Still, isn't it a bid sad that we are wondering if MAYBE he can get a bronze medal at the Euro Championships?

I couldn't agree more my friend. From the best sprinter from Europe for several years to an outside hope at a medal over 100 meters which has always been Lemaitres favorite distance. Hope he shocks us all and beats everyone!

With his 10.14 at the French Championships, Lemaitre is now tied for the 12th fastest European sprinter this season.
That's much better than 25th fastest, but this talented guy should be in the Top 5 with no problem.
10.14 is a good time generally, but not for Lemaitre....

Here is the link:
http://www.european-athletics-statistics.org/db/xml/euro.php?Indoor=0&List=senior&Season=2014

All these European sprinters have run faster or as fast this season:

Henry Aikines-Aryeetey 10.08
Jaysuma Ndure 10.11
Richard Kilty 10.12
Julian Reus 10.12

James Ellington 10.13
Danny Talbot 10.14
Sean Safo-Antwi 10.14

Why does it matter? Christophe can run 10.9 and 21.5, but as long as he runs cones faster than last year and is trained by Caraz and his staff, what more do you need? A personal best in the 100 or 200? NAH! .....is not necessary! - RCSMAN

ummm ok then "only" 13 european sprinters faster than Lemaitre.
I look that 7 of 13 are GB and ohh only 3 will be in the championship :)
The others, really not big difference with him (only Vicaut and Dasaolu when is in big shape)

Yes, im sure that Lemaitre will improve in european championship and only Vicaut and Dasaolu (they are capable to run around 9.90 with medium wind) can to defeat him.

Im very optimistic :israel:

LeMaitre finished third--20.08, behind superdoper Justin Gatlin, who has already served 4 yrs of drug suspensions, and is having his best season at age 32... Anyway, the announcers mentioned there was a headwind (-0.5), so this was a good time. LeMaitre beat some very good runners, including doper Tyson Gay. Best race this season.

Very good time for Lemaitre
20.08 with -0.5 wind is great.
He is near sub20 shape, and in 100 he will get in zurich around 10.00

Here's the race.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcGjy6M-7x8

you can see, as usual, Lemaitre giving away several meters at the beginning of the race.
Good race, good time by Lemaitre. He is definitely the fastest 200m sprinter in Europe. But even in the 200m he is a notch below where he used to be. Gaitlin was right outside of him. If he was going to run sub-20 this season, this would have been the race to do it in.
Congrats to him, but for myself I still feel disappointed in the 'new' Lemaitre.

I have a question for you jacknyc. How do you explain Justin Gatlin getting faster than ever at 32 years or age? Especially over 200 meters! I don't buy it for one minute.

Lemaitre can still go sub 20 this summer but he has regressed from a few years ago. Maybe part of the reason is he does it natural and he is not getting any younger at 24. Wish I was that old though. Lol. At the moment he is still the best in the world as far as european sprinters go.

I have zero respect for Justin Gaitlin. He is a confirmed drug cheat. Twice.
Any sprinter running faster times in their 30s than their 20s is a solid bet to be a drug cheat, whether caught or not. Kim Collins definitely comes to mind. He is close to 40 and running world class times. It's laughable to think that he isn't using PEDs.
But I'm not comparing Lemaitre to them. I am only comparing Lemaitre to himself - the Lemaitre of 2010 and 2011. I keep hoping I'll see that Lemaitre. But he may be gone . . . .

Well it is true that with Gatlin is doubtful if he is using PEDS, but Collins?
I dont think it really although he is running 10.0 with 38 years (he is very good first 50m but bad last 50m)

Lemaitre very good, in 200 he is having good season but in 100 being realistic he is having very weak season

But i must in Lemaitre and he will be in 10.0 shape in Zurich and fighting by a medal

I never said that Christophe has bad training or a bad trainer. I've only said that he has regressed.... and I'm right about that. :)

REGRESSION ?

LEMAITRE :

2011 : SB 9.92 (2.0) = 10.02 BASIC TIME
2012 : SB 10.04 (-0.3) = 10.02 BASIC TIME
2013 : SB 10.00 (0.4) = 10.02 BASIC TIME

where is REGRESSION ?

No one here is talking about basic time. We are talking about his personal best in the 100 and 200 meters which he has not gotten close to since 2011 and he may never touch again. The board here is also talking about it you aveage the times of his 100 & 200 meters races every year. He dosn't run sub 10 anymore and rarely hits sub 20. That is reality. It doesn't mean it's impossible but he used to be able to do it very frequently back in 2011. He has regressed whether you admit it or not. We still love Lematre and root for him despite this. As to why he has regressed is the big question?

it depends WIND !!! :der: 9.92 (2.0) = 10.04 (-0.3) = 10.00 (0.4) Christophe ran the same time, every year.

"and he may never touch again" :clap2: he's only 24 YEARS OLD !!!!!!!

times

In 2011, he ran a 9.96 and two 9.95s before the 9.92.

Does anyone know what the winds were for those times?

The basic time is very important, because the wind changes a lot of the final times.

The stupid people talks only about time without wind because they dont know about sprint

The best basic time for Lemaitre is 10.06 -1.2 in SF Barcelona Euro, 9.99 basic time in 2010.
In 2011 his best basic time was 10.00( 9.95 +1.0 Stockholm)
In 2012 was 10.03 basic time , 10.04 -0.1 Rome
And in 2013 was 10.02 basic time, 10.00 +0.4 in SF Moscow

I would not tell regression, but it is very sure that Lemaitre in the last 4 years is not progressing in his times.

Lemaitre runs usually in 10 low without wind when he is in good shape and sub10 with average wind.
His 9.92 was with super strong wind, +2.0 , max legal wind.

Looking his very bad first 30m yet, I dont see him big improvement in his 9.92
Perhaps he can improve his 9.99 basic time but without strong wind he will never break his record.

Regards

Lemaitre has regressed. His 60 meter times are slower, his 100 meter times are slower, his 200 meter times are slower. Wind speed and all that other BS you throw is only to defend your stubbornness that Pierre Carraz and his staff have failed. Plain and simple.
