Corrupt house referee Reiss was looking for any angle to protect house fighter Wilder. I would say the Alabama commission might be friends of Wilder's manager. I have never seen a mouse that bad on a fighter and a ringside doctor was never called over to see his eye. I think the eye could have been completely closed and unless Wilder was wobbling around the ring Reiss wouldn't have stopped the fight or called over the doctor.I noticed the despicable referee Jack Reiss was yelling at Duhaupas every time he went on the offensive and landed anything on Wilder.
Wilder hit Duhaupas on the back of the head several times and Reiss didn't say anything, but when Duhaupas hit Wilder with a legal punch, Reiss scolded him for hitting behind the head.
Duhaupas isn't a top 25 HW and that's why he was chosen (he lost to Pianeta and to Teper), but he gave it his best effort and won a couple of rounds on my card.
I'm not even sure the stoppage was fair as the Frenchman while under fire never was wobbled or seemed out of it. Casual fans don't realize how much the deck is stacked against under dog fighters when the travel to local hero's home territories.
Ps Duhaupas even complained about the stoppage from house referee Reiss. I could see the stoppage if Duhaupas was truly non competitive but he was a few good shots away from closing the eye of Wilder and maybe getting a tko (if the Alabama state doctors did their job). Here is his complaint.....http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/duhaupas-i-dont-know-why-he-stopped-the-fight-306901
