Just as DE Jared Allen has generated little interest, Alex Mack is one of the best centers in the league but there's no interest in him so far in free agency. But the black scrubs, has-beens and never-weres continue to get signed left and right.

Profootballtalk reports free agent C Alex Mack hasn't taken any visits and is generating no interest. As Mike Florio points out, it might be best for Mack to sign the one-year, $10.039 million transition tender the Browns slapped him with before GM Ray Farmer rescinds the offer. The money around the league is starting to dry up one week into free agency, so the chances of Mack landing a deal he likes appear slim. He can earn the hefty salary in 2014 and hit the open market again next March.

JUlian Edelman contract details are in and at 4 years and 17 million seems a steal for the pats can't believe there was no real interest from other teams apart from the 49ers at that kind of money. £8 million guaranteed over that time period.

At least we should see plenty of Brady Edelman for a good few years yet and with Amendola and hopefully a fit Gronk and possibly a tight end like Amaro in the draft could be another good year ahead for them!!

I agree. I try not to encourage the deep pessimism some posters have, but the league may be turning back the clock to the very dark days before the modest "White outbreaks" at receiver, tight end and defense in recent years.

Since most White players who get a genuine opportunity to play in the NFL end up excelling these days, ratcheting up the number of blacks to even more ludicrous extremes looks to be the response, as it is all through society. I went to a Target store and a sporting goods store the other day, and it was a clear majority of blacks appearing on apparel, products and posters. This in a suburban area that is about 1% black and a country that is 12% black. And of course the onslaught of blacks in commercials, sports oriented shows and as authority figures in general continues unabated.

Too many whites have broken through at receiver and particularly on defense. There have even been a couple of threats at running back. Meanwhile, the black quarterback push is mostly failing. Last season, when the Bears were playing the Cowboys on MNF, John Gruden was heaping oceans of praise upon Peppers, who (as Don mentioned) hasn’t been a top DE since about 2008. During the game, Peppers was utterly invisible, and was only credited with a single tackle because he “touched down” a running back who had tripped.

Peppers wasn’t a total bust of a free agent in Chicago (who gave him a 6-year, $92 million contract 5 years ago), he was slightly above average player. Now the Packers have made the same mistake, overpaying for an even less effective edge rusher who is now 5 years older than when the Bears paid him.

Anyway, it doesn’t seem too likely that Jared Allen will be signed by the Cowboys…leaving Plantation Pete’s nausiating crew is now the prime candidate.

San Diego would be a nice landing spot for Mariani, who was one of the best kick/punt returners in the NFL before breaking his leg...

According to longtime NFL reporter Howard Balzer, free-agent wide receiver Marc Mariani worked out for the San Diego Chargers on Monday. In need of depth at receiver and help in the return game, the Chargers could be a good fit for Mariani. But the Montana native has to prove that he’s healthy.

Mariani, 26, missed the entire 2012 season after snapping the tibula and fibula in his left leg while returning a punt in an August preseason game. Mariani worked his way back onto the field, but spent the entire 2013 season on Tennessee’s injured reserve after suffering a shoulder injury in training camp.

Who was the last white WR to catch a pass for the Chargers? Tim Dwight back in 2004? Wes Welker made the team as an UDFA in 2004 but was cut before Week 1 and Bryan Walters was on the roster in 2011, but never played.

Edelman’s career represents everything that is right and good about professional sports. Julian had a great high school career, was a highly successful running QB at Kent State (1,800 passing yards, 1,400 rushing yards in a single season), was barely drafted in the 7[SUP]th[/SUP] round back in 2009, converted to WR, made the Patriots as a punt returner after an scintillating return against the Eagles during the pre-season, had an injury-plagued rookie campaign but had flashes of brilliance (Jet game and playoff game against Baltimore), had a nice season as a returner in 2010, played WR, KR, PR, and CB during their 2011 Superbowl season, had a great season that was cut short by injury in 2012, and was the unquestioned “Team MVPâ€￾ in 2013.

If any WR deserves to finally be financially rewarded, it’s Edelman…who has “paid his duesâ€￾ in the NFL ten times over. Let’s hope for another stellar, healthy campaign filled with 100+ catches, 1,000+ yards, and more dazzling punt returns.

According to CBS sports, looks like Craig Steltz just resigned with Chicago for another year of riding the pine... Why doesn't anybody want this guy? I'm sorry, but I can't imagine Steltz being any worse than the James Ihedebo's and the Rahiem Moore's that litter seemingly every defensive lineup...


I really wish the Cowboys would've signed Jared Allen; would've been nice to see him out there with Lee, Hayden, and Heath.

Riley Cooper got some play from Vick so Decker may not be so bad as he would with Smiff, but will Vick even play. Strange that the only place that Vick could land is one where the QB is as bad as it gets. Funny how that works.

The NY media circus and accompanying nutjobs of NY sh*tty were able to bury Tebow's NFL career, I doubt that the dog-killer will get as much negative publicity as the Christian in the world's biggest cesspool.

I'm probably in the minority but I love the Michael Vick signing by the Jets. Here's my reasoning.

As we well know, the atrocious Geno Smith was not going to be replaced by a White quarterback this year. Not via the draft and not via free agency. So the next best thing is having the only noteworthy black free agent "worthy" of starting going to the Jets to replace the black quarterback. I see it as an admission that Smith is a bum. Rex Ryan must win this year, or be mediocre again, to retain is job. Clearly he wasn't going to leave it in the hands of turnover-machine, mild retard Geno. By signing Vick, the caste-media's "top" free agent quarterback, the Jets acknowledged they had a major flaw at the position and addressed it. Maybe this is the end of the road for Geno?

Also, this coupled with Matt Schaub being traded to the Raiders, keeps us with an extra White starter. Would we really have wanted Vick to sign there, or with another team displacing a White?

Finally, Vick is a single read quarterback who, despite his accuracy issues, can put up big numbers from time to time. Look at how last year he locked on to his #1 receiver DeSean Jackson an incredible number of times. Jackson was putting up huge numbers under Vick. As of now and barring the Jets drafting some supa dupa, magical afflete with their 1st round selection, Eric Decker is their undisputed #1 target. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic but Vick could lock on to Decker like he did with Jackson and pepper him with target after target. With his more then fair defense of Riley Cooper after Coop's crime against humanity, I'd also imagine Vick has no problem with a White receiver. Heck, if he has any sense he'd realize Decker is his only hope for success and furthering his NFL career.

Nice post, as always. Vick indeed is no stranger to white receivers. In fact, every single season Vick has spent in the NFL, there has been at least one white WR on the roster of his team. How many 10+ year veteran QB’s can say that?

In the early days of his career, he targeted Brian Finneran (who had over 800 yards in 2002 and over 600 yards in 2005) plenty in Atlanta. Little-used Jimmy Farris was also on the roster for several years.

In 2009, Vick was on the roster with Kevin Curtis during his first year in Philadelphia, but McNabb was the starter.

In 2010, Vick became the starter in Philly and (then rookies) Riley Cooper and Chad Hall were inserted into the lineup when Maclin and Jackson were injured. I remember him targeting them both when possible.

In 2011, Vick again played with Cooper and Hall, but both were back-ups.

In 2012-2013, he played with Cooper and Salas, with pathetic results.

In 2014, he'll play with Eric Decker.

Of course, during the great “N-Word” ignominy, Vick exhibited great class when he publicly defended Cooper through the media and then physically defended Cooper several days later during a scuffle (with thug CB, Cary Williams) at practice. Let’s hope Vick assumes the starting job in NY and helps Decker achieve his 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] 1,000-yard season.
