of the most respected track analysts on the West Coast, wrote on his website.
