I'm going to make a very crazy prediction. My guess is that Christophe will win tommorow in a blazing time of 6.47! Yes it sounds crazy but I just have a feeling. The time won't matter as much though as long as he brings home the gold. He is in a loaded field. He will have to run a perfect race. Let's go PepeLeFlew!

I love you guys too! No Albinosprint, he didn't run that time yet. It's my crazy predicition for tommorow. Who knows? This kid is capable of almost anything. He thrives on the pressure of the big meets and almost always delivers. How many gold medals has this kid won already at major championships since he was a teenager. He is a PHENOM! Simply incredible. So yes I do believe he is capable of dropping a 6.47 tommorow! I named him PepeLeFlew for a reason! He is the master and in a class by himself! I love watching this guy run.

Thanks for posting the video. It killed me to miss the semis live. I will be ready tommorow. We need to post alot of links so no one here misses the finals. Just out of curiosity, do you have the womens semi finals recorded? I would love to see those races. What a day!

I'm with you on him breaking 6.5 in the final. he can do it and will most likely have to for a win. he tied his PR and is looking like he' on fire. I don't know if I can wait till tomorrow for the final.

Hi twinsen it's a clin d'oeil to Pepe le Pew (pepe le putois!) who is a caricature of the "french" as perceived in the world

Thanks bk21. Yes that is the cartoon that has Pepe who is a french ladies man. I just came up with the nick name a few years ago. I have other nicknames and I've even called him my nick name since I was a kid which is White Lightning. I like all of them. I know he goes by "The Master" which I also like. PepeLeFlew just has a nice ring to it. It's funny and it just fits him. He is loved by everyone just like the cartoon character. Haha. Christophe Lemaitre is my favorite sprinter. The nickname is just another way of paying acompliment to him.

Isn't the "Pepe" character a negative stereotype of Frenchmen, e.g., they stink and they think they're God's gift to women? Pepe was an obnoxious character.

I prefer "the Master," or "White Lightning."

Hahaha I never thought about the bathing aspect, the lover aspect was quite obvious....

Pepe le Flew is not a negative image, he's a loveable character even if he has a smelly handicap!
just a precision for WL: Christophe doesn't have the nickname "The Master" here, it's just an error of the automatic translation on internet that translates his last name (sometimes) like that, because Lemaître in two words (Le maître) litteraly means "The master"

I found out why Christophe broke the 10 seconds barrier and why he's still going faster, and why no other white man has done it before: it's all in a proverb of Marcel Pagnol that I chose as "end quote" below | it is my favourite proverb and it sticks with Chritophe's mentality |

The Master is his nickname for english language newspaper :)

I hope all you realize that he is still only 20 years of age and 3-5 years away from peaking. If he stays confident he will surprise the world.

So Bolt has just 25 this year (against 21 for Lemaitre).

Bolt can break again his owns worlds records ?<div>
</div><div>PS : an other French can break the 10" barrier I think. His name is Jimmy Vicaut. He run much faster than Christophe. At 15 years old, he run 11,67 on 100 and a year after, 10,75 ! And he always break his records year after year. In 60m in february, he run 6,66. His record on 100m is 10,16 and 21,02 on 200m. Oh sorry, he's born in 1992... He has just 19 and I think he can touch the 10" this year and maybe break it next year. As Christophe.</div>

I've seen Jimmy run the lead off leg for the Euro 4 x 100. He's one fast 19 year old.
Yes, the French relay team looks to be in good shape for some years to come with Mbandjock ,Vicaut and Lemaitre.

Their 4th runner is often Lemaitre's training partner Pessonneaux who would be their slowest but a decent bend runner. Let's hope he can improve too.

just for fun in between reports......
here's a video (not great quality) from 1999 when a 20 year old Shirvo finished 4th in 6.52 in the "worlds". We all expected great things of him from that point.
Christophe finishes his races so much better though!

I agree that Jimmy has alot of talent but it's too soon to say he will be faster than Lemaitre. That would be like saying Christophe will beat Bolt for sure in a few years. It may or may not ever happen. The only one with a chance to beat Bolt at the moment is Tyson Gay. I do think Bolts World Record Days are over. If he breaks another one, it will be in the 100 and not the 200.

Let's please talk about other guys in another thread. This thread is for Christophe. Thanks.

this video shows Rodgers running 6.56 3 with Christophe a distance back.
Put Christophe there in place of Rodgers and it shows the difference 3 weeks has made.
