I noticed the despicable referee Jack Reiss was yelling at Duhaupas every time he went on the offensive and landed anything on Wilder.

Wilder hit Duhaupas on the back of the head several times and Reiss didn't say anything, but when Duhaupas hit Wilder with a legal punch, Reiss scolded him for hitting behind the head.

Duhaupas isn't a top 25 HW and that's why he was chosen (he lost to Pianeta and to Teper), but he gave it his best effort and won a couple of rounds on my card.
Corrupt house referee Reiss was looking for any angle to protect house fighter Wilder. I would say the Alabama commission might be friends of Wilder's manager. I have never seen a mouse that bad on a fighter and a ringside doctor was never called over to see his eye. I think the eye could have been completely closed and unless Wilder was wobbling around the ring Reiss wouldn't have stopped the fight or called over the doctor.

I'm not even sure the stoppage was fair as the Frenchman while under fire never was wobbled or seemed out of it. Casual fans don't realize how much the deck is stacked against under dog fighters when the travel to local hero's home territories.

Ps Duhaupas even complained about the stoppage from house referee Reiss. I could see the stoppage if Duhaupas was truly non competitive but he was a few good shots away from closing the eye of Wilder and maybe getting a tko (if the Alabama state doctors did their job). Here is his complaint.....http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/duhaupas-i-dont-know-why-he-stopped-the-fight-306901

Duhaupas is ranked #34 by BixRec.

A guy in the Fightnews comments was saying what you're saying. I didn't catch that, but I was watching it on a not that great quality stream mostly with the sound shut off so I didn't have to listen to the talking heads yapping. I don't suppose they're showing Wilder's post-fight face much. Too bad D couldn't have worked on Wilder's eye which was swelling shut early in the fight. That guy on Fightnews thought that Duhaupas was deliberately holding off because the fix was in, but I didn't perceive that, and I did think that the fight was likely to be fixed. It looked to me that D. was trying his best, and I already knew he could take a punch well from watching him in the Teper fight, but unfortunately he doesn't have a big knockout punch. I thought that the punchstats on the tv were lies. Wilder hits hard but he is very vulnerable, as his post fight face shows. He also seems to telegraph his punches, like very obviously, like he goes into his monkey act before unleashing his hooks. When the fight ended he also went into his monkey act (act?), but he made up for it by a show of sportsmanship.

Duhapuas showed he can fight his way back from the brink anyway. Just not enough pop in his punches. He has a skill set similar to Francois Botha, with a similar lack of punch.

Wilder showed some toughness and willingness to fight with a rough opponent. But can you imagine the static either Klitskho would have got if they had that much trouble with a guy like Duhaupus?

They've now dropped him down to #40. If he could have worked on Wilder's eye, which was half shut closed very early in the fight, he could have won.

Klitschkos get flak when they DOMINATE good undefeated fighters like Vlad did vs Povetkin, they would never hear the end of it if they struggled against the guy Wilder just struggled with. Sideshow Wilder just has to show up for the US media to go nuts over him. I wonder what kinds of crowds he's drawing. 3,000? 5000?

I think Jennings beats Wilder if the fight is made. Most likely on a decision.

This is a truly peculiar situation with Povetkin's mandatory status. I was under the impression that WBC had mandated Wilder VS Povetkin next. If they did and suddenly changed their mind to grant Wilder another voluntary this is truly absurd.

Titles begin losing credibility when mandatories go without being enforced. What's the point of WBC having a rankings system if they're not going to enforce mandatories? They may as well get rid of a ratings system and the title loses almost all value.

This is the 3rd voluntary Wilder will have been granted. Will he ever be forced to fulfill his mandatory or will he keep getting a free ride? At what point will he be stripped of the title for failing to defend his mandatory?

I've been watching boxing my whole life and a common pattern I've observed is that mandatory challengers must receive their title shot or the champion loses his title. When will this rule be enforced.

WBC credibility takes a major hit after this. It's up to the fans to point this out and the media to report it (but of course we here at this site also understand the media and it's biases).

Truly absurd situation no matter how you look at it.

Wilder gets a third voluntary, while the WBC has ordered Postol to fight his mandatory next without even one voluntary defense.

This is a perfect example of black privilege in sports.

He is supposedly trying to fight Jennings before Povetkin! I don't believe it anyway. Jennings is a top 10 fighter.

I don't believe it either. It's still just a rumor. I figure that Wilder's handlers know what he is and are saving him for a big money cash out fight with Wlad, or possibly Fury. Then he gets exposed and KO'd and what do they care? They'll be laughing all the way to the bank.

Povetkin isn't in any hurry to fight Wilder so I don't have a problem if Wilder wants to fight another bum in January.

Deontay Wilder bought a gator skin Lamborghini while at the same time, asking the public for donations for his daughter's medical condition.

Guy's got no brains. Maybe the fight with Sasha will knock some sense into him.

How long until Briggs decides to do this?

I don't know if this is true but supposedly fatso Tarver has a "super fan" that started a crowd funding site for him. Last I heard Tarver has a job with Spike and if he could pass a PED test a middling boxing career........

Deontay is already 35-0. I wonder how much more he'll run up his record before taking on a real fight. The way things work these days, he'll break Rocky Marciano's record, retire and be hailed as an all time great having never fought anyone dangerous.

Yes I saw this loud looking vehicle. I don't know if Wilder has the balls to cyber beg for treatment for his sick daughter but he is clearly spending it as fast as he is making it and will end up broke when his career is over. All you have to do his look at the lessons of Holyfield and Tyson to see what happens to money when you spend money like a Saudi Prince.

Ps Wilder is rumoured to be fighting Arreola in late July or August. Talking about scrapping the bottle of the barrel. Arreola is the definition of shot.

Deontay "the paper champion" Wilder to defend his title February 25th against Andrzej Wawrzyk. It's amazing how much padding can go on the record of a title holder these days.

Wow. When will this chump actually fight a top guy? How can he avoid this for years. I understand ducking one guy, but there are multiple top guys he could/should fight. Parker, Joshua, klitschko, Povetkin, Browne, Ortiz...just to name a few. Can't believe the fans allow this!

Wawrzyk is ranked #29. Have no fear, he won't be failing Doc Goodman's Las Vegas drug test.

They don't, really. Wilder can't sell out his own living room when he fights. It's Al Haymon that allows it to go on. Haymon is the same prick that pulled heavyweight fights off the HBO airwaves after his Arreola got bashed up by Vitali and then Adamek in back to back in fights that were held in Arreola's hometown. Haymon was with HBO at the time. Wilder won't ever fight anyone dangerous. I've stopped paying attention to him and pay attention only to the other titles. The WBC title is gone now and will be held hostage by Wilder for years to come unless he is ordered to fight someone. And then he will just pull what he pulled against Povetkin.

Have you guys seen this? To me, it's a good predictor as to what will happen when someone hits him with a solid punch.

Wilders handlers have known this. He's become the laughing stock of the heavyweight division due to the cherry picking. I actually saw an article on yahoo the other day about him. If you notice, when he starts to get hit or wants to throw power punches, his stance becomes very very wide. He's unable to really move when he does this. He has to hop back to a normal stance to move. His footwork is slow and sloppy. Any heavyweight who fights like a spark plug, like Trey Lippe or Povetkin, for example, will crush Wilder. They will be able to get in and out too fast for him. Unfortunately, many heavyweights have poor and slow footwork and he hasn't been exposed yet. His time is coming to a close. He may get another couple easier fights, but eventually he'll be forced to fight a true contender or retire. My guess is he'll retire with an "injury".
