Correct. Wilder will have better stamina, Ortiz is old and in poor condition.Ortiz weighed in at 241 but his body looks soft, like many roiders who get off gear his muscle tone isn't what it was while on gear because his testosterone levels have dropped. Wilder on the other hand looks like he either trained for agility and speed or over trained as he weighed in at 214 and change which is very skinny for a 6'7" heavyweight.
If Ortiz can land a bomb on giraffe legs it should be lights out but I'm not sure he has the conditioning nor speed to get inside on Wilder.
Yeah, kudos for Wilder KO'n a 45 yr old man. But anyone under 30 years old ends that fight in the round 7 where Wilder was out on his feet.I must admit Wilder is tougher than I thought he was. His punch keeps him in the fights more than his boxing. Ortiz looked to be gassed after he failed to finish Wilder.
At least this keeps him in line for a showdown with Joshua, which is much more interesting than Joshua-Ortiz would be.
They love going on and on about the Cuban amateur program. All of their top guys have had their asses handed to them in the recent past. Rigondeaux received a thorough beating from Lomachenko. Ortiz, who really hasn't fought anyone besides Bryant Jennings and Malik Scott(both of whom are decent but not elite) and a faded Tony Thompson, just got knocked out. Barrera was dropped in the fight against Ward and then absolutely dominated and beaten from corner to corner by Bivol this past Saturday. Gamboa has never been able to live up to the hype and has been knocked out twice. Dorticos just a few weeks ago was dominated and TKO'd by Gassiev. Povetkin knocking out Perez was a sweet highlight reel as well....all in all the Cubans have perfomed very poorly at the elite level. But of course, guys like Kellerman continue to go on and on about them. And by the way Ortiz is yet another fighter from the "vaunted" Cuban amateur program to fall short of the top in the pros.
The Eastern Euros have been far more successful in the pros.
It's possible he chin has gotten stronger at 220 pounds than when he was at 201 pounds as an amateur. I have seen some fighters who were dead at a weight get violently ko'd and then move up a division or two and have a rock solid chin because they are stronger at the weight.I watched that video a couple years ago. I don't know how he's been able to avoid being rocked in the pros, especially given that he was hurt with headgear on. He's wild and pretty uncoordinated at times.
Wilder is the PBC champion, Al Haymon contacted Don King and learned all of the tricks in keeping the belt in the family and having favorable judges. Watch PBC broadcasts and you see too many draws in close fights, the reason for this is because a controversial draw makes the news and sets up a rubber bout.Back to the bum of the month tour for Wilder with another fiasco last night. It does not look like Fury will get another shot at him anytime soon. Wilder escaped that fight with a draw and his belt and it's back to the bums. Joshua has a bum of his own to fight soon.
Wilder is the worst boxer I have ever seen that seems to just keep winning somehow. He has very little skill compared to the greats of the past. With 40 professional fights he still throws playground windmill punches when he gets excited. Fury easily made him look like a bum, but never caught him with anything good to put him down and then eventually got caught himself. There are a lot of boxers coming up right now from everywhere that are big guys and I can't imagine Wilder has that much time left. Of course, we've been saying that for 4 or so years now. I suppose Breazele wasn't a bum, but he is far from the elite level.
