I predict CL to run a personal best between 19.91-19.95 in the 200 this season.
 
Im telling you right now. Lemaitre will run a sub 19.75. You dont run 20.33 against a -2.3 wind and not have that kind of speed.
 
I think he will get close to 19.80 and maybe under. For him to come out confident g for Olympic gold in the 200 meters (against Bolt and Gay) shows that most likely in practice runs he isrunningvery fast 200 times with minimal effort. Hisconfidenceseems to be in the 200 not the 100.
 
mattharper for me is hard believe that Lemaitre can get this year sub 19.75 like you tell.
It would be the perfect race for him, and i imagine that he need somebody that run very fast too in that race. I doubt so much about that time really this season.

While I think he will go sub 20, Christophe is so raw in the 200 that he would be very lucky to medal in that event at the moment. He needs to learn how to run the curve properly. He has a long ways to go. I believe he has a better chance of medaling in the 100. He hasn't even gone sub 20 yet. I'm not knocking him but being realistic. To be in the top 5 in the 200 will take him a few years in my opinion.
 
I am very optimistic about CL and though i do believe he will get to the 19.7 range, it wont be this year. this year we will see him break 20, but I think it will be another 2-3 years till he is going going sub 19.8
 
I heard it was a hamstring injury. If it's serious, he may be out of the Jamaican Trials and possibly the World Champs. If it's only minor then he might be ok. No one is sure yet. I will say this. The fight to make the team for the indivdual 100 is going to be very heated.
 
No offense to Powell but it gives Lemaitre a better chance at a medal though he probably wont beat Bolt, Blake, and Gay.
 
its stuff like that that should keep CL in the 100m for the WC. you never know who is going to get hurt, have a off day, get caught cheating, or when you are going to have the race of your life. if everyone one had the mentality of "I'm not going to medal" then lets just make the WC final Bolt, Gay & Powell. CL should be in it to win it regardless of if he is going to medal.
 
Powell told to press that he will not have problems for run in trials.
Looks that he only has little injury, not very important, and so he only ran 30 meters when he injuried.
But we will have tha see if he can run 100%, because he need to be first 3 places for go Daegu and very big rivals exists for him: mullings, carter, blake,frater,...
Is very possible that Asafa would have make 9.85 or less.
 
I think this championships will be a passing of the torch and Powell will no longer be part of the "Big 3". He looks clearly past his world record form from 05' and 06'. Somebody should permanently bump out of medal contender status.
 
Info from a french news paper: Lemaitre is supposed to have run the first 60m in 6.50 in the last diamond league race in Rome. That shows a improvment in his start phase.
 
It's really great if that's true ! It's 0,05 better than his PB !!

Let's hope so; but wind, humidity and temperature means an outdoor time is not totally comparable to an indoor time.

Good run. He was inches away from Blake, and Blake is probably the fourth best in the world right now. Bailey from Antingua was relatively close, but the rest of the field was outclassed. That includes Chambers--totally outclassed. Unfortunately, it also included Cerutti. Someday, I'd like to see Christophe have some company at the top. Nice race.
 
Looking his reaction time 0.143, looks that is the great reason because he broke his record.
In his previous record 9.98 Valence his RT was 0.181 and in his 9.97 Rieti was 0.199.
If he continue improving he can break his record this season one or several times.
